Disney's Divinity wrote:Nothing to add, but I just randomly thought about how bizarre it would have been if Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel had voiced Rapunzel and Elsa back to back (as planned). I kind of feel sorry for Chenoweth that she didn't get the role; becoming a Disney character, particularly a princess, in some ways immortalizes you since these films are continously watched by new generations of children.

I could've seen Chenoweth voicing Anna, actually. I love Bell's performance though, so I'm not disappointed.
That would be so cute if the stars of Wicked voiced Disney Princess (WDAS) back-to-back.

I was at first mad when I found out that Kristin Chenoweth was getting replaced by a pop star (Mandy Moore). But, now I'm really glad that Mandy Moore took over because her voice fits Rapunzel much better. Kristin's high voice wouldn't match Rapunzel or Anna. But, I can definitely imagine Kristin be the voice of Olaf if he was female! That would have been so perfect! :D  And she did voice a Disney character (Rosetta in the first 2 movies, but dropped out b/c of TV shows), but I think TINKER BELL and its movies will be forgotten in 10-20 years by the company, unfortunately for Kristin.

Also, she's an animated character in Rio 2 and she is so perfect as Gabby.

I'm sure Kristin will land a major fantasy Disney role soon. She has both the talking voice and the singing voice that a company as smart as Disney know not to pass up.

Yeah, I was thinking of original movies.

I don't think Kristen would've been that bad as either of those characters. I doubt she would've sung as high as she can, considering none of the Rapunzel or Anna songs call for the characters to be singing that high. I think her personality would have better-suited Anna than Rapunzel though, just because she always seems so hyper and enthusiastic. Plus, the giggle.

@Ray: I hope you're right.

Eh, I prefer calling it Frozen over the Snow Queen. The film has very little similarities with the original source, anyway, so it works better as its own story. I don't think even in the film Elsa is ever referred to as the "Snow Queen", anyway. :?

Otoh, I do wish Disney would stop with this "adjective" titles trend. They're already doing something similar with Giants, and I don't want something like Moana to turn into Volcanoes.

The argument there is that Disney adaptations of classic tales have always deviated from the source material, some more extremely than others. Yet they all retained the classic titles. And Ariel was never referred to as "The Little Mermaid," nor Aurora as the "Sleeping Beauty." Those were simply the titles of the original tales, or close to it.

isnt Kristin Chenoweth the voice of Charlotte(PATf)?

regarding Disney and their habit of misleading answers:

why did you change the name of Frozen?
B/c it was more Anna's story than Elsa's

why did you market Frozen as a comedy with little emphasis on the music & drama?
b/c we wanted to let people discover something new about the film & surprise them

why doesnt Disney do hand drawn animation anymore?
we still do hand drawn animation... which we use to create the cgi films

They are masters at it by now. They make sure you are only going to know what they want you to know.

She doesn't have to be evil to be the snow queen. She was evil and had snow powers. And she was the snow queen for more than 5 seconds, because she was a queen who had snow powers throughout the whole movie. And she did do a lot of things, like freeze things, leave, create a castle and new place for her to live/be the snow queen of, freeze Anna's head and heart, lift the spell at the end, etc.

In the original story the Snow Queen was actually more a neutral figure.

Oh, come on, she IS the plot. She almost killed Anna, the main character. That led to both sisters separated, Anna alone and desperate for love. She freaking set off an eternal winter...everywhere! leading Anna to look for her. I agree she's practically nothing in the movie, she speaks too little and when she does it's about chocolate ( :?: ) and I think Frozen fits the movie better that "The Snow Queen" (even though I don't think that title was wrong) but you can't say she doesn't do anything! She also freezes the main character's heart leading to the whole climax. She's the main character problem, objective, true love, and everyone problem in Arendelle setting off the winter.

I can defientely imagine Santino's Cinderella co-star Laura Osnes to voice Angelina way more than Kristin Chenoweth. I mean, THAT singing voice! How can Disney turn someone like that down for a Disney princess?!?! :o :o :o

Plus, she auditioned for Ariel for Broadway and she has a huge interest to be a Disney Princess (Her own words), so it might happen.

And like I said, if Olaf was female, Kristin would be perfect for him/her. She would have been a great Charlotte and Vanellope as well if WIR was a musical. She just needs to keep on auditoning! :D
