As it seems Los Angeles is having a 'treasures drought'.... I was wondering if anyone has actually purchased their treasures from Disneyland resort itself ?? I have been able to pick up some of the older treasures at California Adventure previously, so it will be interesting to know if the new stock is in... I have a friend staying at the resort at the moment.

Maybe that's where most of the Disneyland tins are, right at Disneyland itself!

DVD Junkie that is AMAZING that your local store had 50 copies. It's probably the only BestBuy in the country with 50 copies! My local store had only one of each. Unfortunately I had already ordered on Amazon.

Pluto Region1 I can understand your frustration if you like your tins to be in mint condition. I have bought some of my tins via Amazon and other times from stores like BestBuy and Sams Club and almost every tin I have has some dent and imperfection. So, I have resolved myself to realizing that it's not the box but the content that matters. I love the Disney Treasures and if I had to sell off a large part of my DVD library the Treasures are one thing that would stay no matter what!

Huzzah, Amazon dispatched mine today. Sadly, I live in the UK so it'll be another few years before they actually arrive.

I know, I just ordered it via Amazon (I used the links here so UD will get something), but now I have this big pit in my stomach because I know the tin will be DENTED and I keep thinking I won't be able to live with the dents... My only other option was to hope the studio store or imagineering store gets in some more and my husband can somehow get there in time but the possibility of success seemed remote... now I'm on pins and needles about the condition of this tin on arrival. I know it sounds silly, but this is the one thing I collect every year and I have an almost dentless collection. The one Pluto I have is dented, thanks to Amazon. So I don't have much faith in them, but I guess it is better to have it in a dented tin than to not have it at all. On the other hand, it was only earlier this year when the entire series was in jeopardy (being discontinued by Disney). I guess we are lucky to get ANY tins.
I just got my three volumes from Amazon today and guess what? Not a single one was dented or marred in any way! So it might be possible you could get a mint copy. Keep your fingers crossed.

Yesterday stopped in BestBuy. They only had Oswald. The others were sold out. Didn't get it because I wouldn't get the good $20 price with only one set.

Went to Wal-Mart. Nothing.

Went to Sam's Club. All of them. About 6 Disneyland, 5 Donald, 10 Oswald. Didn't get them. Pay day is tomorrow along with year end profit sharing and Christmas bonus. Will definatley get them tomorrow. Can't wait to see those Donald shorts that look so good on a 1080i up converted dvd player through HDMI to a 1080p LCD. Will be awesome.
To all who come to this happy place, Welcome...Disneyland is your land...

Gregbert wrote:Pluto Region 1 here some advice:

Next time you go to Best Buy to look for a tin, ask a blue shirt to look up in their system to see if any of the stores around the area had the Disneyland tin? Our product system is linked store to store. That would have saved gas money.

You can also do this yourself on the Best Buy web site:

Go to www.bestbuy.com

Look up disneyland treasure in there search engine.
When you find it, click on it.
Click on Store Pickup: Available at most stores Select preferred store availability
It asks for your zip code or city.

It then tells you the stores it is available at. It also gives there phone number so you can call them and try to reserve your copy or see how many they have in stock.

Hopefully this will help someone in the future when the next wave comes out.

Take care,
Greg
Oh, thanks for the advice. I had no idea I could look up their various store stocks on my home computer! That is pretty good info to have for the next time. Now when I was at the first Best Buy (Los Feliz) I did ask them to look up on their computer system and tell me which stores had them. I stood there over her shoulder and the computer showed that Porter Ranch store has 6 of each. But when I arrived at Porter Ranch, 40 minutes later, they did not have any. I asked the blue shirt kid about this discrepancy, and he said the system doesn't get updated and was unreliable. I don't know. I think next time, I will watch for Luke's review and when I find out there are only 50K of them, I will just order it on Amazon. The saving grace to all of this was that my husband has reluctantly agreed to go by himself to the Studio store and buy me a copy, if they turn out to get any more in on Monday or Tuesday (he NEVER offers to pick anything up for me - he always makes me be present, and I can't take any more time off from work to go chase around looking for tins). Then at least after the Amazon tin arrives, if it is a complete disaster, I can send it back. BTW I just got an email that the tin from Amazon has shipped.

I picked up two of the three yesterday at Best Buy with the 2 for forty deal. Got Donald 3 and Disneyland. I'll get Oswald later, as I don't have enough cash right now. Actually, I need Oswald AND the 4th Legacy Collection set.

I have only watched disc one of the Disneyland DVD so far. Really liked it, I wish they had more footage of extinct attractions in the big documentary. I usually go to the Florida park and have only been to the California one once, back in like 1980 or something. I have vague memories of stuff like America Sings and the Innerspace attractions, and other extinct attractions like that. They were talked about, but I would have liked to hear about some of the others and maybe seen a bit more on America Sings. I know they had a lot to cover, but I could have done without the many visuals that looked like they were from Vacation planning videos, so maybe more time could have been made by cutting a bit of that and other stuff. Overall though, I'm pleased with it so far. Reading what is on the Donald set, I didn't expect them to be there after reading online, but I'm still disappointed that there's no Your Host, Donald Duck or This is Your Life, Donald Duck. Hope they will be on set 4.

I was a bit disappointed though to find a dent in the lower left corner of my Disneyland tin when I got it home that was not easily noticeable in the store under the plastic. Some of the silver color was rubbed off there too. Didn't know that was just painted on. I unfortunately was in a rush when I bought them. Wish I had taken a harder look. I was paying more attention to the surface and top corners than the bottom.

Two of my three sets had damages *inside* the tin. One is a certificate of authenticity that is pushed in (best way I can describe it, it's a small injury), the other is the same injury to the postcard of the Oswald set. Anyone else have this problem? I've never had it with any of the other Treasures in the past.

We interrupt this thread to bring this important announcement: the Donald 3 DVD review is now up and running: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/donaldvol3.html. And compared to the video quality of the cartoon sets in the last two waves (Donald 2 and Rarities in Wave 5 and even Pluto 2 and Symphonies 2 in Wave 6), the video quality here looks like it's back with a vengeance!

We now return to the regularly-scheduled thread already in progress.

The top edge of the booklet in my Disneland set was scuffed up a bit. My Donald is fine, but with the Disneyland set I definitely had some bad luck. I can live with it though.

I thought about that too - but I couldn't find a phone number for the Disneyana store on the Resort website so i just gave up on it, plus, its a 30-mile drive and I'm blocked out for the rest of the year.

Good news: I just got an email yesterday that Amazon shipped the tin - we'll see what condition it arrives in this time.

Oh boy, now i feel really stupid - well in some ways not my fault - I've had an email snafoo with my husband changing my email program back and forth this week - I got an email from "the Walt Disney Treasures Official Website." Did anyone get such an email? Well it appears it is a link to DisneyShopping.com (which I swear we checked at the beginning of this week when we were frantically trying to locate the DL tin - but I remember they said we could not order it) and guess what, you can order the DL tin right from there! i could just kick myself. What a dummy I've been all week with this. Oh gosh. Spent all the money in gas, took time off work, and finally ordered what surely will be a dinged up and damaged tin from Amazon. I feel like such an idiot.

here's the link:

<a href "http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp/wcs ... Disneyland Tin at DisneyShopping.com</a>

Of course I have no idea what their shipping will be like, the expense or if it will arrive damaged, but I definitely would have taken the chance and ordered it from them vs. Amazon.

Thanks again Gregbert on the how-to to deal with Best Buy the next time (altho now I am thinking I might as well order the tins via DisneyShopping.com).

I'm surprised you have had such bad luck with Amazon in the past. Being here in Australia, I obviously have needed to import the bulk of the Treasures from Amazon, except when I have been at Disneyland.

I have never had a problem in all the waves of Treasures with dings or dents from Amazon. Now that I have said that, it will probably be a different story this year  If they can fly 12 hours across the Pacific (and deal with the mail systems of two countries) without being dented, I'd say the chances are fairly low you will get dented tins again...???.... I'd be interested to hear of their condition, when you receive them this year.

Having seen the reviews for Donald and Disneyland thus far, I can safely say that the video quality that the line is famous for is back with a vengeance, after the mediocre quality of the last two waves (Donald 2, Rarities, Pluto 2 and Symphonies 2 come to particular mind).

Yeah, well I was actually thinking of asking anyone in this thread if they receive tins from Amazon, to please post what condition it was in (like a poll), but a lot of the people here could care less about the condition of the tins and probably won't do that. I also feel a little embarrassed about crying so much over the situation with the tins, since many of you don't have any choice but to order through Amazon. I mean if Amazon is your only choice you can only take it or leave it, and here I am making a big stink about not finding them at Best Buy - I've got choices and that's better than what our friends overseas may have.

In any case, I'm now a sorrier but wiser tin shopper. If that tin arrives from Amazon badly dented, back it goes and I will pay even more money to get it from DisneyShopping.com. As much as I would like to personally pick out an undamaged tin at a brick and mortar store, I just don't think I am up to trusting Best Buy's merchandise tracking system again. It was totally wrong! Porter Ranch was supposed to have 6 Disneyland tins and they had none when I got there 40 mins later. The kids that work at those places, they don't even care - you gotta pull teeth to get any help there. Anyway, the tins are the only thing I am truly passionate about and you know that is the only way I'm going to finally be happy is if I get an undamaged one. I still regret having kept the dented Pluto tin from Amazon that one year.
