I was wondering more about how they would work over 'Beauty'.

The last digital 3-D movie I saw was 'Monsters vs. Aliens' and even when there wasn't something coming right at you, the depth in the animation was spectacular. That's one thing I can say positively about MvA - it wasn't littered with "in-your-face" gimmicks like say "Journey to the Center of the Earth," where you get the feeling that's the whole point (Brendan Frasier spits his toothpaste into the audience at the beginning and a T-Rex is drooling his own saliva in your direction by halfway in). It made balanced use of the technology while telling its plotline.

I'm really hoping that Disney includes a 3D "Beauty" trailer with this. It would be greatly appreciated from me as well as many others.

I think they would be stupid not to play the Beauty and the Beast trailer in front of this. Not everybody will venture to the movie theater and pay roughly $9 per person to see a film in 3-D that they have seen countless times, or possibly even own. So the audience that goes to see Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3-D is basically going to be the same audience that goes to see Beauty and the Beast a few months later.

While it can be assumed that many who attend this double-feature will have kids younger than 6 who were to young to experience the films when they were last released on home video, I think both the Toy Story films and Beauty and the Beast are part of the pop-culture of today. I really hope that these releases make money because I would be thrilled to see Disney return to theatrical re-releases. Even if the films do have to be remastered in 3-D. As a child of the late 80's, I got to experience many of the classics for the first time in their final theatrical releases, including The Jungle Book, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmatians, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White. As a kid, I think there is something really exciting about seeing a movie in the theater.

They would be wise to keep the momentum going by not only advertising Beauty and the Beast before Toy Story, but also advertising Dumbo with Beauty and the Beast, which is rumored to be the next 3-D rerelease. In its Imax run, Beauty and the Beast made $25 million on only 68 screens. Granted, it did have the draw of having a brand new scene plus the hype of its 10th anniversary. The Lion King, also in its Imax 10th anniversary release, made $15 million on 66 screens with nothing new in the film to draw audiences. So I think that with better advertising and a wider release (most major theaters have digital screens capable of playing 3-D movies), I would estimate that Disney should make between $15 and $30 million for each. Although the 3 hour run-time for the Toy Story package might make it less profitable, since theaters won't be able to play it a frequently.

Variety reports that the 3-D versions of Pixar’s Toy Story and Toy Story 2 will premiere at the 66th Venice Film Festival in September marking the festival’s lifetime award to John Lasseter and the Pixar directors. The Venice film festival will run September 2-12.

Ive seen the Toy Story 3 logo like this (heres a pic I took of a poster in MGM last week for those who havnt seen http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3381/352 ... b6e2_b.jpg ), but still waiting on a high res of it. I'm guessing we'll see it pop up sometime before the summer is over.

But what do you guys think of these new logos? I kinda liked the older ones better because of their more minimalistic approach, but these aren't bad, and it does keep the spirit of the original.

I think that they fit perfectly with reissuing the films in 3D; they're basically the same as the old logos, just polished up a bit, as they should be for a 3D release, IMO.

Probably not, especially with the first one. I don't know if it would fit in with the background as much the other one does, with all the shadows and such.

It's a 3-D movie. It's not supposed to "fit in" with the background. It's supposed to pop off the screen. One of the coolest part of seeing The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D was the opening title sequence. Different words felt closer than others and some felt farther away and it was a really great effect. Personally, I hope they do use those new logos in the 3-D versions of the film. Obviously, I would like the original version on the Blu-Ray, but I think they could do some cool things with the 3-dimensional logos.

I think it depends on the movie though. Toy story has it almost looking like it's part of the wallpaper, completly flat. While 2 has the logo completly in your face. I think if they change one it should be 2 and leave the first alone. 3d in real movies (and not theme park attractions) are supposed to complement the movie, otherwise it feels too gimmiky.

They have said though they were doing small tweaks to make things pop a bit more, so it could go either way I think.

That could be.....but something tells me were more likely to see G-Force in it's 3D Debut trailer....

But I am hopeful for some sorta Toy Story trailer before the viewing of UP...I mean When Finding Nemo came to theaters they showed a teaser trailer of The Incredibles of Mr. Incredible trying to put on his belt...and usually that's how its been....Pixar unveils even if its as little as they say Toy Story 3 in 3D coming next summer to theaters and thats it....

Oh... I didn't realize that since I didn't go to the 3D showing of Jonas Brothers.....but perhaps they will replay that one becauses I am guessing more people will see UP in 3D than Jonas Brothers in 3D

But I still agree....there should be some hint of Toy Story in a form of a trailer
