Actually, they do. The religious have the right not to listen to it. Two entirely different things. I'm not supporting such actions (regardless of my religious views), but it is part of the whole freedom-of-speach rule.Aladdin from Agrabah wrote:Whether I agree or not with them, nobody has the right to insult something that for many people is holy or sanctuary.

enigma, you're right. It wasn't the "no", but the stutter/repeat before that was edited/cleaned up/fixed/tweaked/censored.
Thanks for correcting me!

Finally I know what that was all about! Thanks Luke.Luke wrote:enigma, you're right. It wasn't the "no", but the stutter/repeat before that was edited/cleaned up/fixed/tweaked/censored.Thanks for correcting me!
Anyway, I don't want to get too off topic, but I just wanted to say, that when it comes to insulting holy or sacred things, sometimes people do this because they feel that people are brain-washed by religion and they are trying to send out a message that what is holy is really evil(in that it is lying to/brain-washing people). They are actually trying to do good, they are voicing their beliefs. You can't say that some people's beliefs should be voiced and not others'. Some of the people insulting "holy" things believe that these things are not holy and actually quite the opposite, so they sing about it.

Then everybody has the right to insult you or your family using the worst words in public. But of course, you wouldn't be furious, like every normal person would be, but you would stay calm, thinking; "I will just ignore them because they have the right to slander my name, according to the freedom-of-speech rule." I know that you'l say it's not the same thing, but for people who think that their religion defines their whole existence, it is even more than a personal insult. So, IMHO, everyone has the right to disagree or to not accept every kind of religion, but NOONE has the right to insult other people's sanctuary, using unacceptable words. We have the right to disagree with other people, we also have to respect them and their beliefs. It is part of the whole my-freedom-stops-where-your-freedom-begines rule.Disney-Fan wrote:Actually, they do. The religious have the right not to listen to it. Two entirely different things. Right...but you kinda need to go to the site to see it all...it has photos on the bottom of the page on what the screen drops...(is that what they are called)...look like and they have some a deleted song, deleted scene, and at least one song sang by Ashley Tisdale. It is really exciting i think...but then again...anything TLM is exciting for me...it was the first word i ever said...only it was something along the lines of Arilmeraid...sounds like a drink or somethingPasta67 wrote:I agree with you, Lucylover & Disneyfan, that was a pretty crappy press release. There isn't one bonus feature listed.
*Gasp* Maybe that WAS the complete press release! Maybe Disney's giving us our first barebones platinum! Disc 1 will be for the movie and disc 2 will be for burning your own bonus material. It's Disney's new marketing tool, folks, embrace it.

I'm just happy that I have enough money for the DVD. I asked my mom if she would pre-order the movie from DisneyShopping.com (the DVD/Plush toys/pin/lithos one) and she said that I had to finish my book by the end of this week. So, I'm hoping that I will finish my book, even though I think I will. Today is an off day, because today is LATT2 Day! I'm celebrating, by watching the movie/bonus features!

In response to the religious/heavy metal/freedom of speech tangent here in this thread and at the risk of getting controversial, I've got something to contribute. I'll try not to get too off-topic, but the whole freedom of speech thing works as long as you don't infringe upon the rights of anyone else. So people do have the right to express their opinions, even ones that are viewed negative by religious groups, as long it's not threatening individuals in the process.
Oh, and do keep in mind there are christian heavy metal bands out there. . . http://www.cornerstonefestival.com/bands.cfm I don't feel that the genre should be given a negative label as a whole.
But if we are to go on about this, perhaps it's best to start a thread in the off-topic area.

I know that Disney hasn't released the "Backstage Disney" menu for TLM, but does Disney ever release any DVD's "Backstage Disney" menu, I mean, before the DVD is out in stores?
I'm so excited that there will be a commentary!

Yes, they do. They always release the main menu of each major section, and sometimes if they're nice enough, will show us the menus for some sub categories like galleries and publicity.TheSequelofDisney wrote:I know that Disney hasn't released the "Backstage Disney" menu for TLM, but does Disney ever release any DVD's "Backstage Disney" menu, I mean, before the DVD is out in stores?

I don't think the would edit it in this release because it seems like they just wanted to hurry up with the limited issues. Remember they didn't even remaster ANY of the limited issue pictures. They started to edit the gold classic collection because I guess they got more money lolLuke wrote:One would think so but both the Aladdin "take off your clothes" and "Sex in the clouds" of The Lion King were tinkered with for DVD. Add in the Beast's repetitive "no" that was "cleaned up" and The Little Mermaid could make it 4 for 4 in the controversial changes department. Of course, I'm being slightly facetitious, but it is true that all three instances are not as they were on video. But like you said, it seems reasonable that the scene would have been changed in 1997 or 1999.enigmawing wrote:If the company was to admit to any wrong-doing here, I'm sure they would have digitally altered the scene in the subsequent VHS and DVD release, both of which remained untouched.
