There's nothing wrong with posting rumours. Disneyprincess11 posted the source (tumblr) so we can judge for ourselves how reliable the source is. No need for the attitude. If we weren't allowed to post anything other than confirmed information this might as well just be a news site with a comment section.

I didn't mean it like that. Of course, it's OK to post rumors. I just meant we should be careful not to take every little rumor at face value. I should have phrased my response differently.

I love HTTYD but Hiccup's baby Christian Slater voice is one of the(very few) worst things about the film. (The other is that stupid "You the viking!" line, uuuughhhh...)

Yeah, I wouldn't want the guy who plays Hiccup here. I mean, I liked him as that character, but I wouldn't necessarily he has a great voice. I definitely wouldn't want him to appear often as a voice actor.

I think they are trying to outdo themselves after Frozen's success. I mean these recent years they have been on a roll and are trying to be getter better with each movie.

I don't think so because this is just a property that is obscure and could be written as an alternate universe.

I see adapting a comic book as no different than them making an adaptation of a Victor Hugo book or Greek mythology or a book inspired by Sherlock Holmes. I also think there's a reason they chose this source material and not, say, the Incredible Hulk or Iron Man or one of the other heavies.

Exactly, I don't see a problem here at all. None of these characters or comics are established in pop culture and 90% of audiences will see this as an original story, having no clue of the source material. If this was Spider-Man or the X-Men, I would totally agree that it wouldn't work for Disney's animated canon, but if you said Big Hero 6 on the street today, all you would get is a general "What?"

Of the more than fifty Disney animated features, how many are original stories and how many are adaptations? The day Disney run out of ideas is the day they should give up and close their doors for good.

I have to agree with estefan, I'm looking forward to this film. I was against the idea of Disney adapting a Marvel comic initially but I think this one is obscure enough that Disney will have freedom to make the type of changes they do in all of their adaptations.

I agree.

The thing is, as a big, almost lifelong fan of both Disney and Marvel, I would be very critical of Disney making a movie for a big-name character, or even a cult character or series I'm fond of, like Moon Knight or the Runaways. But I don't know anything about Big Hero 6, nor do pretty much any comic fan that I know, which gives Disney a chance to take a potentially exciting twist to this series. And as stated before, Disney doesn't often make their own stories, so adapting from a comic book isn't all that different for them.

And I could care less whether they make original movies or "princess" films (which happen to be the majority of their best films, btw). I expect BH6 to be as good as Wreck-It Ralph was, but not quite as good as Frozen.

I just find it funny because I remember how a year ago everybody was complaining about Wreck It Ralph, because it was too different from the typical Disney material (talking animals, fairytales, musicals...) that it was gonna bomb, and that videogames shouldn't appear in a Disney movie.

It seems that everything that suggests a "modern" environment is a recipe for a catastrophe in a Disney movie according to some people. The uptenth Disney film based in medieval Europe? Okey-dokie. A film set in modern day New York with videogames and superheroes? GOD SAVE US ALL.

^Well, I personally think New York is WAY too overused in cinema in general. (As in, Manhattan and none of the outer-boroughs.) I'd say San Francisco is overhyped too, but at least Big Hero 6 is making it different with the emphasis on Tokyo.

But other than that, yeah, original tales in modern settings are always welcome. I'd dare say that a fairy-tale done in one could be very successful, as long as they don't get obnoxious with the pop culture.
