Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
I was so looking forward to subscribing to this, but I downloaded it on my PS4 and due to the Disney+ outage I am brought right to the error screen. I have a busy day ahead of me so I'll try again later tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
What cartoons do they have? Can you provide a list? I assume there's more than what they had initially mentioned.UmbrellaFish wrote:First impression is they have a lot more shorts than I thought they would. I’m not an expert, it doesn’t look like they have everything, but they have a lot more than I expected. This is a great positive for me as I have almost no Treasures and was hopeful this would fill the gap.
Also, almost ("almost" being the operative word) all of the classic shorts, starring Mickey, Donald and the rest, have been released on the Disney Treasures line. There are a few exceptions, however. For instance, a small handful have been released on other DVDs, but not the Treasures set, such as the Chip 'n' Dale shorts, of which there were three. Of those three, two, "Chicken In the Rough" and "Two Chips and a Miss", were released in 2005 on the Classic Cartoon Favorites line of DVDs, and the third short, "The Lone Chipmunks", was released as a bonus on a DVD of a "Davy Crockett" movie (I forget which one, though; probably "Davy Crockett and the River Pirates").
Also, "Susie the Little Blue Coupe" and "Casey Bats Again" were conspicuously missing from the Rarities DVD, home of the "special" cartoons they did that could technically be considered an extension of the Silly Symphonies (which, for me, is a catch-all term for any short that is not a Mickey, a Donald, a Goofy or a Pluto), but "Susie" was featured as a bonus on DVD releases of "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" and "The Love Bug", as well as the "Small World of Fun" line of DVDs, while "Casey Bats Again" was featured as a bonus on the DVD release not of "Make Mine Music", oddly enough, but of "Melody Time".
And then there's Goofy. Two of his shorts, "How To Ride a Horse" and "El Gaucho Goofy", were not featured on the Goofy DVD, but that's understandable given that they were originally released as part of other movies ("The Reluctant Dragon" and "Saludos Amigos", respectively), but his two shorts in the 1960s on how (not) to drive safely on the freeway, "Freewayphobia" and "Goofy's Freeway Troubles", have never been released on DVD at all (or even VHS). As well, several educational shorts starring Donald in the 1960s were never released on the four-part Donald set: "Steel and America", "Donald's Fire Survival Plan" and "Family Planning" (which seems like a throwback to those South American films of the '40s). Finally, two other 1960s cartoons have not been released on DVD at all: "Scrooge McDuck and Money" and "It's Tough To Be a Bird", both of which, if I recall, can be found on YouTube (or at least they were; I don't know if they still are or if they have been taken down).
Whether any of the above cartoons I mentioned will be included remains to be seen, unless they appear on the list that I asked for about cartoons featured here. So, again I ask, can you list what shorts are featured on Disney Plus? Based on your comments, I assume there is more than what they have already mentioned?
Hooray! As I've said before, regardless of racial insensitivity, the crows are among the few sympathetic characters in the movie, they are pivotal to the story, and they provide one of the movie's most well-known songs ("When I See an Elephant Fly"). It sounds like The Boardwalk Times (the fansite that originated the rumor of the crows being missing ("Boardwalk" refers to the Boardwalk Resort at WDW)) owes us and the Hollywood press (Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and others picked up on the rumor) an apology!I’ve got Dumbo on. The Song of the Roustabouts is still there. I see the crows are still there, too.
Funny, I seem to recall that the title card came at the end of the Blu-Ray, but then I don't have the Blu-Ray, only the DVD, which does feature the title card during the intermission. Also, the two black centaurettes are still present, right? They are the ones with zebra bodies who are seen serving wine to Bacchus when he first appears.Briefly during the Fantasia “intermission,” a Fantasia title card is brought up I’m not sure if I recall it being this way on my Blu-Ray? Of course Sunflower is still missing. I think the disclaimer here accounts for the Chinese mushrooms, which are similarly racist but still present.
So does that mean that you can't watch "The Muppet Movie", "The Great Muppet Caper", etc.? That sucks. Maybe it's just not available yet.If you click on “The Muppets Collection” it says “Sorry, content you are trying to access is not available currently.”
Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
For me it does not work on firefox. I assumed it was because of some conflicting plugins I have installed or something, but it works fine in chrome. That might help in your case too.disneyprincess11 wrote:It's funny. It works perfectly on my phone and not at all on my computer. I have watched half of the new L&tT and I'm watching Suite life of Z&C right now.
Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
Happy to see the original Mickey Mouse Club on here! Sadly, it's only the first week's worth of episodes, the same ones on the Treasures set. Hopefully more will be added soon.

Feels kind of random, but I’ll take it!!farerb wrote:I heard that The Black Cauldron and The Sword in the Stone got new and improved 4K masters. Melody Time is in HD and uncensored.
I’m sure there’s more 4K content than this even among the “old” Disney classics. Yet with the connection problems users have met since this morning, and without apparently no official listing from Disney, I guess we just have to be patient (... again...) to find out!

I do not even know where to start; I want to watch it all now! My husband said he's starting with The Mandalorian.
*edit* He's ready to watch The Mandalorian now! So there's my first watch on Disney+!!

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
I just subscribed to Disney+ cause I finally found a reliable way to do it from France and plenty enjoy the service nonetheless!
The first minutes spent of it are just pure enjoyment!!! So much to do, so much to explore and to enjoy, a really satisfying reward for any long-time Disney fan who’s been longing for something like this to eventually happen... (*stars in my eyes*)

Thanks for letting us know, UmbrellaFish! I'm so relieved.UmbrellaFish wrote:I’ve got Dumbo on. The Song of the Roustabouts is still there. I see the crows are still there, too.
The Siamese Cat Song is still in the original Lady and the Tramp.

Dumbo and other old movies get a content warning on Disney+

And good news for Star Wars purists/traditionalists:
I can confirm that THEY have been restored to the beginning of the movies.
And by they, I mean...the frickin' Fox logo and fanfare!
I wasn't going to purchase the re-releases from September just for the digital copies and the POSSIBILITY OF restored Fox logos and fanfaie.

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
I think it took me 2 hours to get through one 55-minute episode of “Encore” on my Firestick because of the freezing. Now I’m watching “The Simpsons” on my iPhone no problem.

My first watch too last night! Hope to hear your thoughts about it in The Mandalorian thread.blackcauldron85 wrote:I do not even know where to start; I want to watch it all now! My husband said he's starting with The Mandalorian.

Yeah, I found that super strange. Hope it's added quickly alongside other films like Tarzan and Anastasia.Clindor wrote:No Make Mine Music so far, sorry...D82 wrote: That's great! I hope Make Mine Music is uncensored too.

I actually met the exact same technical difficulty as you. Did you find out a solution or an explanation ?disneyprincess11 wrote:It's funny. It works perfectly on my phone and not at all on my computer.

For some reason, I've only seen The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin pop up under the UHD tab when it comes to hand-drawn animated films.Clindor wrote:Guys, Beauty and the Beast is available in 4K on the platform.

If you go directly to BATB’s movie page and look at the specs, it says it’s available in 4K.

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
So as I was looking around on my Samsung Smart TV, I happened to spot an ad for Disney Plus on there. Out of curiosity, I clicked on it. To my surprise, after several seconds of a blue screen, followed by a spinning circle, I happened upon some Disney characters and the phrase "Log in". I didn't log in because I didn't have the information to do so. But it did make me think that maybe Disney Plus is available on Samsung Smart TVs after all, especially after I went to the set of apps there, and spotted "Disney Plus" under "Recent".
Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)
That's good to hear. The streaming service is supposed to arrive at my country in 2020 or 2021 and I really don't want to add another device to my TV in order to watch it.Big Disney Fan wrote:So as I was looking around on my Samsung Smart TV, I happened to spot an ad for Disney Plus on there.
