Lasseter does appear to be more involved with several different aspects than some people give him credit for...
...yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's sitting somewhere cackling about how to put a Diamond Edition of "Bambi" on one Blu-ray disc.

Got the Blu-ray today, and the picture is amazing! Was not expecting anything else on a Disney release though...;)

None! After the opening Disney Blu-ray title, it goes straight to the main menu and I couldn't see any Sneak Peek option.
What!?! No sneak peeks? That's beyond odd for Disney not to advertise on their own movies.
Australian released dropped sneak peeks years ago :( I really wish they didn't!

Isn't John Lasseter on the Board of Governers of the Academy? It's possible he might have a say in regards to the Oscar show in that regard. I wouldn't even be surprised if he was one of the folks who suggested that there be 10 nominees in best picture, so that more films would have a shot of getting in (after all, animated films have been particularly helped by this expansion).

Bambi Diamond Edition Premium Package

That's all they have up on the website about it so far. I don't see any other information. If I find anything, I will post it and let you know. :)
Thanks. That looks awesome. A shame it's a DMC exclusive. At this point I don't think joining right now would be that big a benefit to me.
Well, it's 70 bucks, so I dont think even us members are gonna be able to afford it.

I was tempted to order this but it appears it is only available in the DVD+BD case. No buy for me.

Ha I am the exact opposite! I hate how Blu-ray cases are so short when they are next to my DVD cases. I should just put them on a different shelf, but until then, I am sticking to DVD-sized cases if possible!

Does anybody know if that thing will actually be as big as it looks? Like that much bigger than a DVD case? I wish it was the same size as the Snow White and Beauty and the Beast Book Sets that were released with their Diamond Editions.

Well, they really went lazy this time. Flower's exactly the same.
The artwork on the rightside is more in tune with the actual film. That's a first. You rarely see the artwork for Disney DVD covers put some effort into actually resembling their product with such detail.

Yes, it's still missing. It's the sped-up, RKO title-length blue castle (rather than the new CG one).

MY BAD. The sped-up blue castle logo only appears on the version of the film within the Story Meetings feature. On the actual film (and the Disney View version), it opens with the new CG castle.

Does anyone know if advanced copies of Bambi have been sent out to inviduals who review movies yet? With only 2 weeks until release, we'll probably start seeing reviews (and screenshots!) any day now! :D

Since the Blu-ray is out in the UK for almost 2 weeks now, I wonder why there isn't anything yet.

There are a few things about this release which confuses me, I'm wondering whether anyone can enlighten me. Firstly as Scamander has pointed out the UK has had Bambi: Diamond Edition for almost two weeks, how is this when the UK (as far as I am aware and regarding only the Platinums/Diamonds) normally get the new additions to this line a few weeks after our America couterparts? Not that I'm complaining that we've got it all ready, just curious! Secondly why is there no option to buy the Combo Pack in DVD packaging as others have had? Finally how does the DVD Edition have the Diamond Edition banner when I thought that title applied only to Blu-Ray, with DVD releases coming about 6 weeks later with a 2 Disc DVD banner?

1. Well UK (and the rest of the world) got Dumbo + BATB 3D (in cinemas) before the US. So it just seems like your home video department is being plain mean :P

It doesn't have the DIAMOND banner. And it is coming out 6 weeks later (April).

Yes I have Dumbo on Blu-Ray and have done for almost a year now (STILL haven't got around to watching it yet, shocking I know!), I know the US are still to have it released there which is why I was referring to the Platinum/Diamond line only. Guess we struck lucky with Dumbo though. To my knowledge Beauty and the Beast has not been re-released in 3D in the UK as of yet. If it has it certainly wasn't a wide release, and I am extremely gutted to have missed it! According to this article both Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King are receiving 3D Blu-Ray releases at the end of this year, however there will be no theatrical re-release as originally planned.

That's my mistake this must be in the UK only. Grrrr why is Disney so inconsistent when it comes to Home Video releases it drives me insane! In the UK there's a Combo option (in Blu-Ray packaging) or a DVD Only option (which has a silver border reading Diamond Edition), as well as bundle with the sequel (on both formats), I've got the sequel on DVD already so I'm fine with that. Both the Blu-Ray and the DVD editions were released on the same day unlike Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Beauty and the Beast, which I find very odd!

I find it funny how the Platinum edition of Bambi has different cover art for the US and Europe and the DVD edition does this time as well, whereas all the other titles in the line share the same covers, strange :)

Lucky you! We still have to wait 2 weeks in the US, but I'm sure March 1 will be here before we know it. :D

I'd watched Bambi once in the last year or so, but prior to that, it had been years since I'd seen it, too. I only have the VHS Masterpiece Collection edition, and I have purposely not watched it recently so that the Blu-ray will be a "fresh" viewing experience on release day!

I guess I shouldn't be so impatient about Bambi's release, or the other releases in March (Nausicaa/Tangled), because after that, we won't see another DAC release for about 6 months with The Lion King in October, unless Dumbo springs up somewhere over the summer. We've also got The Incredibles and the Cars re-release in April to look forward to, but that's about it so far!

Ah but then we have wait several months after you to get Tangled :( I am soooo excited to own that film!! I popped it in quickly and the Menus we beautiful, haven't had time to watch it or any of the features and don't think I will tomorrow either so will probably have to wait till Friday. Oh well it's something to look forward too :)
