Cinderella II Song Break-down

Post by Disney Duster »

atlanticaunderthesea wrote:With all the Cinderella hype flying around, I wondered if I could ask a qu about her singing -- --

Did cindy have a song she sang herself in Cinderella II? And if so, was it good/bad/ugly? As I can't remember!
No, she didn't sing. The first song was "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" with the Fairy Godmother using her magic to help make the book the mice worked on. Then, there was "Follow Your Heart", which I really like, but it was sung by Brooke Allison in the background while Cinderella gave invitations out and prepared for the ball in "her way". Cinderella wasn't singing that, the song was just background music. Then there was "The World Is Looking Up To You" sung by Brooke Allison in the background as Jaq walked around for his first time as a human. Then there was the song "It's What's Inside That Counts" sung by Brooke Allison in the background while Anastasia got a make-over by Cinderella and Lucifer got a makeover by the mice (for Pom-Pom). Then, the mice sang "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" as they ran through the palace to deliver their finished book to Cinderella. Finally, Brooke Allison's "Put It Together (Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo)", my favorite song actually, played over the start of the end credits. And then I felt empty and sad. :P

Wicked! Thanks Disney Duster for an informative post as ever! :)

Good, I'm glad I wasnt going crazy, as I swore Cindy didn't actually sing anything in II. Its kind of strange though, isnt it? I cannot think of any Disney Princess sequel movie where the heroine isnt given a brand new song to sing, even if it is just one. With background songs playing when the 'action' is taking place is a simmilar format to that of The Rescuers, yes? Nobody actually sings in that movie, apart from R-E-S-C-U-E, and insted the characters are being 'sung to' by an off screen voice. Making a Cindy sequel would have been an ideal opportunity for one of the most popular Princesses to have another new theme song to slap on Disney Princess CDs!

Its sad that people are mainly saying the most negative thing about Cindy III is the music, which is a shame, as the music was a great part of the beauty and magic of the original. I did like the song they previewd though!

I was curious, so I've listed the songs the Princesses sing in their part II movies:

The Little Mermaid II: Return To The Sea ~ Down To The Sea, For A Moment, Here On The Land And Sea.

'For A Moment' is the most used from TLMII.

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas ~ As Long As There's Christmas and the Reprise, Stories, A Cut Above The Rest.

Suprisingly, none of these are used really, even though 'Stories' if one of the best, if not THE best DTV song. And the score was composed by Rachel Portman.

Belle's Magical World ~ Listen With Our Hearts, A Little Thought.

I've never heard of any of these songs being used anywhere!

Aladdin: The Return of Jafar ~ Nothing In The World (Quite Like A Friend), Forget About Love.

Forget About Love again features on some Disney Princess CDs.

Aladdin and the King of Theives ~ There's a Party Here in Agrabah, Out of thin Air.

The latter is sometimes on Princess albums.

It is quite suprising how little effort Disney puts into providing decent songs to its DTV movies. Especially as that it almost half the movie, as the songs will be issued on CD's etc. The most effort was put into, I feel, BATB II. Great composer, and a great set of songs. Heck, 'Stories' is one of my favourite Disney songs all together, never mind it being DTV. As the animation and plot lines are slowly improving, so should the songs, I feel.

Disney Princess Voices

Post by Disney Duster »

Thanks atlanticaunderthesea! Oh, by the way, I want to tell you that you are not alone in loving the music for Cinderella III: A Twist In Time! I know you loved the "Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah" from the end of the trailrs for it, and I loved it, too! You're like the only person who even mentioned it, so I'm glad you did. It made me think the music for the movie would be like the original, like you thought, because the original had cool choral voices like that. So far, it looks like they have choral voices in "The Spell" scene, but I hope there's more. Also, I loved the song Cinderella sang in the 8-minute sneak peek, like you did!

So I really hope they do release a CD for the movie, because I like everything I've heard, even "I Still Believe", and they could make bucks with how successful this sequel looks like it will be (advertisements are everywhere all the time!). Also, all the latest sequels have had them, like Bambi II, Brother Bear II, and The Fox and the Hound II, or at least they had a downloadable album on iToons. And we know that the future The Little Mermaid III will get one! Now this will be the only Cinderella movie without all the songs released (even II got them on the Princess Favorites CD)! Perhaps there will be a demand for it after people have seen the film.

As for the list of your favorite sequel songs, it looks good, but I haven't heard 'em all, and I don't remember 'em all, though I know I like "Stories". I think some of the sequel songs can be ranked with the feature songs, too! They can be very good! I've surprisingly listened to "Put It Together", the so-called "new rendition" of "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" by Brooke Allison many times!

I thought that I would update this post with all the Disney Princess hype at the moment! It would seem, that after coming to so many conclusions to subject of their voices, Disney has shuffled them around again!

Snow White ~ Melissa Disney

Cinderella ~ Jennifer Hale (speaking) / Tami Tappan (singing)

Aurora ~ ? ? ? ? We now no longer know who is providing her voice, as it does not sound like Jennifer Hale or Kim Huber

Ariel ~ Jodi Benson

Belle ~ Paige O'Hara (speaking) / Susan Eagan (singing - she has stated she is doing yet more Princess CD's as Belle, and we know Paige is availible, as she sings a song on the Peter Pan DVD, which would lead to the conclusion that Susan has taken over?)

Jasmine ~ Linda Larkin (speaking) / Lea Salonga (singing - despite some disagreements, it is indeed Lea singing on the Enchanted Tales DVD).

Would it be possible for anyone to upload the sneak preview of the Enchanted Tales DVD that features on Cinderella III DVD? Then we might get a better idea of Aurora's voice?

Lea and Jodi voice a *lot* of other heroines, as well. Doesn't Jodi also voice Belle at times?

Paige O'Hara is still the voice for Belle, although it seems as though she has a bit of a hesitancy (sp?) to voice Belle at times. She did an episode of the Disney World podcast talking all about how being Belle has changed her life. I think that she may at times hold out for higher pay, only not to get it? She didn't do House of Mouse, but did Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II and will be in Enchanted Tales, as far as we've heard (but counter to our speculation). Jodi did, as someone said, also voice Belle for House of Mouse, and the way she said it "I did a voice-alike for Paige" made it sound as though it was a personal reason Paige hadn't done it (and she has done it since).

bruno_wbt, if you look back on his thread, you will find the answers that you are looking for. It isnt that long a thread, so it will be quick to find. Sorry that I won't explain it all to you, but as I said, it is already there!

Prudence, I didnt know that both Lea and Jodi voiced lots of other heroines as well!? All I knew was that Lea did the singing of Jasmine and Mulan, and Jodi voiced Ariel, Anita, Lady, and sometimes Belle! If you know of more, please tell!

I have no idea whats going on with Paige, which is a shame. I dont know why she doesnt do all of Belle's voicework. :?

Oh, and I forgot to add a brand new Disney Princess -

GISELLE: AMY ADDAMS !! !! :)

oh, sorry!!! I found it!!! Thank you, atlanticaunderthesea!!!

But you said that in the Christmas Album Susan is doing the singing voice for Belle.
But I think that in the Christmas DVD Paige returns for the songs, am I right?

And what about the Tea Party album? Is it Paige, right?

I'm glad you found it!

Yes, on all CDs, Susan Eagan provides the singing voice for Belle, but on the actual DVD's themselves, its Paige O'Hara. And on the DVD soundtrack its Paige. So presumably, Paige does record the songs, but Disney chooses not to use her on the CD releases.

This has been a long on going mystery in the Disney Princess franchise!

This is from the Cinderella Platinum Edition' UD's review:
"Every Girl Can Be a Princess" (2:23), a new song currently making a number of appearances on CDs from Walt Disney Records, "performed by Cinderella" (though it doesn't sound like Ilene Woods, then or now, because it's sung by Susan Egan of Hercules) and uncredited mice. It's sort of a catchy tune, in spite of the generic message.

I think that there is a mistake, because Susan Egan is doing Belle's voice, not Cinderella's.
"Every Girl Can Be a Princess" is sung by Tami Tappan, right?

Yes, that is a mistake, as Tami Tapan does al lthe singing for Cinderella now; but, she does sound an awful lot like Susan Eagan. It is Tami though, on that record.

And I found the lyrics for you bruno_wbt! I must say that 'If You Can Dream' is one of my most favourite songs! I only wish they had used Tami Tapan to sing on behalf of Cinderella. I hate Susi Stephens voice!
Anyway, here are the lyrics:

Thank you so much, atlanticaunderthesea!!!

Yes, it's one of my favorites, too!!! :D
I really love the first verse with Ariel and Jasmine.

I want more songs with the princesses singing together. I hope in the Enchanted Tales there are some... :)

You are welcome! I want there to be more songs of them togther as well! Jodi Benson stated in an interview that they just finished a new Princess stories DVD, so we may get a new song/video with that. Susan Eagan mentioned that she was recording a new Princess CD which was 'Birthday themed', so I'll bet all the Princesses will sing togther on that as well. To my knowledge, here are all the songs that the Princesses have sung togther as a group:

1. If You Can Dream

2. Beauty Of The Season

3. Christmas Is Coming!

4. The Twelve Days Of Christmas

These are all the ones I know of, and If anyone want them, I can send as I have them all! But if ayone has a copy of 'Where Dreams Begin' they could send me, I would be very greatful! :)

- The Princess Dance (Belle, Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora)

I've never heard the full song, so if anyone could upload it, please?

- Jennifer Hale ~ Speaking voice of Cinderella
- Christie Houser ~ Aurora
- Susie Stevens Logan ~ Singing voice of Cinderella
- Paige O´Hara ~ Belle
- Lea Salonga ~ Singing voice of Jasmine
