Apparently Peter Pan is coming in 2018.
there's already a link for that one.

Also, I guess Sleeping Beauty isn't getting a signature release, since it's not listed among the coming soon movies, or am I over reading it.

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection
It's weird that they are coming out with promos already but at least we have an idea on the schedule now. I think all the princess films (besides Snow White and Beauty and the Beast) are being kept out of the Signature line since Cinderella, The Little Mermaid Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and Aladdin have not been vaulted yet.
I hope Peter Pan gets the proper color scheme this time although that's unlikely.

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection
I just realized the source is not a reliable one so there is a good chance this guy is just preparing for inevitable releases, not just releases that are immediately coming soon.
I LOVE Peter Pan, but the Digital Copy edition Blu ray I already have is perfectly fine and the cover is GORGEOUS! Easily the best one Disney has done in their Diamond line up.
I HATE the Lion King so I'm defiantly skipping that.
Though honestly, I was hoping for Fantasia. Since that one's on Netflix right now I'd figure they'd want to get that out of the way.

Yea I hope Peter Pan gets a proper restoration with no missing details as well.
I thought Cinderella was, or will soon be, vaulted though.

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection
I love the Peter Pan digital copy edition cover with his shadow on Big Ben. I'm not as much of a fan of the regular blu-ray cover because of how Michael's outfit is recolored to blue rather than pink. Almost as if they're afraid that boys won't buy the film if they see a boy wearing pink on the cover.
They tend to only release Fantasia on 00 years so like 1990, 2000, 2010. That might change this time around.
I've heard that Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and Jungle Book have all been vaulted. Disney hasn't been very clear but I think that's the case. Still hoping Cinderella gets a proper restoration especially since Disney has at least acknowledged that the current restoration is flawed. But after their treatment of Beauty and the Beast, I wouldn't expect much either

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection
I feel like Cinderella will be restored right because it was brought to Don Hahn's attention specifically and I don't know if Beauty and the Beast is the same case. I believe the colors of Beauty and the Beast were brought to the filmaker's attentions but they came out and said they wanted the colors to be as bright as they planned, not on how they turned out in the original theatrical version. The only thing truly wrong with it is the wrong shot of the enchanted objects at the end of "Something There". Cinderella, on the other hand, I believe they now have the attention to go ahead and say, "Let's do this thing over - and pay attention to make it all right this time."

Let's make sure they DO do it right next time. The second they announce it, comment on Facebook, write letters, call in, every bit counts.

When they announce for Cinderella to come, I bet the restoration will already be done. I think it would be being redone soon, but really I'm not sure when they would start it.

The only movie that has been completely vaulted is Sleeping Beauty, it's no longer on Itunes so It's gone.
TLM, Jungle Book and Cinderella are still there so they aren't vaulted yet.

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection
That trailer was freaking awesome! I can't believe they were able to cut out the animation from the frames and put them in new moving white backgrounds like that! I didn't care for the music and I didn't get how they didn't show the Blue Fairy in it or have her voice saying "Prove yourself brave, truthful, and unselfish, and someday you will be a real boy", and instead they just had the words being spelled out. But it was really cool and pretty great!

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection
Wish bluray.com wouldn't simply link to the old review for the video and audio scores. I appreciate that the technical presentation on this 2017 release is identical to that from 2009, but cannot they re-review it now that the blu-ray format has matured and what may have been flawless in 2009 may not be quite that today?
I, for one, am not quite happy with Pinocchio's presentation on blu-ray.
I feel that I must point out that Luke's reviews are always new and fresh, even if there are already three or four other reviews of previous editions of the same film on the site. I think he deserves a tip of the hat.

I agree, I'm glad that Luke does this. It's extremely helpful.Jules wrote:I feel that I must point out that Luke's reviews are always new and fresh, even if there are already three or four other reviews of previous editions of the same film on the site. I think he deserves a tip of the hat.

Relax, I won't be bombarding the forum with endless campaigns arguing that the candlelight on the pre-Big Bang Pinocchio laserdisc looked more real than on the blu-ray, or otherwise attempt a witch-hunt and eventual execution of all those involved in the film's restoration ...The_Iceflash wrote:Jules wrote:I, for one, am not quite happy with Pinocchio's presentation on blu-ray.
In a dark and dank torture chamber, a hooded male figure with a large letter "M" emblazoned on his chest cackles with laughter as he uses a mechanism to perform the strappado on an unfortunate victim, who so happens to be ex-Lowry employee Greg Jones.
Greg Jones: "No! Please no! My sole function at Lowry was to clean the staff toilets! That and I may have drawn a few naughty doodles on the wall while idling! Please don't kill me ... God no!!!!"
Torturer: "Liar. Your forehead betrays you! There, beneath the glistening sweat I see a shining red cross that all but tells me that you were definitely not employed as a caretaker at Lowry. You were instrumental in destroying Walt Disney's Pinocchio for its home video release. I shall torture you until you admit your wrongdoing."
The torturer gives the rope another tug. Mr Jones wails in pain.
Greg Jones: "OK OK I wasn't the caretaker. They only gave me the lowly task of cleaning the 35mm film scanner after it became too grungy. Spare me!!!!"
Torturer: "Bullshit! You had a far more prominent role than that. Your constant lies lead me to summon now the demons of the underworld to take control of your earthly body and to wriggle the truth out of you! And I can do that because I am Marky - newly-appointed Lord of Cinematographic Darkness, bringer of the curse of vinegar syndrome and spontaneous combustion to volatile and priceless nitrate films. Now that my heart has been hardened by fools like you who spoil perfectly good movies with their box of crayons, there is no other way."
Greg Jones: "No! Your grace! Your highness! Your mercifulness! Your ... your most undeniable godliness! I beg you not to summon the powers of darkness! I repent ... boy do I repent. *sobs* I-, I was the head of the restoration team responsible for the film and yes, I personally supervised the rotoscoping and digital repainting of all the animated characters in every single frame of the film. *bawling* There I said it, please let me go home now!!"
Marky: "Oh, your nightmare has only just begun, Greg."
---End of Episode 35 from Season 4 of "I Do So Understand!"---
Announcer: "Join us next week folks if you wanna know whether Greg gets out of this stew or if Marky has him tossed in batter and breadcrumbs, and finally lowered into a cauldron of boiling oil! Won't that be nice?"
I'm not saying the film looks disastrous. The colours and contrast are lovely. However, I remain baffled by the general softness of the imagery (probable culprit: DNR) and the strange flickering and macroblocking you see within the characters, especially where there should be solid colour. No, I'm pretty sure it's not paint crawl (it doesn't look like paint crawl and they usually photoshop that stuff out anyway!) The Snow White blu-ray also suffered from this problem, and there it was even more egregious.
Ironically, I don't recall the DVD-era Lowry restorations having these problems.
Oh, and Divinity - while reading your comment I mistook you for Disney Duster.

It's okay. That post read like something Escapay would've posted. Hilarious, btw.

I am honoured to have my primitive scribblings (or is it tappings, as I am using a keyboard?) even faintly associated with Escapay's work. Thank you!

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection
Welp after what seems like decades: Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, and The Jungle Book are Finally Vaulted for good.
Cinderella has been out of there for almost 5 years, I'm surprised they bothered Vaulting it at all. Unless we won't see it again in a REALLY long time I can't imagine it making a lot of money after this. It's so saturated in the market now!
Again, why can't Disney just bail on Vaulting these movies?

Re: The Walt Disney Signature Collection
Because Disney US isn't as smart as their European branch. Vaulting Cinderella & Little Mermaid mean nothing as one can simply import a European edition if they want them on Blu-Ray as the European editions are region free. Jungle Book is trickier as that one is locked to regions B & C, but even then some people may find a way around it. On DVD all one needs is a region free player, so Disney vaulting stuff here in the long run means nothing if one is willing to pay a little bit more for European versions.pikachufan1336 wrote:Welp after what seems like decades: Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, and The Jungle Book are Finally Vaulted for good.

Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.
