looks okay, but.......I still prefer the ORIGINAL.

My niece who grudgingly watched the original probably would want to see it.

Has anyone read the original book?

I know the girl is Anna Sophia Robb, who's the boy?
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Whoa, finally got to check this trailer out . . . and boy am I eager to see it!

I like the plot this go around . . . I'm guessing it'll be much better than the original sequel was (The original "Escape to Witch Mountain" was true genius though; the sequel/follow-up film was crud.). However, I like the cast thus far (And I second jediliz's question: Who is the boy that plays Tony (if that happens to be his name - I'm only calling him that because we haven't learned it yet)? EDIT: Never mind - it's Alexander Ludwig.)

I'm getting high hopes for this remake, so I'll probably hit it up when it's released!

EDIT: Actually, Wikipedia's Race to Witch Mountain page says that the new twins are named Seth and Sara, but naturally, this is Wiki we're talking about. I haven't a clue if it's true or not. Just thought you'd like to know!

And apparently the actors of the original "Witch Mountain" twins, Tia and Tony, will be making cameos in this new film. Awesome. :)

It's funny I just realized how similar this and the original are to John Carpenter's Starman, with Jeff Briges playing the alien, and Karen Allen playing the human the alien hitches a ride with, while being pursued by government agents.

I'm excited to see this movie too! Love the sci-fi/adventure elements but it's also got some laughs, which I aways appreciate. Special effects look really cool too. I also really like the cast....Dwayne Johnson does not get enough credit for his movies, thought he was great in Get Smart, The Game Plan, The Rundown, Walking Tall, etc. Plus how can you go wrong with Carla Gugino?

Yeah, I think it's just a more modern-day twist to the original movies, so you don't necessarily need to watch the old ones to get this one. It just takes place in the new and now :)

Yah, I saw that today! Hehe, I liked the beginning with the Storm Troopers  Really loving those special effects! And showed a lot more action sequences too - looks like it's shaping up to be a very action-packed movie! They should make this a ride @ Disney World - LOL

Who is going to see Race to Witch Mountain this weekend?
I'm pretty excited for it! The trailers all looked really good.

I think I'm going to watch the first two during the week. We're going to see the movie on Friday afternoon.

I'm excited to see it! I love all the clips that have been released so far, makes the movie seem like action-packed fun.

If you've watched the trailers as much as I have, you might be interested in entering this contest they have on YouTube, where you can win a trip to Vegas (sounds good to me!) It's pretty easy to enter, you just answer 3 questions about some film clips and you're set. I've already entered :-P

There are 2 threads for this film, but this one has newer posts, so I'll post it here!

Some reviews are out:

I actually got to see a screening of the movie last night (yay!) and I think both those reviews are pretty spot on. It was fun and enjoyable and action-packed...like, once the chase scenes got started it literally did not stop until the very end. The kid next to me was on the edge of his seat the whole time (also proof that both kids and adults will like it!)

Ooooh, great!! :D
I can't wait to watch this tomorrow (gah, hopefully... if not Saturday, maybe next weekend... ) after waiting about 4 months for it. I saw a trailer for it back in December, and have been super excited ever since. I was actually really excited for this for a long time, since I happen to be a huge AnnaSophia Robb fan.
Can't wait to watch this!

P.S. Kinda disappointed it's only 98 min. I only wish it was longer...

I saw it yesterday. When my dad picked me up, he said the reviewer on the radio said it would appeal to age 4 or 5 to 11/12. This reviewer doesn't realize that fans of the ORIGINAL movie might see it (I LOVE the original).

We saw it on Friday night in a packed theater. While it wasn't the best thing I've ever seen, it was another great family-quality safe action live-adventure from Disney that my family thoroughly enjoyed. All of us liked it - ages 4, 6, 11, 11, 13, 32, and 40. I wish our family could afford to see it another time, but we will most likely have to wait until it comes to the budget theaters...

By the way, my husband never saw the original movies and you don't have to. It took the plot in a whole new direction and didn't relate back to the old stories much at all. There were some great references to the originals hidden in the movie though.

Definitely going to buy on DVD...I mean Blu-ray.

I saw it on Saturday :) It was pretty good. I wish there had been more references to the original films but over all I enjoyed it.
