Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
Tonight the 'Idol' contestants will be singing "Hits of the 80's" for our votes. Sounds like it could be a good night of music for all of us.
Don't expect much from Sam or C.J. and expect these two back in the bottom three this week. Haven't heard if two are being sent home or if they are waiting for another week down the road to chop two.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
With David Cook, Season 7 American Idol winner, helping mentor the singers tonight, I think we got the best out of most of them. Sam is still the worst of all of them, yet he will probably be safe. CJ is another one that really irks me, but he must have a huge fan base. They saved the best for last with Caleb Johnson tearing up "Faithfully" and showing he could do something else besides scream.
Looking for Sam, CJ and Jessicxa to be in the final three, and hope that it is Sam that gets tossed.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
I'm guessing you put the TV on mute during CJ's and Dexter's performances if you think Sam is the worst of them all.
I'd rank last night:
1. Caleb
2. Sam
3. Jena
4. Jessica
5. Dexter
6. Alex
7. Malaya
8. CJ
I'm not a huge fan of Alex anyway, but he can sing well, usually. But I thought he butchered "Every Step You Take." I'm not sure if he'll be punished for it and end up in the bottom 3 though. Malaya continues to get undeserved praise, and Dexter and CJ continue to be epic trainwrecks. Jessica should've been good on "Call Me," but she just didn't give the song enough power (as, say, someone like Carrie Underwood, who pile-drives most songs she sings). Not sure about the Bottom 3, but I hope Dexter, Malaya or CJ go.
I know Jena is one of those contestants that split the audience; I personally liked her performance even though the notes were so low in the beginning of her arrangement that her voice was swallowed by the band. Sam gave his best performance so far, although I think he'll have to keep working on connection. At least he wasn't boring though. Caleb was the only "great" performance last night.
I've been wondering for a while who will win, just because the contestants this year are so lackluster that it could be anyone (except for a girl, naturally). I thought Sam would win easy before the lives started and he had no stage presence. To me, it's either Caleb or Alex, although I'd give the edge to Caleb just because America loves their country/rock contestants. This is just assuming Dexter isn't going to win just because he's country, which might be false hope.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
I don't see the relevance in Sam at all. And I think that he will not make it to the Final Four, no matter what happens in the weeks to come.
Why do you rag on Dexter? Because he is one of the better singers out there, but his main problem is he won't open his mouth and enunciate the words. That's what David and Randy have jumped on him for. If you watch his performance this week opposed to any of the other weeks, we could actually understand what he was saying, and yes, he did the song almost beat for beat as the Georgia Satellites did, but that song would not be the rocker it is without that tempo.
Alex is doomed in the next week or two. His abortion of "Every Breath You Take" was like watching someone scrape their fingernails across a chalkboard. I don't think he can sing, and I don't think he much better than a 'piano-bar' singer, if that.
I was disappointed in Malaya getting sent home, but CJ was also in the Final Two. I think he has a very good fan base, but I hope someone realizes that he has not improved one bit since passing the auditions.
I am starting to like Jena Irene, but as you have said and I agree, this should be a guy's chance to win it all. Problem with that, I don't think there is a guy singer besides Caleb that could win this thing. I look for Jena to be in it until the Final Four, and if she makes it that far, she will be the first one to go.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
Last night's "Idol" was a mixed bag as it was a "new" theme night. Each contestant got to pick a song for another of the contestants, and they got to look at the copy of the list of songs that were suggested. Some of them were good, some okay and a couple were just awful.
The awful ones were Sam Wolf and CJ Harris. We'll just get that out of the bag. One of these guys needs to go now!!!
Jessica was okay again, but she might be sent home this week also. Caleb was incredible with "Family Tree", originally done by Kings of Leon. He changed it around a bit to put his fingerprint on it and opened the show with a wow!!!!
Alex was okay, but I definitely don't care for him. Dexter needs to open his mouth so we can understand what he is saying, otherwise he was good also.
It will be interesting to see who America voted for and who goes home tonight.

I can't believe they keep critiquing only Jessica on lack of stage presence when none of these contestants (outside of Jena and Caleb) have any. I hate these singer-songwriter seasons the worst. So boring.

So long Dexter, though I wish CJ could go already (I dislike him more than Sam and Alex for singing sharp constantly). I really liked Caleb, Jena, and Jessica Tuesday night.

1. Sam ~ “It’s Time”
2. Jena ~ “Barracuda”
3. Jessica ~ “Jolene”
4. Sam ~ “You’re Still the One”
5. Jessica ~ “Somebody to Love”
6. Caleb ~ “Sting Me”
7. CJ ~ “American Woman”
8. CJ ~ “Whatever It Is”
9. Caleb ~ “Undo It”
10. Alex ~ “Always On My Mind”
11. Jena ~ “So Small”
12. Alex ~ “Animal”
I really hope Alex will get shock booted. I believe “Animal” was worse than “Every Breath You Take.” I liked the arrangement of “AOMM,” but he was just off vocally. It’s funny how CJ has just barely managed not to give the worst performance these past few weeks, but overall he’s the worst left.
I thought Sam gave his best performances so far. I didn’t like Jena’s “So Small” (and didn’t expect I would when I read she was singing it), but “Barracuda” was one of the best last night.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
I still think that "Divinity" and I watch different shows. I thought the two worst performances last night were Sam Woolf, and Alex. If Alex could learn to sing and open his mouth to enunciate the words for us, he might be a little better than a 'piano bar' singer.
We might have a girl in the Finals this year and that girl might be Jena Irene. She kicked off the show last night with a revved up version of Heart's "Barracuda", and I thought she set the bar high for the night. Caleb was second best, and I think if I was picking a bottom two tonight it could very well be Sam and Alex, with Alex getting the boot this week, and regardless of what he does next week, I think that Sam has to go or the show will look "fixed" like it did the season that loser Phillip Phillips won.
If I were to pick a winner from the Top Six, I truly think that Jessica or Jena could upset the apple cart and win the whole thing. We will see how the next couple of weeks go.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
According to the script, CJ Harris got sent home last night, and they promoted Sam Woolf as the one to beat these season.
Now this really looks fixed. I don't care what others may say, but American Idol says they follow the votes, but we all know that is a bunch of "hooie" after the Phillip Phillips debacle. I really, truly thought that American Idol has finally listened to us viewers and made some really great changes to the show, and who was on the judging panel, and come up with new 'theme weeks', and not have a whole bunch of different stars come on and prep the contestants. I was hoping for a really true results show this year when they decided to go back to the 30-minute format for the results show, and we all know that the Finale Results show is going to be a two-hour stuffed with stars gala.
I will still watch the rest of the season, but I am now thinking that the Final Two will be either Jena and Sam, (yuck!) or Jessica and Sam (even yuckier!)!!! I don't think that they will let Caleb get much farther than the next week or two. (Like Season Five when they eliminated Chris Daughtry, and we all know about his fabulous career).
Right now, I am a firm believer that if Fox brings Idol back for one more season, it will be the last season. Can't see what else they can do to make the show better, and not look so "fixed" like this Season.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
If it makes you feel better, Sam's probably been in the bottom 3 the past two weeks, which is why they've only shown the bottom 2.
I see Caleb as the least marketable contestant left, so I hope he does go before the finale. Too bad they want to get Jessica out for whatever reason. I'm not sure which of Caleb or Alex winning would be worse. Probably Caleb, because at least Alex is marketable even if I don't like him.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
With Jason Mraz as the guest mentor, the artists performed songs requested by the American Idol viewers. It was quite the night for the singers. Some performed up to expectations while others came to play seriously and raise the bar.
Alex and Caleb performed well above what they have in the past few weeks, and Jena looks to be a star in the making and could win this whole thing.
Still not a fan of Sam Woolf, although he did a pretty good second song last night. Jessica is stuck in a rut. Would like to see her or Sam to go home tonight.
Did you catch the look of surprise on Alex's face when he confessed to having a celebrity crush on Zoey Deschanel and she showed up on stage behind him?

1. Jena Irene ~ "Can't Help Fallin' in Love"
2. Jena Irene ~ "Heartbreaker"
3. Caleb Johnson ~ "Maybe I'm Amazed"
4. Caleb Johnson ~ "You Give Love a Bad Name"
5. Jena Irene ~ "Bad Romance"
6. Jessica Meuse ~ "You and I"
7. Alex Preston ~ "Yellow"
8. Jessica Meuse ~ "Since U Been Gone"
9. Caleb Johnson ~ "Travelin' Band"
10. Alex Preston ~ "Too Close"
11. Alex Preston ~ "I'm Yours"
12. Jessica Meuse ~ "So What"
Alex deserves to go, but since he performed in the final spot, Jessica will be going. Unfortunately, Caleb Johnson will win the whole thing. Not only is he unmarketable, a subpar David Cook, and yet another white guy, he's clearly a douche considering those comments he made this past week. I would like Jena to win, but she's at a disadvantage being a female on American Idol.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
I totally agree that Alex should be going tonight. I still think he will and I am really sold on Jena Irene's talent. She performed two of her three songs flawlessly and her version of Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" was tear-jerking at best.
I don't think Caleb has this thing wrapped up, because Jena showed last night that she has the "balls" to take this all the way to Finals.
Jessica was off her stuff and didn't perform either of songs very well and was called on it by the judges. I could see her going home tonight if Alex doesn't.
I think the winner of American Idol Season Thirteen will be Jena Irene. You heard it here first folks, write it down so you don't forget who called it.

Not really.
Tbh, I find this season to be the worst of the series, down there with season 9, 10, and 11. Watching the show this year has helped me prepare myself for the end of American Idol, since it's mostly unenjoyable. Still, I can't stop watching, since I've always watched.
I just hope they're bringing Simon Cowell back next season, like the rumors are swirling. Listening to these judges really make me miss him.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
America got it wrong, AGAIN!!! What is up with all this love for the no-talent Alex? He butchers almost every song he performs. I thought he was this season's 'Sanjaya', but even Sanjaya had some talent and I don't get what anyone sees in Alex.
Next week the Top Three share their week at home with us, and I hope that we can say bye bye to Alex then. I so want to see Jena and Caleb in the Finals - it would be the icing on the cake of this basically loser of a season.
I don't think Cowell will be back, despite all the rumors. If he does come back, it will be telling that Season 14 will be the last for American Idol.
I actually think that The Voice is much better show and they are getting down to their Finale and then it's everyone's favorite moment in time when America's Got Talent returns for another season.

I'm sorry to disagree with you Divinity, but Harry knows HOW to judge based on musical performance than Simon could ever do in his sleep. I'd rather have these judges compared to the travesty that was named......Minaj....Disney's Divinity wrote:Not really.
