Okay, I really get that, but I mean...

You make it sound like it randomly runs into us.

It is more like, we experience lots of things, and from those things we (our soul or whatever you want to call it) choose from all those things, because we like them.

Our interests, personality, the reason we stick with them is because of our soul.

I'm just gonna say one last thing, it's like, okay, so you know you like a certain blue stuffed animal when you see it later in life. But you still like that stuffed animal while not everyone does. It wasn't random. Your soul was always going to like that animal, it just found out it liked it when it saw it.

So all the things you like in life, there's a reason you like them while not everyone else does. Your soul.
