In the original fairy tale, it's implied that Cinderella's mother comes back to her in the form of a dove, to watch over her. She also supplies her with the three different dresses she wears to each ball.

So maybe the butterfly is her mother in this one ?

I actually like the trailer. It's a return to when teasers actually lived up to their name. I think people have gotten used to studios essentially making their teasers roughly 2.5 minutes that tell you what the film is about. Cinderella is one of those stories where a single image is iconic enough to be instantly distinguishable. Keep in mind the film is still 10 months away. It wouldn't be wise for Disney to throw everything out there so early. I suppose we'll get the next trailer with film footage in October attached to Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Toky, it seems this isn't Nanny McPhee music but original music for this trailer because the music between the US trailer and the British trailer are different in the very end! They couldn't tailor music from another movie to make two different versions, could they?

You know disneyprincess11 it was smart that you thought a trailer would be put before Maleficent, because now we know there is one! Well, just a teaser, but still!

It depends on which version of the fairy tale you are talking about. In the original Grimm's tale, Cinderella's mother is a dove that gives her the dresses, using the hazel tree around her grave, but in the original Perrault tale, which the Disney animated version and this Disney live-action version are based on, the fairy godmother is the one who helps her go to the ball. But I read a version from a manuscript that pre-dated the Perrault and Grimm's versions and I can't remember if it had Cinderella's mother as a bird or not, but the tree at her mother's grave gave her the dresses. There probably was the mother as a bird.

Some info about the film from the actor who plays the prince's best friend, the Captain of the Guards. I think it's cool that this new version gives the prince a male friend like other Cinderella movies have done in the past (and he is usually a captain as well in the other Cinderella movies).

The film seems to focus a lot on (hopefully fleshed out) relationships and that's always a good thing! Thanks for posting this!

No problem! I'm way too excited for the film. I've read nothing but good things from those who have seen it. I can't believe it premieres less than 9 months from now. I can't wait to start seeing clips! I also love that it focuses more on relationships. Furthermore, I feel like this film will delve deeper into issues and motives that were only briefly explored in the animated film, such as the dysfunctional relationship between Cinderella and Lady Tremaine, who the prince was and why he chose Cinderella out of everyone in the kingdom, and so on.

Great find tsom! I actually love that this will have some sword fighting in it and the prince doing more. As long as it's not another needless fantasy movie battle like we've gotten lately, lol. If you think about it, sword-fighting for this film makes a lot of sense as the King in the original animated film sword-faught with the Grand Duke. I also love that this will be about Cinderella's believing in herself saving her (even though the original animated movie kind of did it too by having her belief in her dreams bring the fairy godmother to her).

I am so even more excited for the film!

But hey, tsom, what did you think of the teaser poster and trailer?
WonderNeverOz wrote:I love how they changed the heart into a butterfly. As much as I love the heart in the original movie, it wud look a little too cheesy in a live action movie i think.
I don't think it would look cheesy. There's a Master Replicas glass slipper replica from the original animated film that looks great, and I own a Disney Store replica with the heart made of frosted glass which looks beautiful, too!

I loved the teaser! It was just magical and perfect. I can't wait until this film comes out! As for the poster, although it is very pretty, I'd rather see people in it than just a shoe. The picture with Lilly James on a horse is just beautiful, but that would never be the poster.

Oh, just saw that this film will also get a novelization that will come out two months before the movie premieres. http://www.amazon.com/Cinderella-Live-A ... 1484711130

I'm so glad you like the teaser trailer! As for the poster, it's a teaser poster, not the final poster, which will have people in it. I love that for the teaser, it has just the shoe.

I was wondering if there would be books for the film, so I'm happy there will be a junior novelization! But I'd rather have an extensive "about" and "making of" book for the film, or a book that covers both that and the original 1950 animated version and the original fairy tale, like that Sleeping Beauty book that was about the fairy tale, the 1959 animated version, and Maleficent.

I, too, am excited about them delving deeper into relationships in this film!

Actually, there is a book like that being released! It's by the same author as the Sleeping Beauty/Maleficent book. :)

Oh wow, that's so cool! Seems like an awesome book! Although, I do think the title should read "From Perrault's Cendrillon" instead of "From the Grimm Brothers' Aschenputtel."

By the way, while I was looking for more information about this film, I found out that Universal Studios was developing their own Cinderella film. I wonder if that's still happening?

Yes, that's the one! Thanks!

I like that it matches the Sleeping Beauty book. I haven't read the Sleeping Beauty book yet, though. Has anyone on this forum read it? Is it worth reading?

That looks like a really interesting read ! Would be interested myself as well if anyone else has read it too. Is it a big publication or a slim volume ?

Aw yes! Thanks supertalies and Sotiris!

The nitpicker in me must say: The Sleeping Beauty book should have the image from Mlaeficent be replaced with one of her facing forward, to match the image of her from the original animated 1959 film. For the Cinderella book, I would think an image of Cinderella and the Prince from the live-action 2015 film should replace the one of her on the horse, to match the topmost image of Cinderella and the Prince from the original animated 1950 film's concept art.

But I love the pink background with the bluer images, it's very keeping with the colors of the original animated 1950 film! It's a rather beautiful cover!

I think they'll eventually replace it. Something tells me they want to keep the ball dress secret for a while.

I believe so too. From what I've read by people who have seen a screening of the film, the costumes are magnificent, especially her ballgown. I already love the blue dress she's wearing in the picture with the horse. I cannot wait to find out what scene it's from. I'm guessing it must be before she becomes a servant because she's still pretty clean.
