It combines animation, mo-cap and live action all in one.
Alan Rickman:
Alan Rickman:
When they say animation I wonder if it's 2D.So, it’s a mixture. The movie is a mixture of live action, animation, and stop motion, so it’s very complicated and I don’t think all three have been put together ever before,” reveals Rickman. “So I’ll be with a live action Alice. I will be a construct.

Probably not, there gonna use live-action for whatever happens before Alice drops down the rabbit hole. They'll use Mo-Caps for characters like Alice, The Mad Hatter, basically anything human, and they'll probably use CGI for the animal characters like The March Hare, The Mock Turtle, etc.Neal wrote: When they say animation I wonder if it's 2D.

It's been rumored for a while, but it's now official: Stephen Fry is the Cheshire Cat, thus making the rumor that Michael Sheen is the White Rabbit seem more valid:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7895351.stm
The person posting around various message boards (IMDb, Tim Burton Collective, Alice-in-Wonderland.net) has been eerily right so far in everything he's said (that's been confirmed, anyway). He mentioned Stephen Fry and Michael Sheen long before anyone else did, even sticking to his claim of Fry being the Cheshire Cat while other sources kept saying it was Sheen. He mentioned the Queen of Hearts/Red Queen renaming Wonderland Underland, and a brief interview with a crew member posted a couple of months ago mentions Underland in passing. He mentioned the Queen having red hair and an enormous head before Alan Rickman did. Now I'm taking some of his far-fetched stuff (Alice and the Mad Hatter having a romance) far more seriously...

I love Stephen Fry!

If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Well, I stand corrected. Looks like we got our first official image sooner than I thought:
http://www.timburtoncollective.com/tbcnews.html
While a part of me still wishes Tim didn't go with the blonde hair/blue dress look, I like that at least this is different (finally, no more pinafores). The rabbit and cat designs on her dress are a nice touch. Hopefully her hair will be more loose (like in the set pics we've seen of her on the ship) as the adventure progresses.
There's also concept art pieces for the hallway with the little door and the mad tea party. I really like the look of the hall. It's very Victorian, which makes sense given Alice's upbringing, and even a little foreboding. It makes me wonder if all of Wonderland will be like this or if we're going to get more stylized Burtonesque designs. I'm fine with both, but I hope he manages to gel them together well.
The Mad Tea Party image is also very interesting. It seems to continue the Victorian trend found in the hallway pic. It's not so much whimsical as it is realistically higgledy-piggledy. Putting different tables of various sizes together is a neat idea. It makes things seem more discombobulated. I also like the sophisticated look of the March Hare. Sometimes making things appear normal makes the bizarre behavior stand out more, and that seems to be the effect Burton's going for. I'm not sure how I feel about the Cheshire Cat, though.
The article itself doesn't say much we don't already know. The only two nuggets I gleamed are: A) that Burton is basing the film's look more off of Arthur Rackham than John Tenniel (I can definitely see the influence), and B) that this is more of a Return to Oz-type of sequel than a retelling of the original story. The second tidbit isn't exactly new. It's been rumored for a while that this was the approach, but this is the first time it's been confirmed. What's a little confusing is that this won't be a 100% new story. Famous scenes from the book(s) will be recreated, but given a new angle and new connections. So I guess this is more of a sequel/remake combo, perhaps something like the Tin Man mini-series, only less radical.
Oh, and supposedly the shareholder's meeting opened with a montage of upcoming Disney films, and a finalized shot of Johnny as the Mad Hatter (not the wardrobe test shown earlier) appeared. It doesn't seem like anyone took video of that montage, though.

Oh, heart be still. The pics of the tea party table look amazing. I really hope I can find a copy of that magazine at Barnes and Noble tomorrow when I get paid. I can hardly stand the wait.
This movie is going to be outstanding. Thanks so much for finding and posting that.

According to the D23 website, Alice will be released in IMAX 3-D along with the Disney Digital 3-D and standard 2-D versions:
http://d23.disney.go.com/articles/03310 ... eImax.html
I've heard mixed things about IMAX 3-D, and considering my nearest theater is 45 minutes away, I think I'll just check out the digital showing.
Also, apparently images of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen were shown at ShoWest. Hopefully those will leak soon.
