The Animation: Wow. Now, traditional animation is still my favorite, that hasn't changed. But I have to admit I completely forgot about my preference when I saw Tangled. The CG didn't distract me from the story like I thought it might, and the 3D effect only made shots look deeper. The traditional influence is subtle, but it's still evident in the characters' movement. There really isn't a reason to hate. It's gorgeous.

Comedy: done surprisingly well here. There's plenty of physical comedy of course, mostly from Flynn and Max, but it never felt forced. The laughs were genuine and the timing was spot on. The humor comes from the moment and is balanced perfectly with the drama - Like the cave scene! It's a bit of a downer and you can't help but worry. The little girl behind me even started freaking out. But by the end of the scene the whole audience was chuckling (Flynn :D). The important thing is, the movie has heart. Tangled is a combination of all the elements that made the other classics special - adventure and discovery, love and humor.

Funny as it is, you might wanna bring a tissue. Or two.

This!! Also the tissue thing is good advice. I had to use my sleeves :P

Hey ya'll, this is a little random, but a user from the imdb.com board asked me about the score near the end of the film, and reminded me that this was a particularly gorgeous piece of music. I don't want to spoil anyone who's trying to avoid the soundtrack listing, and I also think the name is a little telling, so I'll put it in white HERE: "The Tear Heals"

Be sure to look out for this song when the soundtrack comes out, it's beautiful!

Hey phan258 -

I'm just wondering if the movie ends with a classic Menken choral ending a la BatB, TLM, Aladdin, Pocahontas, etc.? If so, which song is used as the basis for the choral?

For example

Beauty ended with a short choral reprise of the title song
Mermaid ended with a short choral reprise of Part of Your World
Aladdin ended with a short duet/choral reprise of A Whole New World

Is there something comparable in Tangled (probably on the Kingdom Celebration track)?

Ah, you know, someone else asked me the same question and I unfortunately cannot remember! I was pretty emotional by that point (i.e. trying not to sob really loudly and embarrass myself, LOL.) I'm so sorry! HumorlessPoppycock, do you recall if there was a chorus at the end?

Hey, I think there's a new Tangled commercial out. I didn't see it because I was in another room, but I heard it coming from the tv. It sounded a lot like the "Surprise" 90-sec spot one, except it had Mother Gothel saying the "Look in that mirror.... Oh look, you're here too!" line in the beginning.

phan258, forgive me for posting this for you. By the way, I could not tell if that site has been posted or not. I know that it has for part 1, but I cannot tell for part 2.

Oh crap, I can't remember. There was a fair amount of narration + dramatic score towards the very end - soooo either I wasn't paying enough attention or it just wasn't there.

haha awesome cross promotion! I was waiting for some sort of tangled hair product tie in. I do wish we had some more slow motion glamour shots of R twirling her hair though!

That's definitely a great idea for cross-promotion! I'm still waiting for Tangled de-tangling spray, though... :D

The strange thing is that that commercial is probably the most enchanting and enticing promo for this film so far.
