oh good they fixed the cover art but tramp looks kinda weird now hes brown with brown eyes i guess he really was brown in the movie and whats with ladys eyebrow lol it looks a bit thick

oh yay they fixed trusty i was wondering how long we would have to wait before that happened lol

i still think that the cover art is a bit crowded i liked the ones with just lady and tramp on there but i think adding tony and the other guy sorry i dont know his name is a great idea i mean they were there singing to them

but the others werent there so having them there seems kinda weird

Well, the cover certainly looks better now, although it's a bit odd to see Tramp having brown colour, because I'm used to seeing him with grey colour. In any case the extras seem to be quite interesting, and I will definitely add this Platinum Edition to my collection (and thus I finally get Lady and the Tramp on DVD). I just hope it gets a 2-disc release in Finland and not a single disc release like Cinderella PE did.

Overall the covers alot better, but i can't get over Tramp...all the plushes of him are grey? :? How can Disney use two different colours for the same character...weird :?

Well the cover art changes may be only slight, however they make a huge difference, it looks a totally different cover!

Oh my goodness, finally! It annoyed the poo out of me to see Peg look like a puff of hideousness, not to mention Trusty the Druggie :P I really love the new scheme also, with the light focusing much more on Lady and Tramp.

According to the Disney DVD Web-site they are calling Lady and the Tramp a "50th Anniversary Edition" instead of calling it a Platinum. I took some screencaps:

I doubt that this title will stay.

That'd be slightly less lame if next year actually was the film's 50th Anniversary Edition. As it is, it will just confuse collectors and make them worry that the Platinum line has been discontinued. It's so weird. Disney goes out of their way to distinguish the Platinum Editions from other DVDs in the picture/sound remastering and the breadth of bonus features. And then they seem to go out of their way to downplay that it is any different from any other "Special Edition", which could mean anything from Tarzan to Oliver & Company. What's the sense in that? Are they really scared that the Platinum name will confuse someone to the point where they won't buy the DVD?

Disney seem to have odd ideas about when anniversaries fall.

Look at the Disneyland 50th anniversary - it lasts until well into next year!

At any rate, what's in a name anyway? It is not as though the Platinum line have been of a consistent quality, so why should they be of a consistent name? :D

Outside of R1, there hasn't really been any proper "lines" so I've never understood the obsession...

I'm not exactly bothered about this title change, but it does seem a wee bit pointless (especially considering the birthday is a little late) and enforces the point that Disney are suffering from an Anniversary fetish. Oh well.

I think they need to stop making things so confusing. How about The Special 50th Anniversary Collector's Masterpiece Gold Collection Platinum Supercalofragilisticexpialidocious Edition

Wow! Those nice touches made The Lady and the Tramp cover even BETTER! This is arguably the best cover Disney has made!

As for the 50th Anniversary logo, I doubt it's going to replace all of the Platinum logos! I think it'll be used like the way Disney puts the Special Edition title on all the Platinum covers!

Either way, as long as LATT gets a 2-Disc set and brilliant transfer, I couldn't care less about what they call it!

It's odd if Disney isn't going to call the release a Platinum Edition and instead uses that anniversary stuff, but I don't mind that as long as the transfer is good and we get lots of nice extras.

On the website it states Cinderella as "Special Edition" but it still had PLATINUM EDITION labeled on the cover. Maybe it'll be the same for LATT.

I'd like Disney to keep consistant with their DVDs.

And once Lady and The Tramp is released, perhaps promotion for Mermaid will start.

Isn't 2005 the 50th anniversary year? o.O Why call it a 50th anniversary edition when it's out during the 51st anniversary year?

I don't get that either because the film was released on June 16, 1955. Maybe, the will drop that realizing the film will be 51 years old.
Wants Muppet Babies on DVD!!
Hopefully if Duckales and Rescue Rangers sell well we will get it!! Don't forget Gummi Bears!

Well, June 16th happens to be my Birthday. So they really should have called it Joe's Birthday Edition! Me likey. :excellent:

Disney knows that it will be 51 years old, they're not stupid.

The simple fact of the matter is that 99% of the population will have no idea (and more to the fact won't care) what year the film was made, and having a DVD plastered with "50th" makes the DVD release more "special".
