Post by Papa Bear »

Wow, I thought my collection was going to be one of the worst I beleive I am sitting at about 500 to 600, but this is after my colletion was split up a bit from getting divorced my X wife took about 200, luckily she was not real into Disney and I only lost one Disney Dvd to her. (but that was ok because it was Return to Oz which as we all know was just rereleased)

I just reached 400 titles on my dvdaficionado.com page, but they don't have entries for some of the European films I own. 425-430 in all, maybe. My only excuse is that 70 are Disney (including all the released classics) and that most of the others are pretty good, too.
Have a look if you're interested:

I've recently passed the 500 titles mark. I figure about 600-650 actual dvds since many of the titles are multi disc (Alien Quadrilogy, ULT. Toy Box, Indy etc..).

129 at last count, then again, I did get rid of those Simpsons sets... so 122 is where I'm at (approx.), my collection is miniature compared to some on here. Goes to show I have very little money to spend on this stuff

As far as animated DVDs are concerned, you can find out the exact number via my signature.

but as far as live action movies are concerned, I have well over 100 live action DVDs in my collection (and an additional 100 or so on VHS) along with close to 200 animation titles on VHS.

I am so ashamed!
I have 3! Yes, 3!

BUT, this hobby of mine only started 4 months ago. I've already pre-ordered Bambi, Brother Bear is on its way as we speak and I plan on getting 8 more through out this year... :)
Next year I already know of 3-5 titles I'll be purchasing!

I've got 62 at the moment, 1 of them (Silly Symphonies) en route at the moment. Of those, only 20 are Disney (21 if you count Who Framed Roger Rabbit).

It really isn't very much, compared to most of you; however my current want-list of DVDs only comprises 163 at the moment, although I'm adding to it frequently. Most of the remaining 101 (62) that I don't have are Criterion releases ($50+ CDN) and being a university student, I don't have the money to buy many of those very often at the moment.

I'd probably own alot more if I bought the cheap, no-frills DVDs that are frequently sold for less than $12; but I generally only buy 2-or-more-disc Special Editions of movies and hold out on buying ones which have less satisfying releases until they get a better one. Predator 2 is a good example of that, which just got a pretty decent 2-disc edition this month after years of having a 1-disc edition. The Party, being the first DVD I bought back in '02, is one of the few exceptions to that rule (it's only bonus feature is the trailer).

I think I'm up to 330-340 now, or somewhere in that ballpark (counting boxsets as one). I think that I, like Loomis, may very well need some professional help. I suppose it's not all that shocking, though, as I've been collecting for nearly 5 years, so that works out to an average of about 7 DVDs per month, which is greatly assisted by things like DMC and Columbia House.
