Sadly, I'm too young for a job, but I hope I can wait tables while in high school when I'm old enough. My friends and I are already planning our senior trip even though we're just about to be Freshmen. Haha

So, I had received a Facebook message from a guy who works with Al Gore's environmental organization. I took a while to email him back, because I was just behind on email. He and I emailed back and forth yesterday and today, and we talked on the phone today. I don't know if it's an actual interview or if I already have the position, but it's for an internship with Repower America. I was a bit leary, since the guy sounded not as professional as I would expect, and the phone number was blocked, and he found me on Facebook (I'm a member of some FB environmental groups, so I think that's how he found me), and so I called the Washington, DC headquarters, and sure enough, it's all legit. It would be unpaid, but the guy said that they'll try and see what they can do about getting me a paid opportunity, but I think that means they'll help me network, but that's cool.

So, hopefully all goes well tomorrow. It's still not paid, and I really need a paid job, I really, really do. But at least it'll be something. If I get it. I'm still confused. But yay.

Good luck :D. Do you think you'll make it to an interview...?

Thanks!:D

I don't know. It's my first official job, but I have done plenty of volunteer work, and have been employed at my family's store from time to time. My real worry is how many hours I'll have to put in.

Good luck, Andrew- I hope you get an interview...and then a job!!! :pink:

Thanks, Cameron! It still seems fishy to me, but I did call the Washington, DC headquarters, but I mean, the guy found me on Facebook, and I practically have the internship already. Weird. But hopefully some good comes out of it! Thanks! :)

So, the guy had said take a right, go through 2 lights, and then take a left. Of course I forgot those directions at home. My directions from Google Maps really didn't help, since there were a lot of directions one can go in at the exit. I got quite lost, and then when I saw a street that I knew could take me home, I just went home. I just emailed the guy- I said sorry for getting lost, and can we meet up Monday. I still have a weird feeling about the whole thing...but we'll see what he says. I kind of don't care either way- I just need a paying job. I should job hunt today. Bobby said that JoAnn Fabrics is hiring part-time for seasonal employment (he saw the sign), so I could try there, and off to CareerBuilder I should go later. I hate this. :(

Sorry for the triple post. After getting advice from our very own DaveWadding, I emailed the guy saying, pretty much, that I need to focus on getting a paid opportunity and not focus on an unpaid internship.

The whole situation was just a bit skeevy, so better safe than sorry. Bobby will probably be mad, a) for not consulting him, and b) for blowing it all. Whatever.
