Pinocchio Platinum Edition

I think you are onto something, but I think it goes further than that. October is only two months away from December, the Fall Platinums are planned for Christmas. Basically, the most successful movies are planned for Christmas. The princess movies are more successful to Disney because, well, more people love them, especially the little girls who want their parents to buy, buy, buy. And their merchandise always extends through the whole year, but they start selling it early so it will be out by Christmas, but they really pack it on as the year gets closer to December. So kids will see the movie in Fall or Christmas and want the merchandise around Christmas, too.

Pinocchio seems more liked by boys, who won't buy that much merchandise for it and I heard they aren't big on animated films (which baffles me, I would think boys would like cartoons more, like comics). It's also dark and disturbing and perhaps more "adult". Disney's just going to get more out of the princess films. Maybe it's more of a kids, girls, and families thing.

Good idea about Christmas and also people will liked to buy also the merchandise :D so in the fall they"ll get the DVD and in Christmas they"ll get the merchandise :D,but isn't that also makes a whole year for the Princess?.
And i don't think it's about little boys\girls at all,how many Pinocchio merchandise did you saw? maybe little of Jimminy Cricket (Jibbtz for exmaple),how many Aurora or any Sleeping Beauty merchandise do you see? and also the Princess films makes more money.

Well, a fellow forum member received an advanced copy and confirmed it for us. And if thats not enough, you can scroll down a bit on the home page, because it has been confirmed there as well.

A user who already has the 101 Dalmatians DVD has stated that the DVD Guide reveals Pinocchio as the Spring 2009 PE, a few days latter the main site confirmed.

What are the odds of Disney adding a possible in depth virtual tour of Pleasure Island?? that'd be so totaly wicked to view.

About time! Pinocchio kept getting rumored about it's release date. Thank God we know for sure this time! :D Can't wait.

BTW, how many love that beautifully directed climax - by Wolfgang Reitherman - with Monstro at the end of the film? :)

I think it's pretty good.

That would be good, too. But you know how the Snow White PE came with a set-top game involving the dwarfs and their mine to save Snow White? Well, I was thinking of a similar set-top game for Pinocchio. It would be called: Escape From Pleasure Island.

In this game, Pinocchio has just learned the shocking truth of Pleasure Island. Now he's in grave danger! It's up to you and Jiminy Cricket to save him and yourself before either of you turn into a donkey! With Jiminy Cricket as your guide, escort Pinocchio off the dangerous island, all the while completing a slew of missions as you go. Sounds like an easy task, doesn't it? And perhaps it would be, had the villainous Coachman (who wants you both to turn into donkeys) not heard of your attempted escape and laid numerous traps in your path to slow you down. If you spring a trap, you will be forced to answer a trivia question about the movie. And even if you do make it to the cliff at the end of Pleasure Island, beyond which lies the sea and the route to the mainland, you still have to make a brave decision...

Also, you know how the Snow White and Fantasia DVDs' respective "making-of" DVDs are narrated by people who did voices in "Beauty and the Beast" (Angela Lansbury and David Odgen Stiers, respectively), maybe the "making-of" documentary to be on the Pinocchio DVD (I'm sure they'll include one) should be narrated by another person who did a voice in "Beauty and the Beast". I'm thinking of Robby Benson, who actually hosted the Pinocchio laserdisc.

I have been wanting this movie for years. I haven't seen it since I was very little, and I've missed it! Glad to hear it's coming after Sleeping Beauty!

Hooray~! :D :D I'm glad Pinocchio will be released in Spring of next year. Since this is one of my all-time favorite Disney films, my mind was pondering what will the bonus features be. I know I'm to estatic for this but it would be awesome if Disney will include one of Figaro cartoons as well as Jiminy cartoons.

Definately can't wait for this one. 8)

I absolutely cannot wait for this Platinum Edition to come out. This was my favorite movie when I was little and it is about time we have a great 2-disc set that this movie deserves. Does anybody have any new details on possible extras/bonus features? I want to see the cover art so bad! How far ahead of a PE release do details usually start to come out?

We probably won't get any details until around the time when "Sleeping Beauty" is released on Platinum Edition.

Stickin with good ol' Dvd, + I don't know much bout Blu Ray, what's so great bout Blu anyways?? aside from the fact that it can hold 5x more bonuses.

Well, the picture and sound quality are superbly better. Since I've had my PS3, my Blu-rays and DVDs look and sound amazing. I can't picture myself going back. People can say that the film quality looks just fine on standard-def, but they don't know what they are missing with full 1080p high definition.

Anyway, I just cannot wait for the Blu-ray version of "Pinocchio" simply because my VHS is running down and I need a definite upgrade. And since there were hardly any bonus features on either the VHS or the DVD, the Blu-ray seems the perfect update to Disney's wonderful film.

Maybe so, but I would've thought that they'd do that to Snow White or Fantasia first.
