agreed. gone are the days 'stressing' about the gold collection and masterpiece labels...
and plus...it also limits my spending coz i've managed to convince myself only the 2-discers are worth it...
'repeat' i don't need to own every title. i don't need to own every title. 2-discers have everything....

I will buy it, indeed. And I also hope that there is not many kids' stuff and more art galleries. Specially I would love a commentary. It will rock my dvd player.

I really don't like the cover art. What's the "Includes a Virtual Wonderland Party" banner at the bottom about??? I thought this DVD would appeal to collector's, and not be crappy like THE LION KING is... :(

Dacp-I don't know why Disney's promoting the Virtual Wonderland Party so much, but if you've seen the specs list you'd see that the Alice 2-disc is leagues ahead of The Lion King's. So don't worry, there's tons of meaty features for us.

Jasmine-None of us are really that sure what it is. I would say it's like the Virtual Safari on The Lion King DVD, but a safari's one thing; a Wonderland party's another so I have no clue how they're going to approach this. All we know is that The Mad Hatter (yay! ;)) will be hosting it. Now, either this means we're gonna have the Hatter's voice in the background hosting for us, or we're actually going to see a CGI Hatter. We'll have to wait and see.

As I said before, if Disney's spending this much time doing a Virtual Wonderland Party, I really hope they're also spending time doing virtual galleries.

Yeah, I think you're right, DK. They'll probably get some actor to try and sound like Ed Wynn and you'll get to select cups and stuff. To quote Chachi, "wow wow wow."

Corey Burton did the Mad Hatter on House of Mouse, and I thought he did it very well. Much better than his Zazu on the Lion King DVD (I think it's Corey Burton).

Update It's likely to be Edward Hibbert doing Zazu on the DVD - so Corey hasn't let himself down. :)

I guess Disney will stick to their new 'official' voices.

Oh, and I think it's Jim Cummings, not Jeremy Irons hosting the second disc of The Lion King.

Now you're talking about the host¡s voices, do you think is Tony Jay the voice of the Mirror in the Snow White menus?

I didnt know where else to post this so i used this thread. this was also on todays animated-movies.net newspage!

Home On The Range Teaser and Other Gems on Nemo DVD!
'BubbleGum' reveals that "purchasers of Disney/Pixar's latest DVD release, Finding Nemo, will find an extra surprise in store. As well as a pristine widescreen version of the teaser for Brad Bird's The Incredibles, viewers will also be able to see a full two-minute trailer for Disney's last hope for 2D animation, Home On The Range! The fully colored and finished preview plays at the beginning of Disc Two in the set and is accompanied with snippets from Alan Menken's new songs and score. Other previews on the disc include Lion King 1 1/2 [same teaser we've already seen] as well as a single-trailer look at the upcoming Special Editions for Alice In Wonderland, Pocahontas (which announces a "new song from Mel Gibson") and Lilo And Stitch. Nemo hits disc on November 4th, while Range is currently on target for an April 2004 theater release."

So, thats good news about the alice/pocahontas SE's trailer. But im not sure about a new song in pocahontas... not again.....

New songs...ugh. I hope they don't try to incorporate them into the movie.

I guess if Disney do include new songs in the actual movies for Alice and Pocahontas, at least the "original release" will be the proper original release. I can't see Disney spending the money to alter animations throughout the film.

I think they are reffering to "If I Never Knew You". I doubt they will incorporate it into the movie, but maybe I would like that... :D As long as we have the option to watch the REAL original edition, but as we've seen with past releases, that is not very likely to happen. So, no Special Editions, please!!

Putting "If I Never Knew You" back into the film is an EXCELLENT idea. That song is beautiful and the only reason it was cut was because children with short attention spans that were in the audience got bored. The animation for it is basically complete; it just needs to be inked in certain portions.

If they do put the Alice and Pocahontas musical numbers into the film, it should be through branching and pressing "Play" should bring up a "Theatrical" or "Special Edition" cut screen.

You're right, 2099net, at least they won't screw with the films, most likely.

Where's everyone getting the notion that Alice is getting a new song? If Disney were adding a new song to it, I'm 99.9% sure that they would spend more time advertising that than the Virtual Wonderland Party.

On the other hand, I find it highly suspicious that the unused song "I'm Odd' is on disc 1 with the kiddie features instead of the meaty ones on disc 2. What makes Disney believe kids would be interested in this particular song out of the many that were abandoned? Curiouser and curiouser...

"I'm Odd" is apparently a new number performed by Cheshire Cat. I'd expect them to advertise this more than Virtual Wonderland Party, too, but maybe that means I'm Odd won't be integrated into the film.

Will there be a featurette on the TV series, Adventures in Wonderland? That isn't very old, so they could round up some of the actors and have them share "stuff".

Also, Disney had better heavily promote this. Despite all its fans, this film is one of audiences's least favourites, and it may take more than a new song or game to have the average joe re-purchase this.
