I think that "The Lion King" is overrated. I got very bored of it about halfway through it.

"Beauty and the Beast" is also overrated. The songs are good, but not the greatest, and I just don't get how Prince Adam was brought back to life when he was clearly dead before. The animation was wonderful, of course, but otherwise, I don't know why everyone loves it so much. I still think it's a good movie, though.

"The Black Cauldron" is underrated. I actually really like that movie, but I'll admit that it does get a little boring after awhile. Still, I really enjoyed it, and I think Princess Eilonwy is one of the best Disney princesses ever.

"Treasure Planet" was great! I loved it. It had great animation, good music, and a wonderful story to go with it. Too bad it's underrated.

"Finding Nemo" is overrated. It was good, yeah, but it wasn't great.

"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" confuses me. Disney says that it's the highest-grossing movie ever for them, but I can't think of anyone whose favorite Disney movie is that.

Well, there's my opinion. I still think "Aladdin" is the greatest Disney movie ever. My least favorite is "The Fox and the Hound", though...Don't kill me, please! I just don't like the animal ones(excluding The Rescuers since it's not entirely about animals...man, Tangela! Look what you did to me! Now I'm really getting into that movie...)!

To me, Pocahontas is the most underrated Disney film. I Like it much more than many of the other films of the '90s.
Also I think Aristocats deserves a lot more praise than it gets.

UNDERRATED (in no specific order)

A Goofy Movie
To my mind a much better film about parenthood than Finding Nemo. The relationship between Goofy and the teenage Max is spot on, and Goofy's fears are something every parent can (or will) relate to as their child grows. It's universal. Plus it has great songs. (Could do without the Bigfoot scene though, especially as the "Hi Dad" soup scene, one of the best in the movie, is slap in the middle)

[Basil,] The Great Mouse Detective
I think the DVD should have had a subtitle trivia track pointing out all the Holmes references - from Basil and Dawson's conversation at their first meeting to Toby the dog. Then everybody would see how clever and great this film is. Plus, as Loomis points out, Vincent Price voices (as so does the great Alan Young).

Hercules
Masterful design and animation, satirical humour and Hades as manically voiced by James Woods must be one of Disney's best villains.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Often overlooked by the mainstream media, it's good to see it (generally) get's the credit it deserves in Disney fan circles.

The Three Caballeros
Well, it does what it sets out to do perfectly, and really if you make an effort to 'experience' it rather than simply 'watch' it, it really is most entertaining.

Piglet's Big Movie
Well, I'm not too fond of the 'Kidnap Roo' story (but remember it is an original AA Milne story) but I think this movie has a better narritive flow than Many Adventures, and had a cute emotional ending. If only a little more time and money was spent on it - it could have been superior to Many Adventures (again, only in my opinion)

OVERRATED (in no specific order)

The Lion King 1.5
Yeah a cute idea, but it looses it's way in the middle when actually interacting with the original movie events. Would have been better as a 'true' prequel, as the Timon parts at the start are pure gold. As for the animation - yeah it's good, but no better than the DTVs, Scamp's Adventure, Patch's London Adventure and Return to Neverland. Animation of almost feature quality isn't a new feature of the DTVs.

The Jungle Book
I'd have to agree this is overrated. Sleeping Beauty always should have been a platinum release, while Jungle Book shouldn't (in my opinion).

Mary Poppins
Apart from the songs, I really do find this rather bland.

Finding Nemo
Overrated in that it was Pixar's weakest, but people treat it like it was the best (because the box office is so important in judging quality)

The Brave Little Toaster
Bland

Pirates of the Caribbean
Overlong and in places tedious. How much of the runtime is simply "runabouts" or hiding the coin? And there's only so many pointless (because the oponents are undead) sword fights you can sit through. But take some of these problems out, reduce the length by 1/2 hour or so and what's left is pure gold.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

The Brave Little Toaster OVERRATED? Personally, it's a disney movie that no one really watches anymore. Oh well, here's a list of movies from me:

Underrated
The black cauldron: Really great, people don't respect it though, because it was the first (source from a disney website) PG rated ANIMATED movie.

The sword in the stone: not alot of people watch this one anymore. It was one of my favs, but sadly, we don't have it.

Treasure planet: Animation was good, story line was wonderful, voice acting great, but not alot of people saw/liked this one.

The fox and the hound: No one watches it because it's sad. I love the movie. It was the movie I would really watch alot as a kid.

Robin hood: C'MON! This movie was wonderful! Fun, exciting, adventure, romance, comedy, everything mushed into a cute film!

Overrated
The lion king 1/2: This movie was cute, funny and wonderful, but everyone keeps talking about it. It wasn't the BEST, but it was good.

Finding nemo: I loved it, but it's something you should only see with family or just once or twice. Not an everyday movie. kept going into depressing, then funny/adventure, then back to depressing.

Monsters Inc: *looks at avatar* LEAVE ME ALONE! >.<* This movie is SO anoying. I love the way they made them look and the voice acting was WONDERFUL, but....c'mon. If you keep talking about it and saying how good it is, someone's gonna start to dislike it. *waves hand*.....what? T_T
besides, the only reason I watch it is of randall. He's so cool! ^.^

The jungle book: WAAAAAAAAY overrated. I personally didn't like this one as much as the others.

Aladdin: Sorry guys. You keep talking about it and....it led to this. <.>;

I'm totally with you on these two. They're both intelligent films that have yet to find their "mark" with today's audience.

Er, we're talking about it a lot because it's coming out on Platinum Edition soon. I don't think anyone talked about it much before then.

So, it really isn't fair that you say it's overrated just for that reason.

I think Disney's most underrated movies are:

--The Rescuers Down Under
--The Great Mouse Detective
--The Hunchback of Notre Dame
--The Aristocats
--The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
--Sleeping Beauty
--The Emperor's New Groove
--Treasure Planet
--A Bug's Life (everybody talks about Toy Story & Nemo, I have begun to think everyone forgot about this one!!)

I think Disney's most overrated movie is The Lion King. When I saw it at the theater, it just didn't live up to the hype that it received, to this day it is one of my least favorite Disney movie. I watch it and it doesn't do anything for me.

Monsters, Inc. is another one that just gets on my nerves. Great idea, I was really intrigued by it, and looked forward to it, but it disappointed on delivery...just highly overrated to me. It is the worst of the Disney/Pixar movies IMO.

Oh and someone mentioned Ducktales the Movie--Treasure of the Lost Lamp! This is another one that I think is really underrated! In case no one ever found out, it came out August 1990. I remember my grandma taking me to see it that summer day! I really wish it would be released on DVD here soon!!!

The more I see The Rescuers missing from everyone's Underrated list, the more I think it is the most underrated.

"The Rescuers is Disney's most underrated work! It was the last great feature film before what became a strings of forgettable works like The Black Cauldron, The Great Detective, Oliver and Company in which the Disney studio was trying to break into new ground but somehow was unable to find the right formula. It wasn't until The Little Mermaid that Disney Studio has reclaimed it's number one position as the world's greatest cartoon creator.Having said that, The Rescuers Down Under- produced after The Little Mermaid - is a thorough disappointment, both in its story and in its style of drawing. This always seems to be the curse of sequels! The Rescuers, however, has all of the Disney's magic! Medusa is possibly one of the greatest of Disney's villains, yet somehow she doesn't catch on as did the others.T he only criticism I would make is the opening of The Rescuers. It seemed that the studio had run out of money when they were doing the opening scene, for all we have is a collage of storybook sketches from an artist's impression."

I agree for everything except for saying that the opening is bad. I think that is the best part in the movie.

I think it goes along way to explaining why Rescuers Down Under is underrated - it is a sequal to one of Disneys worst efforts. I know you feel differently, but just my opinion-for what it is worth(probably not much)/

THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER IS A DISNEY MOVIE?????
I love that movie! It's quite underrated. Some more underrated ones are The Great Mouse Detective, The Sword and the Stone, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Pooh's Grand Adventure (I love that one too!). As for overrated . . . I didn't like the Aristorcats very much at all. The songs were good, but the plot had been used many times before by better movies.

I loved that movie and would agree with you except for two characters. The main villain was hideously ugly. I've seen real life giant rats and everytime I saw him, I was reminded of the big, giant white rats with red eyes... yuck. The cat was also just wrong. Too fat and menacing looking. Bleah. I know they were bad guys, but they could have made them slightly more appealing. On the other hand, the story was great. The conversations were entertaining. The good guys were likable. And I just love Toby. He is perhaps the most lovable character of any Disney movie. I almost went and got a dog like Toby.

You're kidding right? If anything, "The Rescuers" looks like a sequel to "The Rescuers DownUnder" in terms of the animation. The original looks like a sad combo of The Aristocats-Robin Hood-Oliver :(

(I know you were quoting, but you were also agreeing with it).

I would say Bedknobs & Broomsticks (knocked off by Mary Poppins, unfairly), to some degree Pete's Dragon (although it does get some recognition), The Black Cauldron, Alice in Wonderland, the Sword in the Stone, Snow White (dismissed as too old by a lot of casual Disney viewers), and The Lion King 1 1/2 (too often grouped together with other crappy sequels).

I don't see how anyone could think that The Rescuers Down Under was a inferior film. But I guess it just amounts to personal taste. In my opinion, The Rescuers and The Great Mouse Detective are the only movies that warrant further adventures!
