Is that all you have to do? It says on their site that you should register the discs in order to be qualified for replacements. However, I couldn't log in with my Disney.fi ID to register the discs, and customers outside of North America are asked to register at their local Disney sites. Confusing.
Yes Billy Moon, that is all you have to do. At least it is what I have done on both the True Life Adventures discs and now with More Silly Symphonies discs. I quickly got an email from them stating that they had recorded my complain and that they should send out the new discs. In the case of the True Life Adventure it only took five days before they were in my hands. I have not yet got the More Silly Symphonies discs but I hope they soon will be here as well.
So don´t let all the other fuss stop you from doing the replacement.

I just received e-mails telling me they'll send replacement discs as soon as I reply with my full address. Apparently it was that easy. :)

Were the video interlacing issues present on the original disc or is this an anomaly with the new pressing?

I haven't noticed it myself, but it's been months since I've screened the set and perhaps I wasn't paying close attention. I'm just curious if there's reason to hang onto the initial pressings for this one short?

Today is the first time I could check the dvds although they arrive last Saturday, and the first thing I notice is a different print quality, almost inadvertently in the disc 1 but quite noticeable in disc 2 especially the brightness in colors... well may be I am asking too much.

Also thanks to MK Sharp for the comparison pictures, it definitely shall make it easy now to find the differences.

But then the dilemma, if almost every one is changing their dvds, may be the originals will became more "rare" therefore more valuable, in the other hand the correction in the content may just worth the replacement, well is time to see the shorts side by side (my son is already impatient waiting for me to star the show) to find out my final decision on either replace the originals or send back the replacements....

Yes, MK Sharp, thanks for doing all that hard work by comparing the old vs. new disks. That is a big relief to someone like me who doesn't have the time to take a look at the new disks (plus I never watched my old ones!). So it appears they've fixed many problems; more than what Disney had said they would do, so this is good news!

If you get to keep the original disks, you dilemma is resolved, however, if you have to send them back, I'd send them back in favor of receiving the corrected ones. I doubt there will be any type of collector's value attached to the original flawed version. Be sure if they require you to return them that you do, or you might get yourself put on some sort of DVD blacklist and they might not accommodate you on future recalls.

I mean which of the sets should I keep now the originals or the replacement, since I have the gadgets to back up this staff it is not necessary to trick this guys whit a cheapy move  ...

I could see now the "Night before Christmas" completeness and the order not yet on the title cards, too hot in Southern LA to keep this comparison...a call for a break is done.

The Goddess Of Spring was an interlaced transfer on the original disc. I'd say the new version is a slight improvement, because it contains fewer interlaced frames.

(The other short which is presented interlaced on both versions of the discs is the extended cut of Cannibal Capers; although that's presumably because the edit to graft the ending back on was done in the video domain.)

WOW :o
Incredible!
I am amazed.
Just three days from I got the confirming email from Disney, until I have the discs in my hands today.
Three days from USA to Sweden, and that without any Express Service (at least what I can see from the outside of the package!).
A big hurrah and thank you to the great service from Disney.
(Now I should go and watch them, hope they are alright so I had not shouted too much, too early!)

Wow...

So, I actually GOT the replacement disks today and they were shipped out the day I called them!!! (Monday) :o :o :o

Just thought I'd let you guys know incase anyone else was in my predicament as far as time: Disney DOES send these things out fast!! And despite the fact that I expected to get the "envelope" first THEN the disks, I plan to essentially "uphold my honor" with Disney through sending back the old disks (assuming these are fine and truely the replacments...) as well as fill out the form.

I do plan to check the disks tommorow, since it's starting to get late here, but I am looking forward to it!

Anyway, all I have left to say is: I cannot BELIEVE what a fantastic job Disney / Buena Vista is doing as far as consumer (or customer) relations and this particular DVD replacement as a whole! And like I said before; I wish Warner Bros. customer services were similar to Disneys.

Hmm... Haven't received my replacements, though I had received an e-mail right after I registered them for replacement that they would be sent out when they are available (probably somewhere February this year??)

I guess I'll wait until Sunday. If they haven't arrived by then, I will reply on that original mail.....
If people from Europe are already receiving the discs, I guess I could have received them too (I'm from The Netherlands).
Any other people from The Netherlands that requested the replacement discs and haven't (or have) received them?

I didn´t email them - I went to their homepage and reported the discs in the problem-section. The "confirming" email I was talking about, was the email they sent me to confirm that they were going to send the discs out to me in a hurry. But I couldn´t imagine that it should go so fast... :P

I just called Disney because I have not received my replacements yet and they said I had to mail the discs I have first. On the True Life Adventures they sent me the discs first and according to the forum here the SS discs are sent first. So what's the deal here?

So, I'm comparing my (now) 2 copies of More Silly Symphonies, and I must also add for those who haven't noticed yet that there is a notable change in the video presentation for the short "The Merry Dwarfs." On the old disk, it seems that it's actually more zoomed in which results in a little loss of picture and weird cropping. Also, the short on the replacement has the rounded corners in the picture...

I'll post more when I've looked at disk 2...so far, I think it's worth the effort of getting the new disks.

Ok, so I looked through disk 2 and all seemed well. I was happy that Disney decided to reinstate that scene in Night Before Christmas and I understand a little about why they put it in the vault section afterwards. (Though now the insert is a little messed up, but it's ok as long as I get the truely uncut shorts. :) )

I just thought I'd also point out to those who might be looking for a way to distinguish between the actual disks. It seems that the disk art on the replacements are actually darker than the old disks. This especially true for disk 2 where the art seems a bit faded on the old disk. The texture on the new disk art also seems a bit rougher.

I'm glad I got these replacements! Now I'm going to try to go through the trouble of shipping the old disks off. :P

So has everyone got the discs first then sent the defectives back? That rep today told me I had to send them in first but I'm nervous about that since when I mailed in my BTTF discs and they gotr lost in the mail and Universal told me tough luck.

I filled out the form today on the Disney DVD Tech site, and I was wondering if I would get an e-mail and it would tell me to send them in, or would Disney just send the discs to me and I would be able to keep the others (not that I need them, but maybe I could give them to the library, hope they don't need the packaging :D)?? Could anyone help me with that?

Well spotted! I've added a section on my webpage (here) with a screen-cap showing the difference.

Why, thank you! :) When I was looking over the replacement disks, I was watching the old disks at the same time (using my portable DVD player and our regular LCD TV w/ DVD player) to compare the differences. When I got to "The Merry Dwarfs" however, I noticed the difference in the transfer and I thought at first that it was a fluke on the portable DVD player. So for some sort of confirmation for what I was seeing, I placed the old Disk 1 into the other DVD player and saw the same thing... :o So I figured I'd let you guys know.

Well, I got mail today from BVHE, and I'm sending my old discs back to be replaced. It took 3 days to get here, so I'm thinking that it will take 3 days to travel back to Neenah, and then another 3 days to have the new discs sent here. So, I'm roughly looking at next Monday (Right you are Harry, "No post on Sundays.")
