I know this might sound patriotic, but this makes me so proud to be Norwegian. Sandberg and Rønning did a great job on "Kon-Tiki".Disney_freak wrote:Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has revealed the Disney franchise is due to set sail once more in a few months’ time following the appointment of Norwegian directors Joachim Roenning and Espen Sandberg.
Bruckheimer said: “We hired two young directors who did a movie called Kon-Tiki. They just came to Hollywood last week, they’re just starting up. We plan to start filming end of this year or the beginning of next year.”

Anyway, a 5th film in the works? ... We have our heading!
This is DisneyFTW1, a former Youtube account that was terminated by Disney themselves. My current Youtube Account is FilmFTW2 (FilmFTW1 was terminated). Youtube sucks when it comes to film uploads, and it sucks even more when major corporations are following your channels. But what can I do?

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Gets Pushed Back[/b

It's still only 2013, but Disney is already looking for into the future and shuffling around its summer 2015 schedule. Just last night we learned that the studio has moved Edgar Wright's Ant-Man from its original November 6, 2015 release date to July 31, 2015, and today there's news that they've taken Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales off the calendar completely. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has been "delayed beyond its planned summer 2015 release date", with its production start date pushed back.
The reasoning behind the delay is reportedly issues with the script, which the trade surmises could have something to do with the performance of Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger (a project connected to the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel through star Johnny Depp and producer Jerry Bruckheimer) earlier this summer. In a summer filled with a surprising number of flops, Lone Ranger was perhaps the most notorious, managing to make only $88 million at the domestic box office on an excessively large $215 million reported budget. It's possible that the studio wants to be more careful with the script this time around so that they can avoid another bloated disaster. This is the second story we've heard recently tying the two films together with a negative connotation, as it was reported early last month that the failure of Lone Ranger would reduce the budget of Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Said Disney production president Sean Bailey in a statement, according to Deadline, "Like audiences around the globe, we have high expectations for Jack Sparrow’s next adventure and we want to have all the right elements in place, We’re not there yet and we want to make sure this project is everything these wonderful characters and of course the fans deserve.”
Another possible explanation for the shift could be that Disney's 2015 summer schedule is already jam packed. Not only does the studio have the aforementioned Ant-Man coming out at the end of July, they will also be releasing Joss Whedon's The Avengers: The Age of Ultron, J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII, and Pixar's Inside Out that same season. And even if they're not worried about stepping on their own toes, there's still the ridiculous amount of competition that they will have to deal with from titles like Zack Snyder's Batman/Superman movie, Alan Taylor's Terminator reboot, Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic Park 4, Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2 and more. Taking Pirates out of that equation could improve its box office potential.
Depp is currently the only actor attached, though Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are set to helm based off a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson (Tower Heist, The Terminal, Speed 2: Cruise Control). In their report, Deadline adds that production will now likely start next February and that there's a possibility that the film could wind up on the summer 2016 release calendar. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.

When is Disney planning to release Star Wars Episode 8? Isn't it in the same year?Fflewduur wrote:Looks like it's happening after all...

Hmm I don't know about this. The script seemed so troubled that it felt like a sign that there wasn't another story to be told at the moment ?
I know people said that the fourth was a return to the quality of the first, but I didn't find that the case at all. Penelope Cruz was a waste of space, and poorly written, and the young couple was a poor mans Will & Elizabeth.
I'm tentative about this one to say the least.

I haven’t seen a hard date for Episode 8, but yes, that’s the word. Three Marvel titles are scheduled in 2017 as well—two of them for summer.
The series is a guilty pleasure of mine, but…yes, tentative. OST was a big let-down. My favorite installment is DMC—it’s got that middle-chapter-of-the-trilogy thing going for it, in which all sorts of things are set in motion but nothing actually needs to be resolved. AWE was kind of a sprawling train wreck, but an enthusiastic and committed wreck. I’m going to hope they manage to put the franchise to bed on a nigh note.Atlantica wrote:Hmm I don't know about this. Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
I'm surprised The Lone Ranger's failure would affect this film, considering this franchise has already proven it's a success and that people love Depp's role in it? I could understand it being affected if it was an original movie, but not a part of a franchise. Still, it's probably best if they don't put part 5 up against a stacked lineup.
As far as sequels to POtC, the way I feel is none of them have been as good as the first, but I don't mind that they keep making them. Sort of how I'm not bothered by sequels to Toy Story--their worlds just seem open to a huge amount of exploration.

Listening to most often lately:

Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"

At least the sequels even the weakest ones, are way better than movies like Cutthroat Island, and I think it's because of Cutthroat Island we didn't see a decent pirate movie for a long time until Curse of the Black Pearl came out.Disney's Divinity wrote:As far as sequels to POtC, the way I feel is none of them have been as good as the first, but I don't mind that they keep making them. Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Official synopsis released: “In the new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.”

Hopefully that means we'll see more mermaids. I would love to find out what happened with Syrena and Philip. I know Rob Marshall wanted to leave it a mystery but since he's not directing this one, maybe Disney can bring them back.
Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Sounds like quite a cool synopsis ! Though how many more baddies can there be at sea that haven't been mentioned before
Actually having Poseidon in it, that would be awesome too.
I hope they don't go overboard on this one and make it in the vein of BIGGER IS BETTER and have it more like the first in terms of scale.
