Well for some time zones, there is still time to pick up Bambi before it heads back in the vault tomorrow . Haha, sorry, couldn't resist a Bambi-related post, haven't made one in quite some time.

Now, by going back in the vault does it mean that theyre gonna leave whatever copies are out until they are bought and not distribute anymore, or does it mean theyre going to recall all copies and slam them shut?

They won't recall it, they'll just stop producing it. Once the stores ell out of copies, they won't get any more in.

You'll probably be able to find Bambi, as well as Lady and the Tramp and Lady and the Tramp II, in stores for about another year or so. Bambi II has been in the vault since April and you can still find it pretty much anywhere.

does anybody have a clue when the movies mulan 2-disk, pochahantus 2-disk, cinderella PE, toy story 10 anniversery and toy story 2 2-disk are going into the vault. these are the last movies i need before peter pan comes out and want to get them before they go into the vault. thank-you

Ok, so I searched but couldn't find anything on this topic yet... (if there is something already, give me a break.. I'm new! )
Does anyone know if Disney will be putting their Blu-Ray movies into the vault the same way they do with their regular movies?

I won't be picking up a Blu-Ray player this year, but if the movies aren't going to be around I might consider picking them up now so I don't have to Ebay them later!

Thoughts?

While I dont know the answer for sure, I think Disney will wait a while before putting their Blu-ray titles in the vault. Blu-ray still hasnt gotten wide-spread attention and they will probably keep their titles released so when consumers do decide to upgrade, they'll have Disney's full catalog to choose from.

First of all, welcome to the forum and I like your name.

I'm assuming Disney will handle Blue Ray releases the same way they did VHS. I don't know if you remember, but some of Disney's first DVD releases were bare bones copies of more recent fare. They didn't put any of their big classics out right away. First titles included "The Parent Trap" remake, "Flubber," "101 Dalmatians" live action, etc... The eventually released "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Mary Poppins" to kind of test the waters. Those two releases weren't available for long. In fact, I only ever remember seeing them for sale at Suncoast back in 1999. Anyways, in 1999, Disney release the infamous set of "Limited Issues," some of their best animated features (along with "The Lion King II" for some odd reason) and they were only available for about 3 months each at the steap price of $30 per disc. I was able to track most of them down as soon as we got our DVD player. The only one I had to pay alot for from ebay was "The Little Mermaid.

Anyways, to get back to the point, I think Disney will be handeling their Blue Ray releases in a similar way. What has been released so far? Fairly recent live action films with hardly any extra bonuses not already available on the DVD releases. Their new add campaign lists many Disney animated classics that are "coming soon." I would expect that these will be available for a more limited time than your typical Disney DVD, much like the "Limited Issues", in an effort to drive sales. Once these titles go into the vault, I'm assuming they will go for lots of money on Ebay a year later. This is all IF Blue Ray either takes off or wins the HD war. My family doesn't plan on getting a Blue Ray player yet. We have two HD TVs, but there isn't much need for us to spend all that money on a new player to buy more expensive versions of movies. We will more than likely wait until Blue Ray begins to become more standard and the price drops on players and movies.

However, when those titles to go out of print, you can bet that I will buy a copy for myself and a copy for ebay. I'm tired of watching everyone else make money when I had the opportunity to do so. lol.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. I don't have any HD TVs let alone a blu-ray player, but I don't want to miss out on the movies! I find that sometimes movies seem to go OOP without much if any warning. Also, if it's like the limited issue DVD releases, it might be almost 10 years before we see them reissued! (still waiting for 101 Dalmatians platinum edition).

I missed out on some of the earlier DVD releases because I was in highschool at the time with limited funds, and it's only recently that I've gotten more agressive with collecting the DVDs. I don't want the same thing to happen with blu-ray.

I'm not really interested in the live action movies they have out right now. I'd get releases like Chicken Little and Cars, but skip Haunted Mansion for example.

Goofystitch, you don't have to wait until the price drops on either format, and you don't have to replace your discs. Either format, I have the Blu-Ray player, upconverts all of your original DVD's to almost HD-like picture and thus your collection will never go out of date. If you have a HDTV, then enjoy it to its fullest and don't worry about which format wins the war.

Princess Stitch I would advise you to at least buy Disney's "Dinosaur", while it is still available in the 2-disc Blu-Ray special edition. I only own three Disney titles in Blu-Ray and that is the 'king' of my Blu-Ray collection.

Blu-Ray players have come down in price considerably since their introduction, my player cost $899 over a year ago and is now selling for $599. Mine is the Samsung BP-1000. I love it, and have had no serviceable problems with it, as of yet. And it gets used about 10 hours a day on certain days during the week.

I'm also planning to pick some of these up in anticipation of getting my player later on, especially Cars since they haven't announced a 2-disc Region 1 release on standard DVD. I did the same thing before I got my DVD player and had a nice collection to watch right off the bat.

dvdjunkie: My copy of Blu-ray Dinosaur isn't 2-disc! Did I miss something??? I mean, I love it - it's the best of my collection too, but it surely isn't 2-disc.
