I saw it today and loved it. It's my favorite CGI film to date.
Random thoughts:
Goop had some great lines as a kid. As was predicted, I did like Tallulah's character. (Although I don't understand how a puppet can have a son and a daughter!) I also loved the younger Lucille. Lewis ended up with some very awesome parents!

I was confused by the puppet, as well. However, all of the Robinson's are a little off their rocker, so I kind of assumed that there was a real Tallulah at one point and something happend to her, so her husband made a puppet to ease the pain? Kind of disturbing. Another theory is that maybe the puppet houses her brain and she is still alive? Another sick idea, though. Everyone treats her as a real person and Grandpa Sud made a comment about how she usually takes the motorcycle. I'm surprised that most critics target the obesity of Uncle Joe as the down side of the Robinson family. I feel it is the lack of explanation about the puppet.

There was a real Petunia, you mean. Petunia is the puppet; Tallulah is her "daughter." The first theory was what I came up with - but it's all weird!goofystitch wrote:I was confused by the puppet, as well. With a little editting, I think that quote should have been given to Yzma in a Emperor's New School episode.corrwill wrote:FAV QUOTE FROM THE MOVIE: (close but not perfect)

On the official website, it says:
Disney tried to make the characters that are directly related have some similar genetics, such as hair color. If you look at the Family Tree you can see the connections. Petunia has red hair and Fritz has black hair. This doesn't really prove anything, but both Tallulah and Lazlo have red hair like their puppet mother. Hopefully this will be explained somewhere on the DVD.Uncle Fritz and Aunt Petunia have a strange marriage. She's very cranky and endlessly tongue-lashes Uncle Fritz. She is also a hand puppet!

I forgot to mention this. When I saw it a second time yesterday, I noticed something. When Cornelius places Doris in her display to document his invention, the base says "DOR-15." A 1 looks like an I and a 5 looks like an S, so that's why it's name is Doris. I thought that was pretty clevar of them.

I Saw this Friday in 3D and I loved it and Working For Peanuts the way that the short was presented was so brilliant and the main feature was also very good I loved Bowler Hat Guy he is the greatest Disney villain since Yzma and I too loved Tiny the T-Rex I will go far enough to say that This is the greatest DAC Since The Little Mermaid but the others in between were great too.
Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.

The red hair is exactly what I was going to bring up, but I didn't want to make some sort of mistake. My theories are,
A.) Fritz designed the Petunia puppet after adopting his children or
B.) The real Petunia is deceased.
Odd, odd, odd.
Hopefully. =\Hopefully this will be explained somewhere on the DVD.

Just thought I'd bump this up with the weekend's totals.
Box office mojoi are reporting $17,004,000 for this weekend, although Easter Sunday takings were lower than what a usual Sunday would be for all films on release, still tomorrow should bring in about $6 mil in traffic.
Anyway it's box office total so far is now an estimated $52,235,000.

I saw Meet the Robinsons again today...that makes three times. I'm understanding why I was so underwhelmed the first time and why it has grown on me so very much. It's a movie that has many characters and situations that don't make sense until the end. This made it frustrating the first time. The biggest problem in this regard is with Bowler Hat Guy because it's hard to accept a character when you don't understand his motivation or purpose. I found the movie much more enjoyable when I understood him. With each viewing I enjoy MTR more and more, and today I welled up with emotion at the end...it's a wonderful movie.
I looked for this specifically after reading your comment, and I think I saw a Woody doll from Toy Story and Chicken Little. They are each on their own tables behind the monkey. Woody is to the left of the monkey and Chicken Little is to the right.akhenaten wrote:i tried to look for character cameos in the rejects morgue but all i can see is a monkey like creature..i assumed they'd put chicken little characters among the rejects but no theyre not that evil

I feel the biggest downfall of MTR is the marketing campaign. Disney's marketing team have really been off so far in 2007. First, they extremely false advertised "Bridge to Terabithia." And with MTR, the trailors show clips primarily from the middle half of the movie, which is generally accepted as the films weak spot. The commercials tell very little of the actual story. All that can be inferred is that a boy goes to the future and meets a wacky family. That's not very appealing. Compare that to the new trailor for "Ratatouille" which provides the basic premise of the film and that film has ALOT of hype, and not just because it is a Pixar film, but because it looks very appealing.
To sum it up, I don't think MTR would be incredibly more successful if it was released during peak movie seasons unless Disney changed their marketing angle and showed how the film appeals to the whole family, instead of just kids looking for a film full of wacky characters.
It's hard to say. My cousins came over for Easter and only one out of six wanted to see "Meet the Robinsons." The rest thought it looked stupid and were dying to see "TMNT" instead. March is never the best time for movies to be released. Animated films have done well at this time in the past, though. I think that had MTR been released in the summer or Novermber/December, it would have earned about $50 million more than what it will earn in the end domestically. The reason?i was just thinking, how many of u think that MTR wouldve benefitted more had it been released during fall or christmas season, what with the family togetherness theme and all? i think it could've raked in 200 million

i think i could've slightly affect it. the trailer with the Patrick Stewarty narrator reveals the storyline a bit..but yes disney marketing division needs revamping. they have the suckiest team on the planet.i've never come to like any of the trailers, even for pirates. and yes the terabithia trailer fooled me and i feel sorry for the ticket buyers.not that the movie is bad but it played on a whole different angle.
ur cousins rnt interested? then u gotta convince them with everything you've got!

Well, I don't know if I'd say it would have made 200 mil, but I think it would have done a bit better. Though I feel much of the fault of the film lies in poor advertising.akhenaten wrote:i was just thinking, how many of u think that MTR wouldve benefitted more had it been released during fall or christmas season, what with the family togetherness theme and all? i think it could've raked in 200 million

MTR Was definately better than Home on the Range and Chicken Little But the fact of it being the best DAC Since TLM Is just my opinion but I will say that Disney is starting to make good movies again and in a few years we'll see movies similar to TLM, Aladdin, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast etc..akhenaten wrote:im glad u liked it!! but the greatest DAC since mermaid is an overstatement..since mulan or tarzan, a definite yes!kenai3000 wrote:I Saw this Friday in 3D and I loved it and Working For Peanuts the way that the short was presented was so brilliant and the main feature was also very good I loved Bowler Hat Guy he is the greatest Disney villain since Yzma and I too loved Tiny the T-Rex I will go far enough to say that This is the greatest DAC Since The Little Mermaid but the others in between were great too.
