Plus-Sized Disney Princess?

But Prudence and Adella are supporting characters. I'm talking about leading ladies. It seems that anyone not perfect is either the fat friend or skinny sidekick. Why can't we have a petite spunky spitfire princess or a pleasantly plump princess? It's like a descrimination initself. Why can't other body types be beautiful too?

Plus-Sized Princesses
As for petite, I have thought for the longest time that Ariel looks anorexic. Now, I'm sure it's just because she only eats sea weed and swims a lot, but she looks so tiny (which may have been to make her fit the title LITTLE mermaid), and it's especially noticable when she comes out of the water as a human.
Aurora also looks like she could be a size 0. We need more plump (and a HEALTHY plump, no obese peeople, we don't want to teach unhealthy eating habits) princesses than petite princesses.

Quite true. (Heck, it's thinner than Prue's!) I think there is enough diversity, as it is. Again, having a significantly overweight princess seems too politically correct.Aladdin from Agrabah wrote:Are you people kidding? Have you ever seen Megara's waist? It's scandalous how tiny it is!

That's hot.
I think it would be nice to see a more fully figured character or princess. Not obese or anything because that would promote being unhealthy. Cause everyone has a different genetic make up some people are naturally bigger and others are naturally thin. But I hope they wouldn't just think up the idea cause then it would just all be for political correctness.
Same with the whole idea of The Frog Princess. I wouldn't want the story to revolve around the idea that she's an African American. Hopefully it will just be she's another Princess character like everyone else, cause then it will show that Disney isn't trying to be politically correct and that the Princess is equal to the other Disney Princesses where their ethnicity isn't an issue.

Animated characters are stylistic representations of something, and may or may not be "realistic". That's the beauty and charm of animation - anything from a princess to a box of fries can be given "life". They don't __have__ to make sense as we know it.
Take Popeye and Olive Oyl - virtually impossible as real people, they work as personalities thanks to animation, voice work, and interaction.
And Aurora - though her animation's referenced from live action, her design is heavily influenced by Medieval art _and_ Walt's fondness for big hips (she'd look absurd in slacks or jeans!).
Meg picked up a lot of influences from Grecian art and Ward Kimball "Toot Whistle Plunk Boom" styling.
IMHO, one of the most realistic (if a little top heavy) "Princesses" is Esmeralda, based on Demi Moore.
Meanwhile, we'll just have to wait and see how PATF's heroine ends up!
