Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

NARNIA DVD!! SO AWESOME!!!!
So I just bought my Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe: Speal 2-Disc Collector's Edition from Wal-Mart for the OUTRAGEOUS price of $27.99. But it was okay, because I love this movie.
I'll come back with more for those who won't be buying it right off the bat, but I just wanted to post and say I GOT IT!!!
As far as packaging goes, it comes in a very creative cardboard case that imitates the wardrobe from the movie. The plastic keepcase slides out of the case and the cover of that is just a wardrobe...no title, no logos, just...a wardrobe. Open that up, and you find two very attractive discs, a DVD guide (a rarity in the DVD world), and two sheets of concept art, which are very cool, but what do you do with them?
The DVD guide shows a picture of the coming soon screen and the disc features a trailer for Brother Bear II.
Like I said, I will post again soon.

Great review Luke, as usual.
Good paragraph about the lack of discussing the symbolism in the film. Maybe they will tell more about C.S. Lewis in the future Narnia films. Maybe they were saving for later. It will be difficult to fill 7 DVDs with bonus features without being redundant.
Hey everyone, my wife discovered a great deal for those interested in the 2-Disc Collector's Edition. You can buy it from FYE for $27.99 and mail in a $7 rebate. I know rebates aren't the greatest thing in the world but the price of the DVD set ends up being only $20.99 with this deal.

Stupid Question here for Luke or that anyone has the DVD, After seeing your awesome Review Luke what does the Single Disc Widescreen version contain if nothing i'm interested in i don't see me getting the 2 Disc that was reviewed, also i'm somewhat suprised on that This Movie did better in Theatres then Toy Story but that's me being it one of my favorite Disney released animated classics, yes I consider Toy Story the greatest besides The Lion King and Lady and the Tramp. Mainly since I want to save up money to also buy King Kong, actually i'm a bit overbehind in the DVD's i want/need to get.

Target's price for the 2-disc special edition w/lithograph is $24.99.
They are selling the 1-disc version for $14.99.

I had hoped my review made that clear several times, but the single disc version appears to contain everything on Disc 1 of the two-disc. Different packaging and no cool physical goodies, but the same exact disc.PR Fan wrote:Stupid Question here for Luke or that anyone has the DVD, After seeing your awesome Review Luke what does the Single Disc Widescreen version contain...
Thanks for reading and the kind words of feedback, Michael, and kbehm!

I believe the 2 DISC edition has more bonus features. The 1 DISC regular has for special features: 2 commentaries, bloopers and Narnia Fun Facts.

Of Course it was my fault since i was just skimming and missed a line that said this is all that is covered on The Single Disc Version of the DVD, also must say i have to admit I fell asleep for a bit of this Movie in theatres i think when Edwin got taken in by The White Witch so i'm glad i can see the full film again whenever i can make it to Target or Best Buy.Luke wrote:I had hoped my review made that clear several times, but the single disc version appears to contain everything on Disc 1 of the two-disc. I'm buying the 2-disc Collector's Set today. I can't wait to see it. Even though I have school tomorrow, I'm going to watch it no matter what the time is.

I've only checked out some of the supplements so far and am already very impressed by what I've seen. This just may be my favorite DVD from Disney. The lack of galleries is disappointing, but the lack of trailers and deleted scenes don't bother me for once because a) I have both the teaser and the theatrical trailer on my other Disney DVDs, and b) the deleted scenes will be inserted back into the film, so the extended cut will be more special to me. I don't know what Disney's going to do with that release supplement-wise since this release is practically perfect. All I can see them doing is making it a single disc with a new commentary, galleries, and trailers and TV spots meant as a supplement to the current release rather than a replacement.

Okay, I realize I may be nit-picking, but my 2-disc set packaging states a running time of 135 minutes. The disc running time actually concurs with Luke's review of 143 minutes (142 minutes 50 seconds to be exact). I thought maybe they were stating the running time without the credit roll because that's when most people shut off the DVD (not me) but the credits actually start to roll at 131 minutes. To be fair, it does say Approx. 135 Minutes.

I just finished watching The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I watched some of the Supplemental Features, I can't believe there are so many! This, by FAR the best DVD Disney has released since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Platinum Edition DVD. I will definetly be watching all of the Supplemental Features this weekend. I am very happy with my purchase.

It'd probably surpass Snow White if it had galleries, storyboards, trailers, tv spots, promotional posters, deleted scenes etc.TheSequelofDisney wrote:This, by FAR the best DVD Disney has released since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Platinum Edition DVD..
I've still gotta pick it up, my friend's taking me to Target on Friday (where I'm gonna get Narnia and that Buy 2 get 1 free deal on the Disney DVDs).

I just blind-bought the single-disc version on Tuesday. I read the Narnia books in my younger days, but I never got around to seeing TLTW&TW at the theater this winter. To say the least, I am impressed. Very impressed. I get sucked into the movie every time I put the disc in, so I haven't gotten around to seeing the bonus features yet. Had I known how awesome this movie was going to be, I would've definitely gotten the 2-disc version, although $26 is a bit steep.
