Aside from the shows in WDW's parks, I haven't seen any Disney on stage (or anything on stage at all). If I get to go to London this summer, all of that will change, starting with Mary Poppins.

Actually Rasulo et al have put a stop to that Broadway nonsense and forced Bamberger and her group to actually develop Disneyland entertainment instead of Broadway entertainment.Wonderlicious wrote:I know that Aladdin has a Broadway style show on at Disneyland's California Adventure (it said that on the DVD) that will inevitabely come to Broadway/West End, and The Little Mermaid is in the works, so the two I'd most like to see get crossed off my list. After that, I'd like to see Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Pocahontas, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan make an incarnation on the stage

All those reasons you've stated is exactly why I've been dying to see it. I have the cast recording and I absolutely love "Shadowlands." I love the added depth some of the new songs give the story!KinOO wrote:Saw the Lion King in the West end, i cried as it was soo beautiful, the stage, the singers, the costumes, the colors.. Gorgeous! I much prefer the stage version of the story than the movie itself, more mature and more deep (Why Nala is running away, the Madness of King Scar is pure genius).
And those costumes look so amazing!

I know. Disney must not want to tarnish their reputation by having their most beloved characters referenced in a cross-dressing Christmas musical.oh_bother wrote:I know that Disney now do not allow pantomime versions of "Snow White" to use the names of the 7 dwarves so they have to think up their own.
Anyway, I know that there was once a Broadway version of Snow White, according to IMDb.

I haven't seen any broadway or professional Disney shows
and it's a shame cause i'm an aspiring actor and i love theatre. A local highschool did Beauty and the Beast recently but it wasn't that great. It was neat to see on stage though. When I was in Disney world i saw most if not all of the stage shows. Id love to see Aladdin, peter Pan, Little Mermaid (i know its in the works and im SO excited
), I hope to see Beauty and the Beast sometime and Hunchback would be really neat!!!
Lion King sounds interesting, but i'm not so sure i'd like it since it's mostly masks and puppets, but what can ya do...it's animals!
We did "Joseph" recently and I fell in love with Andrew Lloyd Webber's version of that! I'd like to see what they do with Mary Poppins on stage in England, I loved that movie!
These are a few that I think are broadway potential:
Snow White, Cinderella (imagine that!!), Sleeping Beauty(pyrotechnics and SFX for Maleficent!)

I work at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre where they are currently running Beauty & The Beast on Broadway in NYC, and I LOVE that show. I also had the fortunate opportunity to see TLK and Aida. They are so incredibly amazing. Especially Aida... Unfortunately, it left Broadway on September 5th, 2004.
From what I hear, next show on Broadway (after Mary Poppins) will be either Tarzan or The Little Mermaid. They're shopping both around the studios right now.

Hmm... I think that could be done very well. I know there was a play and a ballet based on Hans Christian Anderson's original.KinOO wrote:For the info, the next official musical is The Little Mermaid.
The play was most definately not for children and had naked women hanging from wire wrapped in ropes.
I know that sometime, somewhere (Disney World?) "Aladdin" was done on ice.DreamerQ18 wrote:Oh man with out a doubt I would lvoe to see Aladdin on Stage. An amazing colors and special effects. I guess another really cool idea would be Alice in Wonderland also because of all the cool colors that could be used.

Because they make more money on ticket sales. Cats had it's great run. But was lagging behind. They figured put it on DVD, make whatever sales they could. Wait a few more years, they will allow smaller theaters to set it up. In Daytona Beach, the Seaside Music Theater got the rights to put it on. They have done it twice. Haven't seen it there, but I heard it was greatAnd why deas Disney doesn´t release them on dvd as it have been done with Cats??

How and why I mean its not really a musical you know? Seems more like a kid show that could be taken on tour around the country like (Disney on Ice or something )Not Disney but I read somewhere that Shrek was going to Broadway
Disney... Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age. And dreams are Forever
Yeah, I know it's not a musical. But first of all, not all Broadway is musicals. But likely they will make it a musical. Why? To make money and piss off Disney probablyQuote:
