Yep. You are right. My mistake.
"Stitch! takes place after Leroy & Stitch since Dr. Hamsterviel and a few cousins, such as Angel (the pink character pictured above) and Leroy are in the new series. For some reason, Stitch tries to break away from Jumba, but a space storm causes him to crash land back on Earth, this time on a fictional island at the Southern tip of Japan called Izaiyoi. His human companion is a 4th grade Japanese girl named Yūna. She teaches him of the stone of Chitama, an item that can make any wish come true... as long as the holder does 43 good deeds, thus creating the premise for the series. Stitch and Yūna travel around Izaiyoi trying to perform good deeds, even though several villains try to get in his way. The villians in the new series are Dr. Hamsterviel, Leroy and Experiment 627. Below is the only picture I was able to find of Yūna."

No, you're wrong read this ^ it's a little bit further up this page. This new series is called Stitch! not to be confused with the DTV film that was from the begining of the original animated series

LOL, and here I thought you guys meant a dub of it.

I didn't realize that it's starting in Japan... I thought it was going there already. The guy I know turns out to be the one who uploaded that video... so I guess it's a small world after all...

--EDIT--

Hey guys, ChibiGoku/Mendinso (person who fansubbed that video) asking DRF to post this on his post. Apparently this place requires an activation from the Admin, so I'm having include this real quick. Basically, Stitch! is a reimagining of the Lilo & Stitch franchies, rather than being continued from Leroy & Stitch. Just to clarify something else, Disney Channel in Japan isn't airing this, rather TV Tokyo at the moment

The blogger seems to only assume the show's events take place after the events in Leroy & Stitch. If this show is suppose to take place after Leroy & Stitch, what were Jumba and Stitch doing in outer space for Stitch to be crashing back on Earth again? They gave up their lives/careers in space in Leroy & Stitch to stay with Lilo. Also why Stitch was escaping from Jumba when they have a strong bond that was formed during their first stay on Earth that spanned over several years?

Stitch must be an amazingly popular character in Japan, which somehow isn't surprising. I can sort of understand the new location but it seems sad that they felt they had to replace Lilo. :(

Look, they said that the series has NOTHING to do with Lilo and Stitch and the sequel and series,it's a new and different universe.

"Stitch!" Anime

Post by Neal »

I've been interested in this "Stitch!" anime that Disney is putting out in Japan. I can't find very much about it online.

I wanted to know, is it a new continuity - as in it erases the old series (L&S, L&S: 2, TV series & TV series pilot/finale films) or does it continue that continuity?

mooky_7_sa - I so agree with you! I hate when the same company releases conflicting pieces of a story. Like how The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning conflicts with The Little Mermaid: The Series. It's quite irritating to me. If they must use the characters again, it needs to continue or prequel the events shown in the other films/tv shows, but not conflict or overwrite them.

Ariel'sprince - do you have a link/concrete proof that "Stitch!" is imaginary? Like the statement from Disney saying this?

As it stands, here's how I view the continuity:

>>>
The Origin of Stitch (Cartoon Short) [Prequel]
Lilo & Stitch (Theatrical Film) [Original Hub]
Stitch! The Movie (TV Show Pilot Film) [Sequel]
Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch (Direct-to-Video Film) [Sequel]
Lilo & Stitch: The Series (TV Show) [Sequel]
Leroy & Stitch (TV Show Finale Film) [Sequel]
Stitch! (Anime TV Show) [Sequel]
<<<

And while we're on the Stitch topic, can anyone tell me how many episodes of "Lilo and Stitch: The Series" are available in a Region 01 format?

I know that there's two episodes on the "Islands of Adventure" DVD game and one episode on "Leroy & Stitch". Are there any more legit DVDs/VHSs with episodes on them in Region 01?

Wow. Just think yourself lucky your not a comic book fan then. Cartoons, TV, Movies... all are different takes on the same characters. Even comics flirt around with alternative universes and regular "everything you know is wrong" retcons. Both Marvel and DC suffer from this to various extents with creations such as the All-Star comics, Ultimate Marvel Universe and shows or animations like Smallville and Spectacular Spider-Man (and who can forget joys such as Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends in the past?)

I don't think Disney or the Japanese really care about the continuity in this example. I personally don't think its that important. I just see it as a "re-imagineering" - something increasingly becoming more and more common.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I don't mind not having all the stories from each writing team intertwined. Netty is right, they've been doing it since comic books. Each new writing team has their own style on how THEY'D want it done and often readapt it and change details and skip details from the old stories.

Well, I'm a continuity freak! I really am! It gets under my skin when a continuity is messed up, but when one is continued or expanded upon I love it.

I have encountered such a reboot before and one particular reason I hated it was because it caused a schism.

It was for the Spyro the Dragon series. Spyro had a bunch of video games that were platformers and then suddenly the company rebooted the series and claimed all the old games no longer counted story-wise and turned Spyro into a fighting game. It not only made the 8-plus year loyal fans angry for being told the old series was being erased, the company also completely changed the style of the game. Now there's new fans and old fans and they brutally duel on Spyro forums over which Spyro is better.

If the company could have just made the switch in gameplay style without erasing the old continuity the anger never would have sprung up.

And I'm well aware that comic books do it, too - that's one reason I'm not interested in them.

Anyways, back on topic. Is it for sure that Stitch! is just imaginary? I've seen no proof of that anywhere - Ariel'sprince's statement of that is the only 'proof' I can find. I'm not calling you a liar - I just want something more concrete.

And which episodes of the first TV series are out in Region 01 on DVD or VHS?

Mesousa at ToonZone said the English dub has already aired in New Zealand and there's some changes.

I'm not a fan of the fact they cropped it, but, am glad Sanders came back to voice - despite the American Dog fiasco. I also like they added some animation to explain why Stitch left. No, he shouldn't have left to begin with, but at least there's continuity - which I'm a stickler for. Here's her report/opinion of the changes in the dub:
The english dub of the Stitch anime premiered in Disney Channel New Zealand (it's rumored to come in the US on ABC Kids), and, as you might expect, it's not exactly taking a liking on some fans, and it's sad, too, because most of the original english cast (Kevin McDonald, David Ogden Stiers and Chris Saunders) returned fro this, even:

1. Stitch, despite having Chris Sauders voicing him like in the movies and original series, sounds very strange, he even pronounces Stitch's alien language wrong, even though he never really had a problem like this before

2. Scenes are cut. Time restraints, I'm guessing.

3. It's cropped to 4:3, so no widescreen.

4 This is the biggest offender, though. The anime was made as some sort of alternate universe version of the franchise, but Disney thinks it's part of continuity, so they actually make Stitch leave Hawaii because Lilo has a boyfriend.

...You heard that right. Disney suddenly decide to be jerks and suddenly, they "split up the duo" just because Lilo has a boyfriend. Memo to Disney; Lilo shouldn't exist in the Stitch anime universe.

Thoughts on this?

From what I've heard, it continues the continuity and takes place after the series and Leroy & Stitch. Some of Stitch's cousins are in the series, particularly Angel.

Found the opening from the English dubbed version, but no clips from the actual show in English yet.

And this may be living proof of why there shouldn't be a Kingdom hearts animated anime show.......or why Pluto or Goofy doesn't go to japan..... :P

after seeing that....I am not so sure i wanna see a single full episode of that.....

Honestly it's Like the Sonic X.....Sonic the Hedgehog with anime like human characters.......disturbing :headshake:
