1. The Little Mermaid - An inspiring movie. The one that officialy started the Disney era, again. Great music, quality animation and a strong story. This remains my all time favorite.
2. Aladdin - Taking a close second this one also has a lot to offer. One of Disney's few non-European tales, this one is sure to take a place in the minds of the public. Great songs and memorable characters make this one a classic.
3. Beauty and the Beast - Known as the most romantic love story to ever hit theatres. This masterpiece was the first animated feature to be nominated for 'Best Film' in the Oscars. With classic tunes this one is a sure winner! *Depending on my mood, this is tied with Aladdin*
4. The Lion King - This is Disney's most profitable traditional animation feature and for good reason. Adorable characters, catchy rythms and a fresh storyline makes this one of Disney's strongest classics. With two sequels and enough merchandise to fill the Haunted Mansion this one is sure to stick around for a few more years.
5. Mulan - A truely under-rated Disney movie. This is the last animated classic to showcase music through storytelling. With a deep and interesting storyline taking on many issues such as a woman's status in society and bringing honor to the family this one is sure to interest both young and old alike.
6. Brother Bear - In my book, Disney's last 'true' classic. With a storyline like no other this one is a hidden jewel that unfortunately not many have experienced. It's not the funny characters or the cheerful music that make this feature strong, it's the depth of the storyline that keeps you interested. To some this was boring, to me this is a masterpiece. Everything about it just seems to be so unique. With a strong storyline and groundbreaking animation this one is a sure classic in my opinion.
7. The Hunchback of Notredam - To some this seems to be too dumbed down for adults, and too much for the kids to handle. To me this is a work of art. There's just something about this movie that makes me think about the way we as a society treat others sometimes. Some great songs are featured but might disappoint some. This isn't the ordinary pop singing, light-hearted movie. Some will see this as a negative, to me this only makes it more unique.
8. Hercules - Disney's return to easy going stories began with Hercules. With animation that's simple yet effective and loveable characters (and a Villian!!) this one is sure to be popular with the whole family.
9. Lilo and Stitch - A wonderful treat at a time Disney just can't seem to pull off a success with the crowds. Taking on important issues such as family yet remaining fun and easy going, it's no surprise this one succeeded beyond Disney's expectations.
10. Lady and the Tramp - In my opinion, this is Walt's best classic. From the moment we see lady as a puppy, we know we're in for a treat. This movie has the most human story a animal movie could have. A relationship as old as time, as portrayed from a dog's point of view. On top of that we have some steller animation, and wonderful comic relief.
