โ€œI love 2D,โ€ Bush said. โ€œRight now we have 2D artists who are doing some bonkers amazing things. Iโ€™ll leave it at that,โ€ Bush said with a wink when we asked about the format returning to the studio.

I, along with many skeptical folks, will believe these words if/when they provide something concrete to put some weight behind the words. :P

I saw that it got so many terrible reviews I'm not sure I'm going to bother. Even the animation have "adult TV series" feeling to it.

the dislikes kinda speak for themselves too. (well for those of us who use the plugin to bring them back I mean)
Its like all the worst stuff of jon k, and none of the good, and I happen to have been a fan of his before we got to know more about him I mean.

yeah that looks terrible, lol. And this movie is inspired by Lady and the Tramp, more like a degenerate and disgusting version....

on topic of 2D at Disney. I sadly think that its very unlikely that we ever see a movie in 2D again a hybrid 2D/3D is likely closest we would ever get to 2D look. They don't have the Capital/Human Capital at current time for anything as grand as full length film.

For Now, 2D is more likely to happen when it comes to Specials and Shorts.

its interesting that we could legit see more 2D going forward. Some Question Marks.
-is the Tiana Special in 2D?
would be LAME if this was in 3D or hybrid. The Tv Show was supposed to be hybrid. Like Disney Animation execs always talk about how they allow their filmmakers to decide what style they want.........and just happens that every single time 3D wins over, LOL.Like what excuse is their to make a sequel to a 2D movie in anything but 2D??? Jared Bush at Annecy talked about the need for character consistency when making sequels. How is it not jarring to go from 2D Tiana and friends to hybrid version? Also bringing in Stephen Anderson to direct the Special who just happened to last direct the last 2D movie in Winnie the Pooh, feels weird to be hybrid. Like if it was 3D or hybrid why not give a directing chance to some up and coming person who wants a bigger gig.

Who knows, time will tell.

-Yesterday they announced that The Magic of Disney Animation will be a thing at Disney World and the involvement of Disney Animation Studio as been confirmed. Its also been confirmed that a Short Film will be at the attraction.
-in 2026 its 100th anniversary of Winnie and in 2027 its 50th anniversary of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Will we see anything there? There are rumors that Disney is looking to "take Pooh back to his animation roots", I don't think it will be a movie but some special/short could be the case.
-in 2027 its Oswald the Lucky Rabbit's 100th anniversary.

comes 2 questions for this one
1st=the Favreau Live Action/Animation Tv Show is likely the MAIN Oswald celebration thing. Will that be 2D Animation? Or 3D or even worse realistic bunny after Lion King/Jungle Book.

2nd=will we get some shorts/specials to celebrate on top of the Favreau TV show?

-in 2028, its Mickey Mouse's 100th anniversary. Surely the company will have to do something there. Whether movie, Featurette, new batch of shorts. Can see combination of more than 1 too, after all, its the Mouse who started it all.

the only recent + is that we are getting more frequent 2D at Disney in the 2020s compared to post 2011. Like
-2021=3 Goofy Shorts
-2022=1 Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Short, there was also 2 adverts in 2D 1 for Oswald and and an advert for 101 Dalmatians too.
-2023=Once Upon a Studio Short, like 80% of the short is 2D.
-2024=2 Donald Duck Shorts to celebrate his 90th.....if Donald got 2 Shorts for his 90th.....what will Oswald and Mickey get for 100th???? Surely something grandeur, one doesn't hit 100th once in lifetime.

nothing grand but at least more consistent. They just need a bigger project to really kick things for realz. Also we had Clements come back to mentor too. Which does indicate more upward trend.

This was exactly what i thought the movie would be specifically preventing to be: a shallow vulgar Sausage Party but with dogs. What a dissapointment. :herc: I was really looking forward to this one because based on Interviews and hints, it promised to be a raw and unfiltred animated movie that is not afraid to tackle such personal unusual themes, which could have presented the "getting fixed" part even as an emotional and personal journey for that dog like in the veins of Shrek where the premise is being a parody or satire but the core elements are actually quite honest and emotional. But yeah the humour looks childish and shallow and tries too hard to make sure its not a kids movie with its dumb provoking dick jokes. The alternative Trailer looks more promising, but idk...

I mean, to be fair, Sausage Partyโ€™s (Red Band) trailers went out of their way to remind audiences that, despite the animation looking cutesy, it was still an R-rated movie.

I just hope thereโ€™s more to the final film than being crass from start to finish.

The Oswald animation is great!

I saw a poster for Light of the World at the movies last night when I saw the new Conjuring movie. I was surprised the Jesus-themed animated film was showing at a theater I went to. Must be a wide release. Good for them.

The first episode of James Lopez's Hullabaloo was released two years ago but I missed it somehow. If you did too, here it is now:

Thank you so much for sharing! :-) Like others have pointed out this truly feels like a return to the Renaissance era of Disney and what a modern 2-D animated Disney movie would feel like! I wonder when weโ€™re actually gonna get the second episode?! :-)

looks like Disney Animation Studio made a 33 second Ad with Mickey, Donald, Goofy playing Baseball.

Step up to the plate! Topps, Disney, and MLB are teaming up for the first ever trading cards of Disney characters including Mickey, Donald and Goofy in MLB uniforms.

In honor of this Walt Disney Animation Studios released a new AD featuring hand-drawn animation.

That twitter account isn't official and Disney released no information on where the ad was animated. It was probably not animated at WDAS as the social media pages for Disney Animation didn't feature it.

Here's the non-cropped version of the ad.

I saw today Light of the world and I have to say that the animation looks good on screen. The script is good and appropriated for all audiences. Honestly I'm glad to have enjoyed a 2D film on screen again. Disney should learn ;)

Is it true that in the end, the characters ask the audience to scan a QR code that says to follow Jesus?

No, that's not true, at least in the version released in Spain. The movie ends with John praying with his father after the resurrection
