Toy Story 2 In my opinion, it's better than the first. It's a very enjoyable film, and I could watch it, like, a million times and not be tired of it. Haha

I watched "Mississippi Burning" for the first time last night. It's a crime drama loosely based on the FBI investigation into the real-life murders of three civil rights workers in the U.S. state of Mississippi in 1964. I found it to be most engrossing and extremely powerful, although unbearable to watch at times. Overall it was a great film considering I stumbled across it channel hopping (I always find great movies doing this

). It also just goes to show how far along we've come by having the first black U.S. President, after so many years of unjust treatment towards black people.

Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit - A very good follow up to the original with one of the best performances put on film to date (I'm referring to "Oh Happy Day.")

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - Absolutely loved it. I think it's my favorite in the series so far. More thoughts in the proper thread.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - The best in the series so far. Can't wait for Deathly Hallows!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Not the best film, not the worst. It's a good introduction to the series.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Definitely better than the first film. The acting is improved and so is the story.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Better than the first two films combined! I don't really know what else to say. Haha

Bobby asked yesterday what movie "Pecos Bill" is in, and so last night we watched Melody Time. "Trees" really is the only boring segment, so in some ways, it is better than Make Mine Music, which has more than one boring part. I love "Little Toot" the most (well, tied with "Johnnie Fedora", as far as shorts from those 2 movies are concerned). Lots of fun shorts. Bobby seemed concerned that Panchito was nowhere to be found in "Blame It on the Samba"...maybe it's his favorite Caballero, who knows?

Frank Miller's Sin City

For the second time. I love this movie! It's fittingly over-the-top, it's a faithful comic-adaptation, it has gorgeous imagery, the visuals are stunning, the acting is more than okay, and...

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh - The 3 year old my sister looks over came to our house for awhile today, so we put this on. In my opinion, probably the best animated Disney film of the 70s.

Planet of the Apes (1968) - I thought this was a great sci-fi film, though it did drag in some parts. The ending scene is classic.

Ed Wood - I watched this in its entirety for the first time last night. I thought it was a good film and both Johnny Depp and Martin Landau were great in their roles.

I watched Summer Magic last night. I bought it a year or so ago but hadn't watched it yet. I absolutely LOVED IT!!! I knew some of the songs already, but it was great to see & hear them in context. Such a great movie- it was funny, it was sweet. I didn't understand why Nancy spoke with a British accent when the rest of her family didn't... A+!

I invited some friends over yesterday for a Disney movie marathon. I let people choose (first come, first pick) what we would watch. We watched Enchanted, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, and The Black Cauldron. Disney movies, friends, and food. What a fun combination!!!

This reunion of Kate and Leonardo as couple is really a sad story!

But it seems in the end the widowed husband has found some peace in his life.. but I may be mistaken.

Meet the Robinsons

First time I saw this second Disney CGI movie and it was better than I expected. Love that bowler-hat man!

On Saturday, I watched the extended cut of That Thing You Do! It provided better backstories to some of the scenes, but it dragged at points, so I like the theatrical version better.

Last night, I watched Night of the Living Dead with the Rifftrax commentary on. I thought Mike Nelson, Bill Corbet and Kevin Murphy had a few funny lines, but it was mostly boring.

Today I saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I thought it was slightly better than OotP, It had good visuals and stayed mostly true to the book, but they left important parts out (again), which annoyed me (again

).

Once again I've watched

Jesus: the 2 part-minseries from "The Bible" series.

Several things that sets this movie apart from other retellings of the Life of Jesus I've seen:

- Jesus (Jeremy Sisto) is very emotional, affectionate - and playful. Some may find it annoying or even blasphemous, but I find it refreshing.

- There is an invented character added: Livio, Roman spy (Michael Baily) who becomes an unofficial adviser and henchman of Pilate (Gary Oldman)

- Pilate is portrayed as a sly, vicious character who wants to put Jesus to death all along but he plays it in a way so that Jesus "becomes their [the Jewish leaders] problem".

-The devil (Jeroen Krabbé) wears a modern Armani suit. He not only tries to tempt Jesus in the desert, he reappears in the Garden of Ghetsemane to tell Jesus his sacrifice will be in vain (showing him images of crusades and witch burning and war). "That's what you'll achieve with your death: another reason to kill". It's a leap from the Biblical context, but quite effective.

- The last scene shows Jesus in a modern-day setting (and modern clothes of course), meeting up with a bunch of children.
