I believe its domestic gross dropped beneath Aladdin's a few days back despite having a stronger start. I suppose, if it stays there, it will be the worst-performing of the Fab 4 in the States as well as internationally.

EDIT: Oh, I see you had already posted that, Sotiris. I hadn't read everything just yet when I posted earlier. It was something I'd noted last Thursday, but I hadn't visited the forum the past few days.

I went a second time as well today. Totally spontaneous. I still maintain my initial opinion. The best things about it were Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy.

Why is this artworks seeing as something bad? We have seen lots of artworks of Halle with the original Ariel look and poses. People should be more concern about importante problems and not about this stupid things...

Complaining about "whitewashing" an originally white character that got blackwashed.. oh well rotfl

Little different but reminds of that controversy recently as well about an east asian artist drawing them exchanging hairstyles, so people were saying that the cultural appropriation there is Ariel having dreads since she's white and mocking and attacking :)

I'm pretty sure that most of the people Who is attacking this artworks are the same that defended that Ariel can be black because she's a Mermaid and mermaids doesn't exist.
If you are saying this then why do you complain about this artwork? Why a Mermaid can not wear braids? It is only an artwork and it's harmless. I'm very tired about cultural apropiation and this kind of stuff.
As I said before I live in Spain and lots of tourists come here. They use to wear typical dresses and I don't feel offended by that because I understand that my culture is the result of lot of things taken from other cultures. If we want a world without racism then we should share our cultural things and mix them with other cultures.

Besides calling her Halle Berry in one part, I liked your entry. I also grew up watching the TLM cartoon; besides the 1989 film being amazing, I think the TV show for sure cemented people's love (especially people around our ages) for the franchise.

Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” remake should land in fifth place after earning $3.7 million on Friday. The underwater musical is looking at a $12 million gross through the three-day frame, pushing its domestic total to $256 million in its fourth weekend. After matching the pace of 2019’s “Aladdin” remake through its first few weeks, “Mermaid” is slowing down a hair — “Aladdin” had grossed $264 million through the same stretch of time.

Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” rounded out the top five with 11.6 million in its fourth weekend in theaters. The live-action remake has amassed $253 million in North America and $466 million to date, which would have been a good result… had the movie not cost $250 million. At this rate, “The Little Mermaid” is struggling to break even in its theatrical run.

I saw on Twitter that the movie is still in Japan's first position. Spider-Man and Transformer are not so popular as TLM. I thought that in Japan the movie was not going to be so succesfull.

Yes, The Little Mermaid remake ranked #1 at the Japanese box office for two consecutive weekends so far. However, it's grossing significantly less than the Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King remakes were during the same timeframe.

I thought that this weekend the movie was going to achieve 500k but It didn't. Disney is earning money thanks to the merchandise but they have to be worried with these numbers.

It'll reach $500m eventually but I don't see it getting more than $550m.
