Re: Sleeping Beauty Platinum Edition
I'm glad that you liked the pictures everyone, it was no problem at all. I was happy to share them
Pink and Blue jets of magic are clearly visable in the the picture, a clear refrence to the story. That was one of the best touches I felt.
Disney Duster - There seems to be deep pink / purple clouds or mist behind Aurora and Philip.
The pleats seem to be an almost peach colour, and her hat scarf thing is almost see-through white. So Disney are a bit off there.
There is no fire at all; the dragon is just open-mouthed, with a jet of Disney Dust going from all three fairy's wands, to Philip's sword, to being aimed at the dragon.
Hope that answer's your questons?

Sleeping Beauty Platinum Edition
Yes, it does answer my questions, even more because I was wondering if their magic was going towards the sword, and it is! That's one of the things I like about this cover, they show the fairies help Phillip, or at least allude to it.
So on the left is the cover Disney gave us online, the middle Altantica's AristoCats pamphlet. and the right brownpuppy's 101 Dalmatians pamphlet:

The first is just the 2003 Special Edition re-arranged with the same castle and swirl of fairy dust from the 1st disc and the same Phillip and dragon from the 2nd disc. The second cover re-draws the castle and dust and Aurora and Phillip. The third re-draws everything, but oddly the dust looks like it's around the fire, not the sword...trying to put it out?
By the way, the shield says "2-Disc Platinum Edition". Disney's fonally stopped calling their Platinum Editions "2-Disc Special Editions".

Re: Sleeping Beauty Platinum Edition
I wouldn't say that Disney has stopped calling their Platinum Editions "2-Disc Special Editions". Sleeping Beauty will be referred to as a "Platinum Edition" both on the front and on the spine because the 2003 release already had the "2-Disc Special Edition" title. Just like Peter Pan featured the words "Platinum Edition" on the cover and spine, because it too had already received a "Special Edition" in 2002. Actually, the final cover art for Sleeping Beauty might not even be labeled a "Platinum Edition" on the cover and spine, but rather as a "50th Anniversary Edition" (even though it is a year early).Disney Duster wrote: By the way, the shield says "2-Disc Platinum Edition". I would bet that the Pinocchio: Platinum Edition in 2009 will be referred to as a "Special Edition" on the cover and the spine because it does not yet have a release under the "Special Edition" name and it will not be released under an "__th Anniversary title" since 2009 does not mark a special anniversary year for the film.

If the SB cover can call it the 50th Anniversary Edition a year early, the "Pinocchio" cover could call it the 70th Anniversary Edition a year early...Simba3 wrote: Actually, the final cover art for Sleeping Beauty might not even be labeled a "Platinum Edition" on the cover and spine, but rather as a "50th Anniversary Edition" (even though it is a year early).

Re: Sleeping Beauty Platinum Edition
I guess you could be right, but the theatrical release of Sleeping Beauty was in January of 1959, so the Platinum Edition will only be 3 months early of it's 50th Anniversary. A "70th Anniversary Edition" of Pinocchio would actually be almost a full year early.blackcauldron85 wrote:If the SB cover can call it the 50th Anniversary Edition a year early, the "Pinocchio" cover could call it the 70th Anniversary Edition a year early...Simba3 wrote: Actually, the final cover art for Sleeping Beauty might not even be labeled a "Platinum Edition" on the cover and spine, but rather as a "50th Anniversary Edition" (even though it is a year early).

But then again, Lady and the Tramp's 50th Anniversary Edition was roughly 8 months late, so you never know. Disney seems to play by their own rules sometimes.
I personally thought Disney should have waited until next year to release Sleeping Beauty anyway. First if all, as I said, 2009 would mark it's 50th Anniversary more accurately. Plus, it has been released on DVD much more recently than either Pinocchio or Fantasia.

I'm guessing he meant to say 45th Anniversary.PeterPanfan wrote:Why would we own the 65th Anniversiary one?? If it's not even 50 yet..Mason_Ireton wrote:Sleeping Beauty will be 50?? wow, so we must currently own the 65th anniversary?? and I can't see Pinocchio's cover saying, Pinocchio: Platinum Edition 69th aniv.

There's no picutres of the Sleeping Beauty from the Toy Fair (the website said they didn't had enough time so they couldn't see the new merchandise and the fair is over) but i didn't found some merchandise from the fair:

It's a video game for small children that they put it on and they play it.

Not surprising to see it get a 50th anniversary edition (I suspect the word edition will be added by october) since 2009 is it's 50th Anniversary. If LATT can celebrate a few months late, SB can celebrate a few months early. I suspect Pinocchio or Fantasia (possibly both) will be 70th Anniversary Platinum Editions too.
