This final wasn't really that great. Some pretty good moments, but the ending was so predictable. I enjoyed seeing Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Hicks. I was actually surprised to see Ruben on the show as well. I was hoping to see Daughtry on the show, but it looked like they were focusing on past winners which is understandable.

Sanjaya's performance was great in a bad/funny way. As much as I complained that he needed to be voted off I'll admit after he left a part of the "magic" of Season 6 went with him.

Nice to see Melinda again. I hate she wasn't one of the final two, and I really hope she gets to make a CD soon. I know it will be amazing and I can't wait to buy it.

Also, there was supposed problems with the voting in season 2 as well. That's why in season 3 they started letting you use more than one number to vote for each idol when it got down to only a few (I think each of them had 3 numbers this week).
I believe there were voting irregularities that lead to the loss of Clay Aiken and the booting off of Constantine Mouralis and Chris Daughtry. Things like this made me realize the show is a joke.

However, I have to say, she sounded absolutely HORRIBLE! What in the world?! I can't believe how bad this sounds. Terrible.
I totally agree. She sounded like she was dying. And she's the one replacing Celine Dion in Las Vegas?

Congratulations to Jordin Sparks! I had a feeling she would win...And, as I've said earlier, for the sake of Blake Lewis, I'm glad he lost and didn't have to sing the song he seems to hate, "This Is My Now". Knowing me, I'll end up downloading Jordin's version when it's available. It's growing on me.

I still say that Melinda should've won, but Jordin has an amazing voice, too. God for her.

I think that, besides Jordin, Blake, Melinda, LaKisha, & Chris Richardson, at the very least, will get record deals. Heck, who are we kidding, Sanjaya will get a record deal and he'll sell millions of copies of his debut album (little girls seem to love him). I think it'd be great if Gina got an album- I like her.

I was so happy to see Brandon (my initial favorite male) & Stephanie back. Even though they won't be going on tour (since the tour involves the Top Ten).

I wish the next season started sooner...even though I haven't been watching as faithfully this season as I used to, I still love the show. Bring back Queen & Elvis night, and I will watch all season. Last season had great theme nights.

Oh, and was anyone else shocked that there were so many Beatles songs sung last night?!?!?! :o Does Michael Jackson own them still? If so, he must've been desperate for some money...I don't think that he ever should've been able to own them (what Paul, George, & Ringo thinking? Or even John [?] Selling away the rights of their songs...?!?), but that's another subject. I am a huge Beatles fan, so it was great to hear those songs...Carrie is definitely the favorite past-Idol winner...she got to sing the longest & she's been on the show multiple times. I like her, so I think that's cool.

I thought that Jordin's performance with Ruben was wonderful. Does anyone know that song? And who it's by? It was great.

I think that Blake showed us that Jordin deserved to win this singing competition after his performance with Doug E. Fresh. I commented that the older people in the audience must not have been happy. I'm amazed at his skill...how do you learn that you can do that? And, I figured that Blake is more like a human turntable more than a human beatbox...which is irrelevant, but it's a comment I made.

I'm glad that Kelly got to sing "Never Again". The older people who voted for her in Season One probably were like, "What happened?!?! This is the same sweet Kelly that we voted for?!?!). Especially since she & Clive Davis butted heads about her more-rock edge, I thought that it was great that she could sing her song. At first, I was shocked that she'd be back on Idol (I think she was on "Idol Gives Back", but I didn't watch that), but then I realized that it's the perfect marketing tool for her new single & album. Same with Daughtry...who doesn't like the fact that he came from AI.

Oh, and I really enjoyed Melinda's performance with BeBe & CeCe Wynans (sp?). I'm not familiar with their songs, but I've heard of them. But, the performance was excellent.

Originally a hit song by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell for the Motown label subsidiary Tamla records back in the 60's. Great song, and it truly was a great performance for Jordin and Ruben.

As far as the Beatle songs went, it was 40 years ago that Sgt. Pepper was released, and I think that their tribute was well deserved, I am a very big Beatles fan and very big Paul McCartney fan. I didn't notice that many Beatle songs on the show until the Sgt. Pepper medley. There were a ton of Motown songs with Smokey Robinson and others. And of course Gladys Knight did her two big songs.

Worst moment on the show was Bette Midler's version of her own song "Wind Beneath My Wings", which she butchered very badly. She looked like she was bored with the whole thing and sounded totally unprepared to sing that song.

Second worst moment was Sanjaya "trying to sing" "You Really Got Me" with Joe Perry from Aerosmith. Glad that we don't have to put up with him anymore. And yes, I agree, he will have ONE hit album because of the following from all the teary-eyed pre-teens who think he is 'their idol'.

One of the better highlights of the night was Doug E. Fresh and Blake up there doing their 'beat-boxing' best, and I am glad that it was short as it was because that stuff gets really grating on the ears after a very few minutes. But there is no denying that Blake is in his element with that style of music.

Wish that the finals had been between Jordin and Melinda, but I am so glad that Jordin won, and I hope that she has a very successful career from all of this.

I did not watch much of American Idol this year, but I rather would have Jordin win than BeatBox (AKA Blake).

Thanks, dvdjunkie! I googled them & AI, and found the name of the song:
"You're All I Need to Get By" (another website just said "You're All I Need").

Thanks again!

Among the many appearances today and tonight, do not miss Jordin Sparks on Jay Leno tonight. Just got done watching and she is beautiful, and those who don't think that she has a personality will be surprised. She kept Leno on his toes during the interview. I think she is going to be a great representative of American Idol.

Jordin's "This Is My Now" was on the radio this morning...I was groggy, so I didn't hear if it was the live, AI version (probably), or a studio recording (my guess is no, but I don't know).

May 29th, Phil Stacey will be here in Wichita to perform a fund-raising concert for the tornado-ravaged town of Greensburg, Kansas. He will be performing at Central Christian Church on Rock Road in beautiful downtown Wichita, Kansas. Tickets are $15 and $25, and there is a special Meet-and-Greet ticket for $100.

Phil graduated from High School here in Wichita, and was our American Idol darling for the short weeks he was on. So he will be welcomed 'home' for this great show. I know that I will be there for it, and can't wait to hear what he will be singing.
