God, Zira looks so off model. @_@
Man has a dream
And that's the start
He follows his dream
With mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true
For you and me!

For those who are sad about it only being a 1 disc blu-ray:

At least if you're bundled up in a blanket and cozy you wont have to get up to put in disc 2! I hope that cheered you up or at least made you laugh or something :)

I'm SO praying that the "top" square of the box, above the movie title, is the way to open that up, and inside we'll find the movies on their respective bluray case... Pleeease be the case!

^I think the title is only a paper sleeve. Still, we don't know whats under it.

Am I the only one who thinks the BD cover is much superior to the DVD cover? It's just a shame they don't do title "shields" anymore. They used to be so epic, until Snow White.

My nightmare is to open the box and see the eight discs floating around loose...

My one beef with the DVD cover is I don't like the white-ish rectangle around "The Lion King" title. But I'm getting the fancy box so the DVD cover doesn't affect me whatsoever lol.

Using their same artwork, This is how the BD cover should have looked in my opinion:

I hate to sound like a negative guy, but in all the pictures of the DVD and Blu-Ray sets, all I see is one Blu Ray disc for the main feature. Unless I missed something, will this be a one disc Blu-Ray or a two disc set? I ask because it all sounds like the set will be light on extras.

Yes, it's been pretty much confirmed that it's a one disc blu-ray. People got angry, and have hopefully calmed down since, realizing that Disney can easily fit more onto one bluray than they have been doing.

I'm hoping for individual cases too. If its like the Toy Box last year I'll pass on this release.

I think people are underestimating the capacity of BD and just thinking about how they used to get 2 discs with the DVD. Pinocchio only took up 22GB and that is roughly the same length as The Lion King. I'd say that The Lion King will be 25-30GB max leaving 20GB for extras. Let's not forget either that although Pinocchio took up 22GB Disney only used 28GB of the disc, leaving 12GB empty...

^Let's not forget previews, which could easily 1.5GB if they're HD, and usually maxed out capacity leads to performance issues. So, we're talking about 48GB used total on this disc.

Want2beBelle wrote:Thanks for posting that lovely trilogy set. I just pre-ordered with my $8 coupon. Hopefully each movie has it's own packaging, because I would hate to pay all that money for them to throw it in a foam box together like how they did with toy story.
look at the pic on Amazon for the trilogy set. :|
I know it looks like it will be thrown in a box without covers. I am about to cancel this order and forget this release it's getting annoying to double dip anyway. I am happy with my gorgeous collector DVD set that I got a while ago with lithographs and a collector book. I miss those days when Disney cared about packaging. I pre-ordered with my iPhone now that I see it, I am not sure about it anymore :?

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY are fan made covers consistently better than official releases?

It makes no sense. You made that for free with limited resources.

Disney pays professional designers to make packaging that is universally loathed.

Dear gravy. Zira looks so off-model on the trilogy box set, it's not even close to being funny. :x
