(three stars) and Alien vs. Predator (three stars) yesterday and both films were awesome. I really liked The Princess Diaries 2 very much better then the origingal one. Way to go Disney and Raven wasn't that bad in the movie.

I finally got around to seeing The Princess Diaries 2 today. I must say, from what everyone was saying about Raven, I half expected her to be the new best friend.
Come to find out, it was REALLY REALLY good! Anne Hathaway is wonderful as Mia, and for those Julie Andrews fans out there, she sings a song (all be it with Raven, but that about all you hear from Raven.)
This sequel answers a lot of questions that the first one posed at the end, (What happens to Mia's mom and that teacher she was seeing? What does Mia do after high school? What is it like in Genovia? What happens to Lily and her brother? Do the people of Genovia even like Mia? What about the Queen and her bodyguard?)
It features a LOT of people from the first movie in their same roles and shows you Genovia as a country with its people, rather than just an obscure place as in the first film.
As for Raven...She has barely 5 lines to speak, plus a song she sings with Julie Andrews, however, Raven's singing ends just as it begins, hardly worth noting. Overall, if you liked the first one, you'll like this one...If you're curious about Genovia and liked Mia's Princess Lessons in the first movie, then this movie is for you.

It's a little over $37m domestically at this point, which I think puts it right on track with the first one.

I finally saw this movie last night, and I really enjoyed it. It was definitely on-par with the first one, and, if you go by the whole "modern-day fairy tale" theme, then this one surpassed the first.
SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sort of...)
The whole scene with Mia and Nicholas riding in the fog at night, and ending up at the moonlit lake...So beautiful.
And when Mia was walking up the aisle, I cried-parly because she was getting married, and partly because she was getting married but didn't love him.
OH, and I was definitely relieved when it came to Raven: she thankfully got far less screen time then Mandy Moore did in the first one. Yes, I couldn've done without the weird slumber party, but oh well.
And did anyone else notice that the security intern was the same guy who was talking to his mom on the cell phone during gym class in the first film?
This post is pretty jumpy, so I'll end it here.
But I really enjoyed the film.

I saw this movie opening day. I haden't read any reviews about it, but didn't think the trailor looked very promising. The opening of the film was awful in my opinion. I hated the way they tried to sum up the 5 year gap between the first and the second film. It was almost annoying. However, after you get passed that, this is really a great movie. I trusted that Gary Marshall wouldn't do anything to ruin the first film, and I was right. It is a lot different than the first film because Mia and Clarice have a much better relationship, and Mia is much more mature. I don't mind Raven, but I do agree that she didn't need to be in this movie. Her role was pretty pointless in the grand scheme of things. But I don't really care about that, and it was nice to see her and Julie Andrews sing together. I just would have rather seen Anne Hathaway sing with her (she sings in "Ella Enchanted" and is pretty darn good.)

I saw PD2 today. I do like the first one better, but this one was pretty good too. It seemed a little choppy to me, like the movie was skipping around a lot, but that was the only bad part. Raven wasn't needed in the film. I think she only said three lines in the whole thing (besides singing with Julie Andrews)! I'm glad I went, but I don't think I need to see it again, or buy it first thing when it comes out.
Never judge things by their appearence; even carpet bags. I'm sure I never do.
I saw this on Sunday and was surprised by how good it was. I expected to like it, but not as much as I did. Though I still like the original more, this was a solid sequel that in some ways improved over the original (this one has more of a plot and more drama than the first). I absolutely love the fact that (SPOILERS) Mia doesn't get married at the end of the film because that leaves the door open for a third film. The reason I'd like a third film is because maybe they can convince Robert Scwartzman (who played Michael in the original) to come back for a third and have there be some sort of love triangle between him, Nicholas, and Mia and would finish off the trilogy nicely, hopefully with Mia choosing Michael. (END OF SPOILERS) Was this movie predictable? Sure, but like the original, it isn't what these films have to say but rather how they say them. Although this one lacks the cooky oddball feel of the original that made it so charming, I thought this was still a great film which I'll definitely buy on DVD this December.

Disney Kid I love the way you think. That would be such a great way to end the third movie althought a bit repeative from the 2nd one but honestly who cares Lol bring on another Princess Diaries movie. But then again who knows if they will actually make one and if they do will it have the actors and actresses back???Disneykid wrote:I saw this on Sunday and was surprised by how good it was. Oh and a question out of the blue anybody know when this movie is coming to DVD I am not sure I can wait very long for it

Considering how money grubbing Disney is, I wouldn't put it past them. Normally I don't encourage sequels, but I'd like to see a third Princess Diaries JUST so I (and many other fans) can get the ending we really want for the story.Isidour wrote:but i really don´t think there´ll be a third TPD, that is too low even for Bi$ney...I mean Disney

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this sequel. It's not as good as the original, of course, but I never expected it to be, and it's definitely good enough for me to own. I like how this disc's contents match the ones for the original film. I'm really hoping there's more to the "Making A Return Engagement" featurette than just promoting the movie's soundtrack, and that it it somehow will miraculously not be annoying with Raven as host.
As for a Princess Diaries 3, I doubt it. Anne Hathaway says she's moving on to different and more challenging roles and I can't see Disney doing a sequel with a new person cast as Mia, especially considering how big Anne's becoming in Hollywood.

I can't wait until it comes out! I wonder if the "Making A Return Engagement" is just a look behind the music of PD2, because the title does suggest a complete behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. On the special edition DVD they had a sneek peak of a documentary about the making of PD2, and it obviously had been cut down from a full length one.
Oh well! I'm sure it'll be great!!!
