Yeah I don think that Lilo and Sitch will come out in the Fall with Cinderella I HOPE NOT!!!!Disneykid wrote:That would make a lot of sense. They gave us Sleeping Beauty with The Lion King and now Mulan with Aladdin. The Pocahontas with Bambi thing makes perfect sense because both films deal with nature and man. Lilo and Stitch and Cinderella don't really go together thematically, but it still makes sense because we know we're getting Lilo next year, so putting it with Cinderella is the only way to go. Although there's always the third option of Disney releasing Lilo in the summer (isn't that when the sequel's due?) and surprising us with another SE to pair with Cinderella (Dumbo, perhaps?).

Wait a minute, "FLuff filled"? There are two commentaries, a pop-up trivia track, deleted scenes and songs, what purports to be an extensive making-of documentary, art review, trailers for all Aladdin films, music videos, galleries, and a featurette on Alan Menken.Ciaobelli wrote:So it looks like we'll get another FLuff filled DVD, yay!!![]()

Bah..
That doesn't sound fluff-filled to me. Sure, the games/activities and new music videos won't offer hard-hitting insight into the making of Aladdin, but I do think they are giving us a fair amount, and hopefully it will be more significant and better arranged than The Lion King.

I think it will be better arranged that TLK, because there is one single Making-of, so hopefully it will be long.
BTW I was gonna be first in line either way.
Thanks for pointing out the better features.
This dvd has the pritiest menus I´ve ever seen on a dvd, so simple and artsy and easy to navigate; the illustrations in the backgrounds are GORGEOUS!!! Why previous platinums don´t have menus like these??, now cinderella and little mermaid have to have something similar.
I'ts enough for this restless warrior just to be with you...
Yeah. I'm not sure why we need making of's for the new music videos though. It's promotion for a promotion! Hey Disney, here's an idea! Why not do a making of the "sneak peek" on the next Platinum DVD?Luke wrote:Wait a minute, "FLuff filled"? Isn't anybody interested in the fact that the Audio Descriptive version is almost 10 minutes longer than the "normal" versions?
Aladdin [Widescreen, Audio descriptive] Classified 29 July, 2004: 95m 52s
Aladdin [Widescreen, Filmmaker's DVD audio commentary, Special edition] Classified 22 July, 2004: Run Time 86m 38s
Aladdin [Widescreen, DVD Animator's audio commentary, Special edition] Classified 27 July, 2004: Run Time 86m 38s
Aladdin [Closed Captioned, Widescreen] Classified 27 July, 2004: Run Time 86m 38s
Now lots of other UK Disney DVDs have had Audio Descriptive soundtracks - such as The Santa Clause 2
The Santa Clause 2 [Audio Descriptive] Classified 29 October, 2003: Run Time 100m 3s
The Santa Clause 2 [Widescreen] Classified 22 September, 2003: Run Time 100m 3s
The Santa Clause 2 [Widescreen, DVD audio commentary] Classified 08 August, 2003: Run Time 100m 3s
None of them have different run times, while the Aladdin one has almost 10 minutes extra. It's possible Disney could have added a prologue and/or epilogue I suppose, but being as the audio descriptive track is simply another soundtrack, they will have been unable to manipulate the length of the film when it is actually running.
Could, just could this mean their could be an option of viewing the film with and without the new song when the movie is played? (Although nothing on the UK menus would indicate this). There's almost ten minutes of added footage if this is the case, indicating new animation would perhaps set up a flashback or dream sequence to make the new song play in context.
The BBFC timings for Pocahontas indicated the "If I Never Knew You" song was reinserted into the film, and apparently this has been confirmed by the animator since.
Update: Thinking about it, it is possible Disnsey are simply playing the music videos after the main feature (Fast Play "style") when Audio Descriptive is selected. It would enable a blind person to listen to the videos without having to navigate the menus. (Although Animated News seem to be just as confused as I potentially am!)
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Thanks a lot for posting the menus, Netty!
This seems to be a chock-full release indeed... Besides, the menus are gorgeous, a thousand times better than The Lion King. I really like how the menus are organized, and I'm curious to check out these three ways of watching the making of. That first option seems to be the "branching feature" Disney talks about on the press-release... Maybe it's like the making of on the "Beauty and the Beast 2" DVD, in which you click on the remote control to access aditional featurettes during the making of itself?

I think I missed the first time this was reported, but they are putting Proud of Your Boy into the movie??? So is Clay Aiken voicing Aladdin's singing voice just for this scene? What happened to the guy who did it before. I'm so confused...I guess I'll have to wait to see it.ALADDIN – photos from the recording session for newly integrated song Proud Of

It's not going back into the movie. It's just a way to promote it. Besides there's no way it could go back into the movie since it has very little to do with it. Aladdin will stay as it is and Proud of your boy wil be available as a deleted animated scene and a music video (correct me if I'm wrong)Kram Nebuer wrote:I think I missed the first time this was reported, but they are putting Proud of Your Boy into the movie??? Really Good News: http://whiggles.landofwhimsy.com/news-index.html
Aladdin
[Posted 07:19 PM by Whiggles]
I got my review copy of Aladdin (R2 UK Platinum Edition) this morning. After the mess that was the Platinum Edition of The Lion King, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Aladdin is largely free of manipulation. As far as I can tell, none of the animation this time round has been modified, and the colours have been transferred faithfully. Furthermore, the original Walt Disney Pictures logo and scrolling end credits have been maintained (although some additional credits have been added for the DVD restoration and remix). That said, one slight change has been made to the film's audio: Aladdin's muttered off-screen line "Good kitty, take off and go", which certain Christian convervatives decided was actually "Good teenagers, take off your clothes", has been altered so that the final few syllables are muted. Personally I don't think that this modification was necessary, but if it stops the moral minority from whining, then it will at least have achieved some good. Perhaps, now that Disney have done such a good job with this release of Aladdin, they can re-release The Lion King with their vandalism corrected.
The extras are also quite a bit better than those of The Lion King. While they are still somewhat episodic in nature, the different segments are now a bit longer and a "Play All" button has thankfully been included. There are still too many kids' games, but overall I'm a lot more satisfied by the bonus content on this release.

I don't think they messed with Aladdin like they did with Lion King (reanimated alligators, dust, etc). It says in the review that was posted by philipp616:Son Of Flubber wrote:Bummer.Luke wrote: There's no reason to believe that it will.
I won't bother to waste my money on this. Whatever the bonus features may be, if the original film is not on this DVD, then it's not for me.
Oh well.
So I don't think you have to worry about missing the original film. Virtually its there with added credits for the DVD (oh and the slight audio change which really doesn't hurt the movie. What I'm wondering is why they didn't just correct it.).As far as I can tell, none of the animation this time round has been modified, and the colours have been transferred faithfully. As I said a few months ago,

From the sounds of this, I am disappointed. If Aladdin doesn't tell us to take off our clothes on the DVD, I will be very disappointed.
