We could have everyone take a picture and post it here...or videotape it and put it on youtube!

Anyway, I bought half of the gift for my Secret Cindy Lou Who on Monday, and am currently looking to see whether to order the other half online or just buy it in-store. Hopefully it will be sent out by the end of the week, or at the very latest, early next week.

Was it you who did it last year? Didn't mean to snatch it from anyone... feel free to take over if you want! If not, I'll keep it up.

I did the tracking in 2005 and 2006, but I'm not really up to doing it this year. Plus, you've already got the list nice and ready in your post and it'd be a shame to waste it. ;)

Well I just received my gift from my Secret Santa yesterday and it is just what I wanted the most: Disney's, "The Greatest Game Ever Played" DVD!!!!

:pink: :pink: :pink:

Thanks to MickeyMouse Pal for getting me this great DVD and for including a page of Disney Stickers!

This DVD has been on my Xmas list (given to my family) for 2 years, yet no one ever bought it for me. I have seen this movie 3 times (once in the theater and twice on TV) and it is highly under-rated. Can't wait to watch it again.

Thanks again MickeyMouse Pal for making my Xmas that much more Disney magical!!

:)

I'm in a bit of a predicament, I asked my Dad for his card to buy my gift today and he asked what for and I explained and despite telling him 3 weeks ago he claims I never did, so I'm not allowed to do this, but I'm not sure if my gift has been sent to me yet so I'm not quite sure what to do...

Well I got my gift off into the mail this AM. It went media mail (too heavy), insured, delivery confirmation. It will arrive in about 6 or 7 days.

Not sure what to tell you other than this: find a way to buy and send something on your own means or I'll regretfully have to ban you from the forum. Your SS has already bought something and sent it out to you, so there's nothing else that can be done at this point.

There are other ways to make money other than dad's change purse.

If it snows where you are, offer to shovel for some cash. 1-3 houses of that and you should have enough money. Also raking leaves, mowing lawns, walking dogs, babysitting. I was making money from neighbors as young as 12 years old.

Or show your father this site and tell him how you took responsibility to give a gift to another and your gonna be punished simply for the fact that your father ignored and didn't listen to what you told him 3 weeks ago. Guilty conscience might work. If not, find a really good shovel/rake.

I agree - talk to your father. You're really in a spot, either because he forgot or because you didn't really secure his permission.... offer to him that you will do some chores or whatever would please him for the next month or two, if he will give you the money so you can fulfill your obligation here. That is what I would do at this point. Siren has some nice suggestions around approaching the neighbors, but you are running out of time and neighbors may or may not cooperate. I would approach dad first - can he front the money, can you work around the house for it, can you get an advance on your allowance, etc.

I thought I'd give you my advice on this too - if the main problem you're having is ordering something - just try and get a shop-bought gift. If the problem is that you have no money, then really you should probably have thought about this before you signed up.
Do you mind if I ask how old you are? If you are 16 or older you can get a 3v card. This allows you to buy vouchers which you can spend on the internet in place of a credit card - the only problem is they have to post the card to you, so it may not arrive in time to order your gift.

Ultimately, your best bet may be just to show the site to your Dad, as well as your email detailing your assignment. When he realises that you have entered into an agreement he may realise that this isn't just something that will affect you, but also your recipient who is expecting a gift.

I can understand how his son announcing that he needs to borrow a credit card to send a gift around the world to a stranger from the internet sounds like an absolute con unless you know this site well enough to realise what a close community it is.

Anyways, I hope everything works out for you and your recipient!

Best of luck!!!

OK I ordered my gift. It will probably ship on Monday. I hope it works out cause this is the first time I used Deep Discount to do this. But Amazon would have been too expensive.

Yamiiguy, if all of those options fail, their's really only one option left - Join the mafia and get paid to whack somebody. :D In all seriousness, I hope things work out for you. It would suck if someone had to get banned because their dad was too lazy to let their kid borrow some money to buy a gift.

As for me, I've bought my gift for my SS and am planning to ship it out via Overnight on Monday, hoping to get it there by Tuesday. :)

I feel your anxiety - sometimes they can give great service - one year ordered about a half dozen DVDs for Xmas from them and no problem - but the year Cinderella came out, I had to wait and wait because they said it was on back-order. I ordered all my DVDs this year through links here to Amazon, so at least UD will get something too.

For those of you who still haven't bought their SS gift, think about using the links here for the DVDs, so the site makes some money. I know it isn't always practical for everyone, but if you can, its a good way to give back to this site.
