There is a Vault Disney 3-pack currently available from the Disney Club. It includes Pollyanna, Swiss Family Robinson, and The Parent Trap. All three of those titles are essential for a Disney collection. If you already own some of them maybe you can turn around and resell what you don't want. The set is $44.95.

Actually you can still get an old pack that includes the Vault Disney Old Yeller along with Savage Sam in the Old Yeller Saga pack as well for $29.95.

That reminds me, I think I forgot to include Old Yeller on my list! I want the Vault Disney Edition too! In fact, I need all the Vault Disney titles except for Parent Trap, which I already have. In the double feature releases, they don't include the commentaries! I still want the double features though, when they include a film I can't get on its own, like Parent Trap 2. I really still need most Disney live-action DVDs. I only have certain ones, and some are Anchor Bay, and some of the Anchor Bays have been damaged (Black Hole and Cat From Outer Space, I believe), though they might still work fine on most DVD players. So, anyways, I think Old Yeller 2 disc is out of print now, and probably Escape to Witch Mountain also, so I need those two and their sequels, and probably more.

As for slipcovers, I can understand people wanting them. I can live without them if it is hard to find them, but I really hate to not get them. The point is, if you keep them (and I do because it is part of the package), then the more you have on your shelf, the better it looks. One thing that really ticked me off was when I got Lion King 1 1/2 and Lion King 2 from Amazon.com! One of them, I think it was 1 1/2, didn't come with a slip cover! Since it was a gift, I couldn't send it back. Last time I did that, they just refunded money to the gifter and I ended up losing the gift, ha (that was a 2 disc copy of "Independence Day" that wouldn't play, which I still need now, and I now think the problem was my crappy Samsung player. It doesn't play A LOT of DVDs, but it's better than a Samsung my family used to have. Don't buy Samsung players, but their TVs are good).

I have been collecting DVDs for 6 & 1/2 years, so I bought most of the biggies when they came out... Toy Box, Fantasia box, most of the WD Treasures, the Limited Issues (the movies, not the sequels), all the Collector's editions, and the two-disc sets of all the animated classics that have been released.

There were a couple of Limited Issues I missed out on, but luckily, they were the ones that were re-released in either the gold collection, or as one of the special editions.

There are a few things that I am waiting for a Platinum Edition (or similar) release, but as long as I know that a re-release is planned, I don't care about the OOP versions.

On the WD Treasures, I bought the first 3-4 waves as they came out, and I just recently picked up some of the later ones that I was missing. Right now, the only ones I am missing are the Disney Rarities and the Spin and Marty sets (and the wave that is coming out, of course...)

I don't have a whole lot of Disney stuff in general left on my wishlist. Now non-Disney stuff is another matter!

I have tons of OOP wishlist titles, many of which are getting tons of money on E-Bay (Criterion Hard Boiled, The Killer, This is Spinal Tap, Blood for Dracula, Flesh for Frankenstein, Salo.) There is also a lot of Limited Edition horror that I am looking for, although I probably won't find it.

This is Spinal Tap is out of print? I'm sure I still see that on sale in stores occasionally. I need to pick it up! I haven't even seen that film in its entirety.

I'm also happy to be able to say I always picked up the 2-disc sets when they were out there, like Dinosaur, Emperor's New Groove, Tarzan, A Bug's Life, etc..., and I'm glad I never missed any Disney Treasures (anyone who hasn't gotten "Disney Rarities" really needs too! Luckily, you probably can still find it in stores). I also managed to snag Ultimate Toy Box, The Fantasia Anthology, and the Love Bug Boxed set (not that there was anything extra in that one, but I am a big Herbie fan, so it's cool). I wonder if we'll see a double feature DVD of the original Love Bug with the Bruce Campbell TV sequel eventually. I certainly would like to get that one on DVD so I can toss the VHS and have a full Herbie collection on disc. Well, it'd be nice if they'd release the TV show too, though it didn't look very good from what I remember seeing of it. I'd still want to get it, ha.

Sadly, someone spilled some soda near some of my DVDs a long time ago! So, there are some krinkles in my Fantasia Anthology and Peanuts Holiday Collection boxes (ugh). I also had to replace my DVD of "League of Extraordinary gentlemen." Some actually got on the disc and no amount of cleaning would make it playable after that! Luckily, I DID get to replace it.

Hmm, I've owned all those but have passed most of them on to my family as I upgraded them. Never got those versions of Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Bug's Life, or Scamp's Adventure though, because I had the Ultimate Toy Box, 2-disc Bug's Life, and the first release of Scamp already. Anyways, what's the appeal of the Limited Editions?

This is Spinal Tap is readily available from MGM (I think...) However, it was originally released by The Criterion Collection, and that version is Out of Print. It may have had a commentary track or other extras that aren't on the current disc (I can't remember,) but even if the new version is better in every way, there are hardcore Criterion collectors that look for those to complete their set. It doesn't help that there is a number on the spine... :P

Count me as another one who likes "The Chin" (Bruce Campbell,) and the Love Bug TV movie...

Hmm, I think I'd go with the MGM one, especially since I think I've seen it in the 5 dollar bin before. Though it sucks that there are a couple things it doesn't have, including director's commentary.

Isn't there a sequel out now also?

Incorrect: It goes OOP at the end of January. Put it on your Christmas list or get it with Christmas money or something.

Don't you realize Jungle Book comes out in just under a year? A year goes by very, very fast. If you feel like blowing a bunch of money you will have your chance in December to spend plenty.

Given the fact that Robin Hood has a new widescreen re-release, this could be a sign that Disney may consider widescreen re-releases for their other open-matte animation films (101 Dalmatians, The Sword in the Stone, The Jungle Book, The Aristocats, and possibly The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh). So wanting the old LI's or GC's for them could be justified in the desire to have the film in its fully-animated frame cell, along with the theatrical ratio on a new disc.

Still, I'll simply wait for the new version, after which the old will usually drop in value. And considering the fact that TLM LI's (once the rarest/most popular of authentic OOP Disney DVDs) can now be found for as little as $9.99 or $12.99 in local GameStops, I'm pretty sure the same will occur with the other titles.

I would really love if Disney released all fullscreen movies in widescreen and original aspect ratio. Like Ninja Scroll 10th Anniversary Edition. They would be satisfying both purist and home theater enthusiasts.

I wish they were released in a format similar to Sleeping Beauty's. You had the viewing option of Fullscreen or Widescreen. Even the way Finding Nemo was released was OK. Disc one was Widescreen with the first half of the bonus features, and Disc two was Fullscreen with the second half of bonus features.
