I've been reading predictions on box office mojo and the consensus all around is they all expect Tangled to climb to the number 1 spot. If it does pull in the $25 million predicted it will have reached $100 million in less than two weeks. I guess we'll just have to wait and see though, but exciting buzz nonetheless :)

Here in Holland they (almost) never translate the end credits songs. Sometimes they do, but they often just keep the same song that is played during the English version.

I am actually surprised they decided to re-record it with Dutch singers! :!:

And Fairytales, I am really happy you can finally enjoy this movie. Veel plezier en geniet ervan!

I actually convinced three of my friend to see Rapunzel (in English) with me today. I really wanted to see it again! :)

I went to see RAPUNZEL 3D (as it is indeed called in Holland) yesterday and wow what a great movie. I didn't know whether to hate or feel sorry for Mother Grothel. She made a mistake by kidnapping her, but she was very sweet to Rapunzel all those years, but she went a little crazy sometimes.

Flynn wasn't as annoying as I feared he'd be, he's actually kinda okay.

My favorite thing was totally Maximus, he was awesome.

Effects were nice, especially the lanterns.

I really enjoyed it and badly want to see it again. I'm going to Disneyland Paris on Monday for a week, so hopefully I'll be able to see it again there.

I think that the fact that they did not smooth it some or give it better style made her look unpolished after being reunited.
Well, it suits Rapunzel (a more "wild" look) and Flynn was DIEING. He cut her hair with a broken mirror piece and almost blindly cut her hair. I don't think the first thing Flynn said when he was healed was-

"WHY does your hair look all jagged? I swore I tried to cut it straight and even! Look. Lets try this again. I'll fix up your hair again. You want to look good when we go back to the kingdom, OK? Don't move..."
:P
Uh, I didn't mean that Flynn/Eugene would then style it. Of course not! Didn't even cross my mind.

Neither did I think that her hair would be styled before the reunion, but rather after the reunion when she is presented to the kingdom surely she would have been pampered and polished and her hair would not be sticking up wild all over the place. She would have looked lovely if it looked like it was even just combed. Her hair looks flyaway, not just jagged.

And Rapunzel is not wild. Fun, curious, joyful, cute, and even a little strange, unsure, and energetic, but she doesn't have "wild" going for her. Or at least that is how I see her. You might see otherwise. But her whole life has been in captivity and this would not make her a wild person. She was no more wild than Ariel or Jasmine.

dollover wrote:I have to agree with this one....

How was Mother Gothel was able to beat up two huge thugs- I argued that they were so intent on going after Rapunzel that they didn't notice her sneaking up behind them; all she had to do was hit one from behind then hit the other one before he realized what was going on.

I really thought she planned with the brothers to make it look like she beat them up but really didn't. However, it seems like she did betray them and must have beat them up. So confusing!

dollover wrote:Anyways those points really didn't bother me either. The songs were mostly fine, I don't think they're necessarily inferior to the songs in the previous classics. I never thought the songs in Aladdin or Lion King were particularly great or memorable, and I don't think I left B&tB with the songs stuck in my head either. I think some people tend to elevate the greatness of songs in previous classics partly from nostalgia, and I think it would be an interesting experiment to have someone who's never heard any Disney songs before rank them all after listening to them for the first time.
I actually clearly remember my first reactions to Disney movies that moved me. Mermaid and Aladdin both stood out as amazing pieces of art and music. Everything stuck with me and all of the songs were in my opinion excellent. I was impressed, enthralled, captivated...you name it. And I was not a little kid either.

For other movies, I was not always as completely captivated by all the music but I usually loved a few selections right away and then I grew to love some of the other pieces later.

Rapunzel's songs didn't impress me like Mermaid and Aladdin. They didn't have an immediate impact and nothing really stood out to me either. But I think I will grow to love some of them. Nostalgia might elevate your love for a piece of music, but first impressions can be either great or luke warm, and for me Tangled's music was just luke warm.

However the imagery of Tangled gave me chills during some scenes and the movie was fun and uplifting with just enough darkness too. So I would call the whole package a success even if the music didn't have a perfect first impression.

Wow, 3 times?! I haven't even seen it yet! My friend and I are supposed to go NEXT Saturday, and I am looking forward to it.

Is the movie playing in 3D and "standard" or whatever non-3D is called? Is it worth the extra money to see it in 3D?

Going for the fourth time on Monday, and the 3D version is worth the money especially for the lanterns scene!

I'd say, see it in 3D at least once. Not only is the lantern scene worth the price of admission alone, there are some great shots of the forest that took my breath away. Most noticeably When Will My Life Begin (reprise).

I wanna see it again!!
i was shocked i was one of EIGHT people that came to see the film. The whole room was empty.
It has had NO marketing here... that really sucks, but anyway.
I loveddd it! i do not remember alot because i was too stunned and happy finally seeing it.

Some things i loved: <small spoilers>

-Those golden swirls during Flynns healing
-How the king cried.. it added emotion.
-How Flynn somehow was totally different(better!) than how i thought he would be, but he was amazing nevertheless.
-The kingdom dance scene, though i had already seen that
-The moodswings Rapunzel goes through when she leaves the tower.
-Flynn's freaking out, when he gets healed. LOL.
"i'mnotfreakingouti'mjustinterestedinthemagicthatpossessesyourhairuhmhowlonghasitbeendoingthat?!)

My sister and her friend came along. They loved Maximus and Pascal alot. They didn't like the songs though. I loved them and ofcourse already knew them and sang along under my breath.
Overall it was amazing, cute and stunning and i am going to see it again this Christmas!
:D
(though i do feel a bit empty now. Flynn says: You get to go find a new dream, that's the good part.
But WHAT dream? :? )

Just came back from seeing Harry Potter 7. It was fine, but far from Tangled IMO. Probably about 5/10 is my rating. My friend was bawling by the end of it (not about her favorite character dieing, but the fact that she has to wait months for the new movie. She's a huge HP fangirl.) I want Tangled to outgross HP, but I don't want it to completely fail so that Tangled comes out on top like some people seem to want. It is a decent movie...
