I decided to look it up, and you're right. The Lady and the Tramp LD only had an excerpt from one of the Disneyland TV shows, not a single trailer whatsoever. I also checked out Peter Pan's LD info and discovered that it, too, had absolutely no trailers. Hopefully this means that when Disney dug through their vaults to retrieve the original theatrical trailer, they included the re-issue trailers, as well like they did with Lady and the Tramp.Big Disney Fan wrote:That's not necessarily true. The LATT PE contains three trailers, one from its initial release in '55 and the other two from its reissues in 1971 and Christmas of '86, respectively. But as for Peter Pan, I guess one trailer is better than no trailers at all.

And if they do go with several trailers, I hope that they have at least two other trailers as well as the original 1953 trailer. I'm thinking trailers from the reissues in 1969 and '89, respectively. Maybe the '69 trailer will be pretty psychedelic!Disneykid wrote:I decided to look it up, and you're right. I'm glad this film is getting released, as I didn't get it the first time round. I suppose there will be a lot of Tinkerell material in this one to promote the spin-off. Tinkerbell was great, and is one of the most memorable characters, but for me the film was always about poor Hook and how Peter tortured him.
I wish we could have got Pinocchio and 101 Dalmatians SEs first, though.

Hey,
Just thought I'd let you guys know that Disney updated their Peter Pan Official Website. No video clips yet, but I'm sure we'll get some sometime in Feburary. Even though Peter Pan isn't my favorite Disney movie (actually, compared to the others that have yet to come out, it's the one I'm looking forward to the least..) I'm still getting pretty excited about this release. I have never owned Peter Pan in any form (heck, I watched it for the FIRST TIME about a year or two ago), so I'm pretty excited about finally owning it.

I wish they'd update the site more often! I keep looking on the official website but normally there's nothing new.
So, thanks for telling us it's been updated. I hope they're gonna put some videos up there soon. I want to see more of the restoration and the extras. It's only 2 more months!!
I'm getting excited!

Peter Pan Platinum Edition Official Site
Disney does such a good job with all of there flash animated sites. Cinderella's had the fairy godmother doing the same movements she did in the movie when the page loaded. Now, this site has Peter Pan and the Darlings flying as the page loads, and their shadows turn gold just like the pirate ship at the end of the film! The pixie dust thing is kind of useless, though, cause it doesn't reveal secret prizes or do anything amazing. It just makes Peter and the Darlings float, the crocodile lower his head (is he ashamed of looking at pixie dust?), and opens Hook's mouth so you can pour it down his throat!
Then the map thing is cool, and the whole site has all sorts of features that really are unique and fun.
Although, strangely, this one is much cooler and has had much more attention paid to it than The Little Mermaid's. Maybe they knew The Little Mermaid would be such a hit, they didn't need a fancy, impressive web site to make people want to buy the movie, but they think a cool web site will give Peter Pan it's Platinum push.
By the way, even though the planned cross-promotion with Tinker Bell and the Ring of Belief fell through, this release is definately also about cashing in on Pirates, because in the press release they called Captain Hook "the original Captian Jack Sparrow".

Re: Peter Pan's Platinum site
I have to agree bout the website being more detailed and flexible, course the "Find Peter's 10 shadow" challenge lives up to the task it presents, I only found 9 of 'em *chuckles* think it'd be good for the dvd. Now we just have to wait for the dvd material along with T-Squad's music video. Disney better pull the same revamp on Jungle Book's website too.
Update: I found all 10 shadows a couple mins ago and the prize is a wallpaper verison of the front page and Darling childern flying in the sky.

I was in my local Disney Store in Sothampton this week, and discovered that they had Pater Pan: Special Edition stock in!
At first I thought they were relaunching Disney Heros, but nope! Its Peter Pan alright! At the moment, it mostly has action figures, dress-up and snowglobes. The Wendy plush toy now has a tag attatched with Peter Pan Special Edition on it. The logo is blue, with pixie dust going through it.
Anyone else have any more merchandise?

There was a ton of it here. A new line of resin figures for kids to play with. New plush. A re-release of the halloween costumes (captain hook's hat is a little diferent, but close enough). Children's clothes, some great baby clothes. Some children's t-shirts. A lot of the tinker bell fairy stuff, too. A new pirate ship playset that is different from the older one. Lots of stuff. They are pre-ordering the dvd with the lithos.atlanticaunderthesea wrote:I was in my local Disney Store in Sothampton this week, and discovered that they had Pater Pan: Special Edition stock in!

Unfortunately, that's not the case as we don't have the John Canemaker-hosted documentary The Story of Disney's Nine Old Men (27 minutes), the 1930 Silly Symphony Playful Pan, the Poster Gallery, or the entire 1924 silent film from Paramount (97 minutes).Big Disney Fan wrote:Also, we should get everything that the French double-disc set got...
One consolation is that the 1924 film is available from Kino (link supports UD, yay!)

Psh. Well we might get the Poster Gallery, since Disney hasn't really listed specs for any of the still galleries. But I doubt we'll see the others. I really would have loved to seen the Canemaker documentary, hopefully Disney will see it fit to release in R1 one day.Big Disney Fan wrote:So, we're not getting a Poster Gallery at all?Escapay wrote:Unfortunately, that's not the case as we don't have the John Canemaker-hosted documentary The Story of Disney's Nine Old Men (27 minutes), the 1930 Silly Symphony Playful Pan, the Poster Gallery, or the entire 1924 silent film from Paramount (97 minutes).
