So I just run over the skinny yellow things and I'm home free? Sweet. Bought the first BioShock at Best Buy today. Four dollar cheaper! Paid $20 for a new copy at BB while Gamestop wanted $24 for a USED copy.

Downloaded flOw off the Playstation Store (the full game was offered for free on 2-13).
Pretty cool relaxing title. Nice to just pickup and play...
Also tried the Heavy Rain demo. It was ok, but not something I'll pickup on release day. Its not a game for everyone, although I'm sure a lot of people will love it.
Also be careful if you download the Heavy Rain demo. It has a nasty crash after you finish with one of the scenes. It happens at random, but there are enough posts on forums about it that I think its the demo and not people's PS3s. Anyway when it crashes the screen goes completely black, and a static sound comes from the speakers. The only way to get out of the crash is reset the PS3 (power button on front of console). The sound is extremely loud. It had to be about 3 times louder than the volume level of the game. I'm not sure if it will harm speakers or not, but it scared me pretty good by how loud the sound was... Just a heads up if you try the demo. It may or may not do this when you play it. It did it on my first play though, but I've read where people played though it a few times without any issues.

Well, I thought the Heavy Rain demo was laughable frankly. Its a shame, because I do respect that they are creating an "adult" story, and to a certain degree I respect their graphics (but really, most of the characters don't look human - that damn uncanny valley again, and I question the need to even try to do so. Mass Effect is seems to be the optimum to me - realistic, but not attempting to be totally realistic).
But the interface is atrocious. It's nothing by QTEs for actions and stumbling when walking. None of the actions you perform on the right stick or buttons feel like performing the actions in real-life, so why bother? Some of the SixAxiS movements are OK, but again, they don't really replicate real-life. Why frantically shake your controller with both hands above you lap when you're supposed to be shaking an inhaler?
Sady, it all seems like a gimmick when simple controls and normal dialogue selection trees would most likely not only make playing the game easier but enable the story to be told in a clearer and more satisfying manner too.

I bought an X-Box 360 yesterday and with it, I bought two games: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Dead Rising(Both of which were $20).
I played Dead Rising first. It's pretty interesting so far, but it's also kind of hard as I keep getting eaten by zombies and I do not know how to get them to stop.
Then, I played Force Unleashed, which is also pretty fun, but I am stuck at the moment.

Got in a bit of Uncharted and Brutal Legend yesterday. FINALLY got past the gates of Ormagoden. Normally, I'm pretty quick when it comes to figuring out what to do next in a video game, but this time I guess I had a brain fart or something. Also encounted the guardian of metal. Funny stuff.

LOL! Actually, I named myself Aqua BEFORE her name (and character) was revealed in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Plus, I'm a dudeajmrowland wrote:^Aas your username indicates! I'm waiting for the US release, as I prefer the English Track.
I'm stuck trying to beat Terra on Critical Mode in KH2 Final Mix. That fight is 5 minutes of tense!
But yeah, I have the JPN version of BBS and while the voice cast is perfect, I'm afraid the Disney characters are not. The game is very emotional and stuff and it sucks that US has to wait till Summer. Worse that if the game does well in NA, expect a Final Mix release too!

I bought and started X Blades last night. Pretty good so far. I also put a reseve down on the Dragon Age: Origins expansion pack. So far, March is proving to be tough on my wallet, and February isn't even over yet.

Lots of stuff:
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories PS2 I'm playing this on my S/W BC PS3.
What can I say? This isn't so much a leap forwards, but a huge leap sideways. Absolutely everything apart from the basics has been changed from the original Silent Hill story. The concept, narrative and play style have been totally redone, to stunning effect. So far, I reckon I'm about 20% into the game, and each and every moment offers new surprises. Not just new twists to old concepts, but totally new ideas. This game is just bursting with creativity. I also find the gameplay to be very intuitive. The non-combat decision got a lot of flack before the game was released (and still does) but I think its a bold, brave and correct decision. Now the fleeing has got harder, I'm finding the chases increasingly nail-biting and yes, they can be frustrating and can be repetitive, but the same could be said about all the combat in every silent hill game to date. The chase mechanic certainly seems more involving than simply bashing creatures over the head repeatedly which is (sadly) what the series devolved into.
Also the use of the mobile phone is pure genius. It's interesting, but in the decade since Silent Hill first came out, not only has videogame console technology leapt forwards in leaps and bounds (would anyone who played the first game in such awe and terror ever imagine the tricks pulled off in this version?) but so has technology in the real-world.
All in all, its a wonderful, involving and surprising experience and that's playing on the twin-stick PS3. I can only imagine the experience will be much more effective on the Wii because this is one of the few cases I can actually see merit in motion controls, and the increased graphical power of the Wii will also be able to do much more effective lighting.
If I had one mistake, it would probably be that I feel the movies decision to make Cheryl's "parent" female was correct. The narrative is stronger when its a mother seeking to protect a child, and I would have liked this re-imagining to have done that. But then, I see there's reasonably strong sexual undercurrents to the narrative which suit a man better.
Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Featuring Banjo-Kazooie Xbox360
Incredible. This game more than any other makes me wonder what game players today actually want out of their games.
Here we have a game polished to the Nth degree, but all people can do is complain its a copy of Mario Kart. So what? Recent Mario Karts are copies of Mario Kart (and if we're going to be picky the original Super Mario Kart owes a lot to Sega's own Powerdrift). Regardless of similarities to the SMK series, this game shines. Like Sega All-Star Tennis, you can tell this game has been made with pure love for Sega and the Sega franchises involved. I'm still playing this game with a huge grin from ear-to-ear and apart from perhaps a little too much sonic and his pals, I can't think of anything to criticise this game for - I even feel the difficulty levels which some have complained about are right.
So in summary, we have fun, charismatic characters, superbly hummable music, bright imaginative graphics and people complain? I guess everyone just wants to go back to brown and grey and shooting people. For me, I'd much rather have the famous "Sega Blue Skies" in my games.
As a huge, huge, huge Dreamcast fan, I'm crying golden tears of retro joy every time I unlock a new musical track.
Dragon Age: Origins PS3
Still slowly working my way through this game. I'm finding it harder and harder now, mainly due to the scarcity of injury kits. Managed to gain another two trophies this morning and I think I can call the landsmeet now, but I want to finish off a few sub-quests before I even try. I really feel I need to gain a few experience levels before taking on another major quest arc. Also noticed that the PS3 version at least got a on-line update recently which appears to have solved some of the frame-rate issues (or is that just my imagination?) Looking forward to finishing that, because then I can start Mass Effect 2 on the Xbox 360.
