I don't really care if that is the case or not. If a black character was played by a white man in make-up in a movie today, people would complain. I don't see why this should be any different. We're supposed to have moved beyond all that.pap64 wrote:For the record, the original Ubisoft version of "Prince of Persia" was also very Islamaphobic. Not only was the Prince very white, he had a VERY English accent, which clashed with his PERSIAN roots. So Disney ain't the first company to portray the Arabian Nights tales with white people.

I am guessing marketablility, like Cars. I see lots of sweatshirts and toys coming to a store near you soon.daydreamer22010 wrote:I wonder whats the reasoning for its production. Im guessing...financial?
I saw the trailer in front of Prince Caspian, and I'm not writing it off yet. I'm not holding my breath, either - but my 10 and 12 year old sons immediately said they wanted to see it. They may be marketing directly to the tween or even younger crowd. The trailer also was just a teaser that ultimately could have absolutely nothing to do with the movie at all.

Last night during "American Idol" was a new trailer for "Beverly Hills Chihuahua". I didn't like it as much as the teaser trailer, but not much can live up to that teaser trailer (I love that teaser trailer...it's so entertaining!)
The new trailer has clips from the actual movie in it. I can't find it online, but hopefully someone will upload it to YouTube soon. I'll probably still see the film in the theater, since it's bound to be a cute film.
BTW, IMDB.com has a short sypnosis:
While on vacation in Mexico, Chloe, a ritzy Beverly Hills chihuahua, finds herself lost and in need of assistance in order to get back home.

Sounds like a "stupid chihuahua edition" of Lady and the Tramp for me (or at least of the main)blackcauldron85 wrote: BTW, IMDB.com has a short sypnosis:

Usually I would said something like: "Yeah, I'll wait that on the cinema...when the three most powerful men in America are named Dick, Bush and Colon"ichabod wrote:Widdi wrote: You mean his freezer.
Grr. I'll get you for this Iger!
I've just had a thought for a movie, a bit like "The Mummy".
Frozen corpse of Walt Disney returns to seek vengeance.
Now, I'm thinking in getting some popcorns
This sums is up very well...

What I wonder now is...Is Disney going to see all the bashing and re-work the film so its less grating than what the teaser makes it out to be?
Really, Disney usually does a good job of presenting their teaser, no matter for what film. I may be wrong, but this might be the first time a Disney teaser has caused a very negative reaction in audiences.
I mean, the Pacifier, the Game Plan, College Road Trip, Underdog and many others may have sucked or were poorly received by the audience, but NONE of them has reached the bash status Chihuahua has achieved with JUST ONE TEASER.

This could very well be the start of a new viral video/internet meme phenomenon.
Just you wait, users will make YouTube Poop versions of the trailer, make their own version, post rants and MORE!
Oh and the for the biggest irony ever, the internet hate hype will likely make the film very successful
