Re: Negative Receptions of being a Disney Fan
I'm 20 now, but from some immature guys in high school I was called childish for liking childish things, at least according to them.
The mass of people were very supportive. I did a relief carving of Sleeping Beauty's castle that was very popular with a lot of people. I did all of the Princesses out of pastels, and had several requests so I gave all of them away to people - the best being Belle... I have a fake license plate in my car that says DSNYPRNS (Disney Princess) and a lot of people love me for it.
I still freak out over a lot of Disney news... and for the past two years+ I've been running a Disney Merchandise blog on tumblr which I feel has become very successful. I think that was when the last bits of my insecurities about my passionate for Disney faded away. When I spend a lot of time talking and discussing with people who love Disney as much as I do, it becomes a lot less of a worry(:

I based the look/drew the influences from Gwen Stacy and Bruce Timm's Supergirl. Still a different character I created for my own series.DisneyJedi wrote:Seriously? I was assuming it was either Aurora or Gwen Stacy.Super Aurora wrote:
The avatar is my drawing of one of my personal original character. I drew that. But yeah it's fine.
yeah it is as Pap64 explained for me.DisneyJedi wrote:By the way, are you serious about the Gay day thing?

Re: Negative Receptions of being a Disney Fan
... yeah. I hate it when that happens. But yet again, not everyone can sit through a tolerable colorful show about ponies, so there may be times when Bronies can be misjudged more badly than Disney fans. I'm not a die-hard fan of the new show (not a fan of the older MLP. Never grew up with those), so I wouldn't tell people mainly interested in what's on HBO and AMC about it. (No joke, I do know people that watch shows in these channels lately)thelittleursula wrote: I hear that Brony fans get this judgement and assumption quite a bit too :/
*googles*Don't celebrate yet she's yet to find out about Sofia the First.

THAT THING HAD A NAME?! ... wait that isn't becoming popular, right? If it is, DO NOT WANT, DO NOT SHOW, DO NOT WANT, DO NOT SHOW (oh wait, it's for kindergarten... automatic skip)
This is DisneyFTW1, a former Youtube account that was terminated by Disney themselves. My current Youtube Account is FilmFTW2 (FilmFTW1 was terminated). Youtube sucks when it comes to film uploads, and it sucks even more when major corporations are following your channels. But what can I do?

It's actually pretty good show. You'd be surprise.

Yeah, Sofia has become a pretty big hit, and for good reason. While it's not something I watch, it's a good show for what it is.

Re: Negative Receptions of being a Disney Fan
My mother can't wrap her head around why her 25 year old son loves "Little Kids Movies" so much.
My partner, I think, is slightly more understanding, but again, not a fan himself. He'll watch Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King is he really has to (he will watch all the Pixar movies though and Tangled, which he still doesn't believe isn't Pixar). I got him to watch Mulan, Lilo and Stitch and the last half of Treasure Planet willingly and he has sat in the same room while other movies are on. He doesn't like my memorabilia collection though.
Other than that I haven't really dealt with negativity. Though I don't parade around with my Disney love on my sleeve.

And the songs are really neat as well, like classic Disney 90's sort of neat-o.
Re: Negative Receptions of being a Disney Fan
That this is a thread about how people create negative perceptions of Disney fans simply because they like something that they assume is "childish" when there is actually more to it, and the poster started making negative comments about Sofia the First. Not saying that he/she should like it, just ironic that he started commenting on it in the similar manner most would when encountered in the same situation involving the show.Super Aurora wrote:What irony? Any of you that have issues with this sort of thing just need to move to Orlando. Everyone here is, obviously, a Disney fan, as a good chunk of us are Cast Members ourselves. You'd feel right at home!

I'm basically an hour away from Orlando, but I could certainly say the same.SWillie! wrote:Any of you that have issues with this sort of thing just need to move to Orlando. Everyone here is, obviously, a Disney fan, as a good chunk of us are Cast Members ourselves. You'd feel right at home!
Or at least the people who don't care about Disney aren't vocal about it, which is just fine in my book.

I honestly WISH I were living there right now! Or even in Anaheim/Los Angeles! There's not really a lot to do here in Ohio, unless you have a driver's license.SWillie! wrote:Any of you that have issues with this sort of thing just need to move to Orlando. While I was in the Disney College Program, I got a taste of what it's like to LIVE at Disney World.

Didn't know you were from Ohio. I agree - it is boring. I'm moving back to CA as soon as I find a new job.
