LOL!

I am not complaining or criticizing them. And I am glad so many people are looking forward to them. I just thought it was odd as much of the material has to be out of date. Anyway, I guess I would have to be a completist to understand.

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys them and they release the others you are looking for as well.

James :)

Yes. Biology moves faster than technological advances. The migration of birds changes every two years, and lions' hunting grounds have moved from Africa to the American midwest since the late fifties.

So basically, the "Legacy Collection" is basically a "spin-off" of Walt Disney Treasures?

I'm fine with that, the only problem I have though, is wondering how long the "Treasure" Series can live. :| And to think I've just started to collect them.

Don't worry. I don't think the Treasures series is going anywhere. Mr. Maltin himself has said as long as they keep selling they'll keep making them. Think of the Legacy Series as a "sister" series. I'm just happy to see Roy's sig on them.

I JUST found out about the TLA from a reference in another post and I was about floored - why didn't I hear about this before? Is the posting today on the front page of UD the first ANY of us has heard of this series?

  You should put that one in your siggie!

Yeah they are just old 1950s nature shows, but many of us watched these as kids - its the nostalgia factor. I just informed my husband about the release of this series and I was justifying the purchase of that AND the Treasures by saying these docs are so old that there might even be some animals they filmed back then that are now extinct!

So do we know for sure they are in tins? The picture appears to look like tins but it doesn't really say. I agree, this will be a big hit to the wallet. If they want to delay the Treasures (as Edge predicts) I won't complain. It's a lot of $$ to spend at Xmas.

Wouldn't a lot of the info be outdated not valid anymore? Like watching old national geographic specials.

James :)
The documentary aspect is hardly the most important here.

To me they doesn´t really look as tins (in the way that we have had the Treasures tins at least!). To me it looks like a see-through plastic front (or could it be just dreams and wishes :) )

I think the Treasures series will probably be around for at least another 2 years, after all we are only half way through the Donald shorts, so there'll probably be a 3rd and 4th volume of DD, of course they may release both of them in the same year.

I have to admit with the release of these True Life DVDs and the mention that they are the first in a series, the amount of significant content that be on a Treasures DVD looks like it is decreasing. But only time will tell!

I'm VERY excited about this release, for although I was born a little too late to catch these when they first aired, I have seen a few here and there, and the nostalgia factor is high here.

I do hope this release doesn't delay Wave 6 of the Treasures, a sentiment that has been echoed by many in this thread, but I think the best thing to do would be to put a call out to our man Bill Cotter and see if he can make an appearance here and give us some dates.

Bill? Bill?....

You know what I was thinking, they are either hard plastic cases or they are tins that have been painted a dark green on the front and black on the back. But if they were plastic, that's not too "collectible" to most people - they advertise that it is going to be a collectible case... it its done in tins like the treasures tins, it would be a good compliment to the treasure series, for those who display theirs on a shelf.

Gosh, Walt Disney Legacy Series. This "sister-set" to the treasures might just give the treasures a run for the money! I am excited to see something that was held off the treasures line released with such pomp and valour. Walt's legacy in my book, involves people & places, good neighbour shorts, educational bits and (dare i say it. . .) movies that might not meet with current political standards. It will be fun to see what cranks out in the Legacy series.

I guess you aren't going to get them much sooner from ddd, even if they've got the titles up for order now?
