Picked up 8 DVDs today:
Schoolhouse Rock (10 dollars at Target this week)
Dude, Where's My Car/ Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure double feature (7.50, I was going to get the Bill and Ted 1 and 2 double feature for 5.50, but since I already have the second film on DVD from Pizza Hut...)
Best Buy:
Apple Dumpling Gang 2 movie collection (9.99)
Homeward Bound 2 movie collection (9.99)
Bridge to Terabithia (5.99)
O Brother Where Art Thou (5.99)
Eight Below (5.99)
Wal-Mart:
Fox and the Hound 2 (19.99, wanted to get it while there was still one with a slipcover)
I'm ticked off though. The only one that had a Disneymovierewards code was Schoolhouse Rock. Not even Fox and the Hound 2 had one!!! That made me check the listing, and it seems I should have gotten more codes for the Disney DVDs I bought the previous weeks too. Only Parent Trap 2 movie collection had a code. Aargh!!!
Also annoying. I tried two different Best Buys, and though they were supposed to have Cool Runnings at 5.99 (one had the price card on the rack, one did not), neither would give it to me at that price... Unacceptable. Whatever happened to the days when the customers were treated with respect, if not just fairly.
Anywho, "Demons" is supposed to be 6.99 this week(month?) at Best Buy, so I will try to remember to go look for that one. They didn't have it today though. What I really want to get though, is Mulan 2 (before the collection set causes it to disappear) and Absent Minded Professor. I completely forgot that it was coming out in a double feature with Son of Flubber and went ahead and bought Son last week for 5.99.
I am rather tempted, I must admit, to get that Hannah Montana concert DVD, even though I'm not really a fan. The 3D concept intrigues me. However, I think I'm going to hold off and make it one of my first Blu-Ray releases, whenever that day comes (which may be further off than I anticipated, since I'm not sure I should get it without having a worthy television set too. Most technology in my house is still oldschool, and I want to get a DVD recorder with VHS before I get a Blu-Ray player; gotta digitze the best stuff I have on VHS before I clear all that stuff out). I won't be holding out for Little Mermaid 3 or Nightmare Before Christmas this month though. I hope to snag them both when they come out on the best editions they make for regular DVD.

WALLGREEN'S HAS CANADIAN DVD's, INCLUDING DISNEY, for 12.99 and UNDER!
I went shopping today and picked up Pooh's Grand Adventure, the Search for Christopher Robin, for 12.99 at Wallgreen's. I also got The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy Season 1 for 5 bucks! Also Bring It On Again (been wanting it for a long time, the blonde girl in the lead is soooo hot) for 7.99. They had lots of other good stuff too. I did notice a few interesting things. A few of the DVDs looked like the packaging was a bit of a lower quality than U.S. DVDs, so I wondered if the low price was because they were bootlegs. Still, I couldn't believe seeing bootlegs at Wallgreen's. I then noticed they had Chicken Little and Piglet's Big Movie with French titles. Looking a little closely, I noticed the Canada mark on the DVDs. So, these are official and Region One, they're just the canadian releases, meaning some of the packaging is a bit different, some is not, depending on the DVD. There are no slipcovers though. They had Meet the Robinsons for 12.99, and I almost bought it, but it didn't have a slipcover and I'm still considering getting a Blu-Ray player sometime before the holidays... It's really making me wonder what to do about the release of Little Mermaid 3 and Nightmare Before Christmas next week...
I also stopped by the mall, and Suncoast finally unearthed the copy of Gargoyles Season 2 part 1 that I knew they had somewhere. I bought it right away, though it cleaned me out.
Incidentally, did Pooh's Grand Adventure ever have a slipcover?

Incidentally, some more they had at Wallgreen's for 12.99:
Lady and the Tramp Platinum
Pocahontas 2-disc
Meet the Robinsons
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
The Shaggy Dog (new one)
National Treasure 2
High School Musical ... 2 I think
And possibly some I'm forgetting. Now I need to check some other Wallgreens stores. I left some there I'd like to go back for though. They also had a Billy and Mandy movie I need to get for 5 bucks.

Update about the DVDs at Wallgreen's.
So, I checked out the three DVDs at Wallgreen's I picked up. If you remember, what happened was that I discovered they now have a real DVD rack at Wallgreen's stores, and it is loaded with major DVD releases, many at half the price of other stores. Most look the same, but they actually had some Disney titles, and the Disney ones looked kinda cheapy, like they might be bootlegs or something. Of course, I didn't expect to see bootlegs at a store like Wallgreens. Well, I looked at the DVDs harder, and I noticed many (not just the Disney ones) had French writing, and sometimes even French titles, and figured out that they were probably just the Canadian releases. I found the Canada mark on some of them, including the Disney ones. I decided maybe they just the cheaper packaging on the Disney animated features for Canada, and picked up a copy of "Pooh's Grand Adventure" for 12.99, Bring It On Again for 7.99, and Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy for 5 bucks.
The two non-Disney's worked great and look totally legit and the same as the ones sold everywhere else, except that Bring It On has the title in French as well on the cover, but rather small so that I didn't notice it till today. The Pooh DVD, however, looked slightly cheap as far as the case and the cover insert went. The disc looked fine and had fancy printing on it, but it wouldn't play. It wouldn't play even in our really good Sony player. Also, I was at Wallgreens again today, and the copy of Valiant they had (which, thankfully, I did not buy because I hadn't checked out the Pooh DVD yet) also looked bootleggy and I didn't see the Canada symbol anywhere on that one. Plus, the writing on the back of the case was sloppily printed, so at this point I have no idea what the deal is with the Disney DVDs they have there. I'm pretty sure the other DVDs are safe and legit, but the Disney ones... somethings up with those. I can't imagine Wallgreens carrying bootlegs, but that's what they seem like.

I think Target's having a sale.plinky wrote:Where did you find it at that price?Howard wrote:The Golden Girls: The Complete Fifth Season - $16.99
Either that or he got it used for a really great price. I got Seasons 4 and 5 for about $13 each at GameStop a year or two ago. My local MovieStop also has a new copy of Season 6 for $19.99, which I've been meaning to pick up. Once I get that, all that's left is Season 7 and the Intimate Portrait DVD from Warner.
