Things that make life worth living:
Anything that makes you happy and doesn't harm others.

Things that make life not worth living:
People that rip apart and shred good things that can be believed in.
People who are too scientific and logical.
People that reduce things to only the physical/material/parts.
Reducing anything to something less than it really was/is.
Being cynical.
Being hateful.
Being misanthropic.

To me, religion RESTRICTS faith and tries to mold it into an uniformed mentality, which is something I hate. Like I said, I am technically a "Christian" that believes in God and Jesus, but I don't like religion, I don't like going to church and I don't like the Bible as being the "ALL MIGHTY RULE BOOK".

Like I said earlier, I believe in love as being a powerful decision, and the sad thing is that many religions restrict how far we are willing to love our fellow human beings, no matter how different they may be. I just don't want to be put in the same category as the religious nutcases because I decided to followed a faith that makes sense to me and just me.
Are you saying you have a faith but not a religion?

I'm pretty sure faith is just your ability to believe, and religion is what you believe in. Also religion is a guide. Can it feel restricting? Well yea if it restricts stuff you think shouldn't be restricted, but that's all up to opinion.

yeah you can have faith without religion. It's called having faith in yourself.

LOL at "People who are too scientific and logical." as things not worth living.

y'know, I actually think frankenollie and Goliath should listen not to this guy. He's *incredibly* logical and denounces most religion, but recognizes the value of inner-spirituality especially in his video about Depression but never preaches the existence of god or any actual bullshit. it's all about how to be happy and scientific at the same time. Most of his videos are also about the stupidity of people too and that takes a primary role, but he's more balanced at it in one video than %90 of religious discussions here.

Good for him. All I'm saying is faith isn't restricted solely to religion.

To me I prefer to have faith in myself and believe in myself for me to over come obstacles and to improved as I progress, than to have faith in some organized cult.

Huh? Can you elaborate what you're saying bit more. I don't get what it is you are asking or why you need me to pm you.

I was pointing out that I was explaining to pap that he has faith in a religion when it sounded like he was saying he didn't.

There *is* such a thing as being too scientific and logical. the problem is knowledge often begets depression and some of these people(myself included) arent too happy. So there needs to be some acceptance about not knowing. *some* faith in things you're not gonna understand. And if science proves something, discard your previously held faith. Harder if you grew up that way.

I had a tiny TV in my bedroom too.

My best friend next door had a computer and internet access in her bedroom (in the 90's yet, so I was always impressed)... but she claims she only used it for chat rooms.

But I don't think there was free porn on the internet back then. There were pnly pay-sites and even then, with the 'speed' people had back then, I can't imagine videos playing too well.

Well I thought you might use your head too (I'm just saying it cause you said it to me, I know you use your head) and think how those things could be bad. They can do good and also do bad. I just didn't think you would laugh at that after knowing me.

Uh...yea I pretty much agree. I also read the more educated you are the more depressed. I know someone who never went to college - he's gotta be the happiest man I knew till he lost his job. But you know, even if science does seem to prove something that goes against your faith, you're still able to have faith, because you just never know if science somehow got it wrong or they didn't catch something or you're unaware of something that would still make your faith possible/rght. You just never know. You can always have faith.

Ignorance is bliss, I guess? The more you learn about life, the world, current events and history, the easier it is to be cynical and depressed. Not that all educated people are depressed, just to put that out there.

You quoted Pap, not me. Those aren't my paragraphs.

Funny how you really highlight all of this, the stuff that makes religious people frown, and ignore why people turn away from religiion in the first place. Ya know: elitism, murder, using it to justify intolerance, etc. Little things like that.

I actually say people shouldn't be ignorant either. I'm just against being too scientific and logical, which is something different than just hearing about what science says.

Fixed.

What do you mean? You mean you think I should have also listed elitism and murder or intolerance on my list of things that make life not worth living? Poeple already covered those. My lists covered other things and the reasons why religion is good. There's good and bad to everything, together here it seems all covered. Is there something else you meant/wanted to talk about?

Raindrops on roses
Whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles
Warm woollen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
Cream coloured ponies
Crisp apple strudels
Doorbells
Sleigh bells
Schintzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
Silver white winters that melt into spring

Things I could live without:

Dogs biting
Bees stinging
Feeling sad

;)
