Brenda Chapman comments on a possible Brave sequel.
Re: BREAKING: Pixar to Release a Sequel Every Other Year
I don't think Brave will receive a sequel. it wasn't a strong enough film to really hold a franchise.

Is she so over Pixar or what? I love whenever she comments now.Sotiris wrote:Source: http://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/ ... e.23979358On the prospect of a [Brave] sequel, Ms Chapman said: "I don't know, as I don't work for Pixar any longer, but knowing that they have become a sequel machine, I wouldn't doubt it."

Amusingly, she's at DreamWorks now, which is a much bigger sequel machine than Pixar. And I really like DreamWorks, but Katzenberg does have a tendency of announcing five sequels before the second instalment has even been released.

Yes, and I LOVE it when he says "we planned for there to be 18 installments from the beginning".estefan wrote:Amusingly, she's at DreamWorks now, which is a much bigger sequel machine than Pixar. Wow, she's still bitter about her departure from Pixar. I understand that Brave was her baby but it's ironic that she says Pixar is a sequel machine and she works at DreamWorks where every successful film is turned into a franchise.

Re: BREAKING: Pixar to Release a Sequel Every Other Year
At least Dreamworks never pretended to be about anything other than making money. Not like Pixar's "We make director-driven, character-driven, story-driven films only. Oh, by the way, Cars 3, Finding Nemo 2, The Incredibles 2, Brave 2, and Toy Story 4 are on their way. And John Lasseter has replaced former director X on X film that will be out in 2017 after we release 4 sequels first. Original films Newt and Dia de Los Muertos have been cancelled."
It's too bad John Lasseter effectively runs the Disney company now, too, she has few places to go.

Re: BREAKING: Pixar to Release a Sequel Every Other Year
Toy Story 4 is, at this point, only rumor, and Brave 2 doesn't even reach that standard. The next two releases will be original projects, not sequels; the idea that 4 sequels could hit theatre in the next three years is just silly. Replacing directors on troubled projects is nothing new--we have no idea what Jan Pinkava's Ratatouille or Chapman's Brave-without-Mark-Andrews might have been, but the films we got are good ones. Canning troubled projects entirely is nothing new either: Newt was cancelled four years ago, but its replacement, Inside Out, could well be their most unique and outside-the-box film to date. What we see today may not appear to be the brightest moment in Pixar's history, but the immediate future holds promise--and there's no doubting that WDFA has stepped up in quality in the few years since Lasseter and Catmull took positions of responsibility.Disney's Divinity wrote:At least Dreamworks never pretended to be about anything other than making money. It's called hyperbole. I couldn't care less about Pixar, unless it involves the neverending Pixar v. Dreamworks argument. And I've always been very upfront that I have no love for John Lasseter.

I like the movie but I really don't see it as franchise material.
Either this or Coco 2 (good god let's hope not), but now that the Hawaiian shirted pest is gone, anything's possible.

I thought the greenlit for a sequel would be possible even under Lasseter's domain.thedisneyspirit wrote: but now that the Hawaiian shirted pest is gone, anything's possible.
