Thanks to him we have Princess and the Frog, some surprisingly good CG efforts, promising future movies, the return of Winnie the Pooh and many other things. He isn't Disney, but he definitely understands what Disney means and is working hard.

If Roy had passed away during the darker years then yeah, I would be worried and sad. But I am not.

Personally, I do trust Lasseter. I mean, without his help, the Disney Fairies series would have ended up sucking just as much as most people thought it would. Not to mention the fact that, without him, we would have no Pixar. But still, without Roy to help carry on the image and legacy of Walt... it's still the death of an era. Sure, Disney will continue to do great things without him. But still, it's almost like losing a part of Walt all over again....

This is tragic news. There were a few famous people that I've ever wanted to meet and he was one of them. Now that will never happen. He made a great impact on the company and will always be remembered for his contributions.

I will miss him greatly, and I also hope his efforts to keep traditional animation alive at WDS were not in vain.

RIP Roy!

Hopefully. I doubt that he will, though. Really, the other day, I was comparing how Disney started to how Pixar started. Steve Jobs was their Roy O. (with his business sense), Ed Catmull was their Ub Iwerks (with his technological know-how), and Lasseter was their Walt (with his creative and innovative spirit and daring to dream). I don't think he'll become another Eisner, even after Hell freezes over!

I very much doubt that. His passion for characters and telling stories is what made him and Pixar big. It's never been about the money, it's been about the stories and characters! Why would that ever change?

Well, you never can tell. You would probably have thought the same thing about Michael Eisner back in the day, long before he became evil.

I just hope that Lasetter is in fact the new heir to this throne. For all we know, it may just be wishful thinking...

Roy E. Disney always seemed so friendly. Something about looking at his face, listening to him speak, you just felt at ease, like you were with a great old friend.

He will be missed.

God left him with us until a traditional 2d Disney animated film was #1 at the box office. As I said in an earlier text, I remember when Walt passed (being one of the older forum members) & this is another very sad day for a family that has given the world so much.

I don't think Lasseter could fall into the same mode as Eisner and others, as he comes from more the creative side of things, though he does seem to have a business side too, so who knows for sure...

Hello....if you click on my signature below...and you see my avatar...you'll see how this is really effecting me emotionally....and I think im about to be on the cbs radio from LA jus called because they wanted to if they could interview me that they were asking if I could do a live interview in about 20 minutes.....so...tune in...i suppose.....

this is shocking to me and the next weeks are going to be hard...im mean I talked to him for 45 minutes in walt's old office and so many memories are flooding back to me.....

here's the link to my story...of my experience and to why this is effecting me personally and I feel like its someone playing a practical joke a rude at that.....It's just he was real...he even told me and my family that they use to build the rides for disneyland on the lot and told us a lot about how even when Pinocchio was released he was disappointed because his uncle walt's description sounded even better than the movie when he was young....

okay...I think I was just on nation wide radio CBS Radio National news on am radio or when CBS reports stuff on the radio....I litterally had 2 minutes or so i think...and I said what came to my mind and what you can say all in a 2 minute live interview.....

so even if you didn't catch it now...it could be on a report later tonight on teh cbs radio news like the nation's news like as in on am radio....

I just found out baout this a few minutes ago on the wdwmagic site and I was pretty shocked. I guess its mainly because I didn't know he was sick at all. I will always be grateful for what he did for the company and animation. I remember there was someone else on here who met him when I did in New York, maybe they'll post here? But he seemed to be a very nice guy and was very gracious, he will def be missed.
